Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical condition (leg muscle strength, waist flexibility, abdominal muscle strength, and arm strength) and mental toughness in wrestling athletes. The research method used was quantitative with a correlational design. The population, which also served as the sample, consisted of 15 athletes selected by a total sampling technique. Data collection instruments included a leg dynamometer for leg strength, a flexibility test for waist flexibility, a sit-up test for abdominal strength, and the MTIid to measure mental toughness. The results of the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and linearity test indicated that the data were normally distributed and had a linear relationship. Hypothesis testing using a correlation test found significant relationships between leg muscle strength (p=0.004), waist flexibility (p=0.005), abdominal muscle strength (p=0.001), and arm strength (p=0.001) with mental toughness. This study concludes that the physical condition, comprising leg muscle strength, waist flexibility, abdominal muscle strength, and arm strength, has a significant relationship with the mental toughness of wrestling athletes. The implication is that wrestling training programs should be designed integratively to develop physical and mental aspects simultaneously.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Pancasila values and local Papuan culture in shaping the character of sports students at Cenderawasih University, particularly in strengthening moral, social, and cultural integrity amid globalization challenges. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, involving 29 students from the Sports Education Study Program selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a four-point Likert scale questionnaire covering indicators of Pancasila values (belief in God, humanity, unity, democracy, and justice) and Papuan cultural values (solidarity, togetherness, respect for customs, and collective courage). Data analysis utilized percentage techniques with descriptive classification criteria. The findings reveal that all indicators fall within the outstanding category, with average scores ranging from 84% to 92%. These results indicate that students have successfully internalized values such as religiosity, empathy, cooperation, sportsmanship, fairness, and respect for tradition in both academic and athletic contexts. The study confirms that integrating Pancasila and Papuan cultural values significantly contributes to the development of resilient, ethical, and identity-driven sports students. Therefore, higher education institutions are encouraged to systematically embed these values into curricula, instructional strategies, and extracurricular programs to produce graduates who are not only academically and physically competent but also morally grounded and socially responsible in a globalized world.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to measure the cardiorespiratory endurance of college students through the Multistage Fitness Test (Beep Test) and VO₂Max calculation to obtain an objective picture of their aerobic fitness level. This study used a survey method involving two groups, namely male and female students. In the male group (n=12), the results showed that the majority of participants were in the below average category (66.7%), while 16.65% were in the low category and another 16.65% were in the average category. These findings indicate that most male students have cardiorespiratory capacity that still needs to be improved to achieve ideal fitness standards. Meanwhile, in the female group (n=4), all participants were in the low category with a percentage of 100%. This condition indicates that the aerobic fitness level of female students is still at a level far from optimal. Overall, the results of the study show that most students, both male and female, have aerobic fitness in the low to moderate category. These findings provide an important basis for planning a more targeted aerobic exercise program to improve the cardiorespiratory capacity of Papuan sports students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and describe the aerobic capacity profile (VO₂Max) of Perslotim U-17 soccer players as an indicator of the cardiorespiratory endurance of young athletes. The study used a quantitative descriptive method with a test and measurement design. The study population consisted of 50 male athletes aged 16–17 years, selected using a total sampling technique. The instrument used was the Beep Test (multistage fitness test) to measure VO₂Max. Data were analyzed by calculating the mean, minimum, maximum, and standard deviation values, then classified into cardiorespiratory endurance categories based on aerobic fitness norms for adolescent athletes. The results showed that the majority of athletes were in the average (46%) and good (32%) categories, with a small portion in the sufficient (16%), poor (4%), and very good (2%) categories. There were no athletes in the very poor or extraordinary categories. These findings indicate that the players' aerobic capacity is sufficient to support training and match activities, but still has room for improvement. In conclusion, the cardiorespiratory endurance of Perslotim U-17 players is at a fair to good level, so it is recommended to implement a more structured and sustainable aerobic training program to improve the athletes' performance and achievements in the future.

Abstract

The increasing number of older adults has led to a rise in health-related problems, particularly those associated with decreased flexibility and balance, which may increase the risk of falls and reduce independence in daily activities. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge of older adults regarding the role of flexibility and balance in daily. The implementation methods included health education, demonstrations of stretching and balance exercises, and guided independent practice. Evaluation was conducted using pretest and posttest to measure participants’ knowledge levels. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge, where in the pretest the majority of participants were in the low category and very low category. After the intervention, there was a substantial increase in the high category and very high category. In addition, the low category decreased to 4.62%, and the very low category dropped to 0%. These findings indicate that the educational intervention was effective in improving the understanding of older adults. This program contributes to enhancing awareness and the ability of older adults to maintain their health through flexibility and balance exercises in order to sustain independence in daily living.

Abstract

This community service activity was motivated by the low literacy of students in utilizing reference management applications in the preparation of scientific papers. The objective of the activity was to improve students' understanding and skills in using Mendeley effectively and independently. The implementation method included training, development of a guide module, integration of use in lecture assignments, as well as mentoring and evaluation. The results of the activity showed significant improvements, where 100% of participants were able to use Mendeley for citations and automatic bibliography compilation independently. In addition, there was an increase in the timeliness of assignment submissions and the quality of students' scientific writing. This comprehensive and sustainable approach has proven effective in forming more systematic and technology-based academic habits. This activity has the potential to be implemented more widely to support improving the quality of scientific writing in higher education.
