Abstract

Traditional medicine is a supplement that can help maintain a healthy body which is produced from ingredients or ingredients derived from plants, so that it is still in great demand by the public because it is considered safe. Traditional medicinal preparations themselves are not allowed to contain Medicinal Chemicals (BKO). However, along with the increasing public interest, this has led to the circulation of traditional medicines containing BKO in order to obtain products with the fastest/ most effective effects. One of the chemical drugs that are often found are coffeine and paracetamol. This study aims to identify the medicinal chemicals of coffeine and paracetamol in traditional medicine using a solid phase extraction method which is then followed by high performance liquid chromatography with a photo diode array detector. The results obtained were that the coffeine standard produced a retention time of 5.791 with a wavelength of 206 nm and 272 nm while the paracetamol standard produced a retention time of 4.372 with a wavelength of 196 nm and 246 nm. The results of the analysis showed that the samples in the form of traditional medicines did not contain the medicinal chemicals coffeine and paracetamol Keywords: Coffeina, Paracetamol, Medicinal Chemicals, Traditional Medicine

Abstract

Research on the determination of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) heavy metal contamination levels using the GFA-AAS method has been carried out in food samples. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) metal contamination so that they do not exceed the threshold limit set according to the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency Regulation No. 9 of 2022. The research was carried out by destroying the sample using HNO3(p) and H2O2(p) into microwave. Additions were made of matrix modifiers (mixture of Mg(NO3)2. 6H2O in 0,5% HNO3 and 1% NH4H2PO4 in 0,5% HNO3 (1:1)). Determination of heavy metal content in food was determined by the Carbon Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (GFA-AAS) method with a wavelength of 283.3 nm for lead (Pb) and 228.8 nm for cadmium (Cd). The results of measuring the levels of heavy metal lead (Pb) contamination in food samples were 0,016 mg/kg and 0,015 mg/kg for the heavy metal cadmium (Cd). Based on the Regulation of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency No 9 of 2022 concerning Requirements for Heavy Metal Contamination in Processed Foods, the maximum limit for metal contamination of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in processed food is 0,30 mg/kg, where the results obtained do not exceed threshold, so that the sample is fit for consumption. Abstract

Hydrogel is a hydrophilic polymer network that can experience swelling with the ability to absorb and retain large amounts of liquid without decomposing and is widely applied in the fields of health, environment and agriculture. The swelling properties of hydrogels are influenced by the type of tissue and the density of crosslinks that form it. In this study the hydrogel was prepared by stirring a 2% chitosan solution (w/v) as much as 7 mL with 3 ml of formaldehyde-tripolyphosphate crosslinking mixture at variations of 3:0, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2 and 0:3 (v/v) at room temperature and swelling tests were carried out by immersing each hydrogel produced in aquades for a span of 24 hours at the same temperature. Based on the observations, the gel formation time was 420, 97, 84, 75 and 58 minutes respectively which showed the lower the chitosan concentration and the higher the tripolyphosphate, the faster the gel formation process. Then the degree of consecutive sweling was 581.43; 78,23; 75,17; 48.85 and 20.97% (w/w) indicate that covalent cross-networks formed by amine groups on chitosan with aldehyde groups on formaldehyde are more stable and more difficult to degrade than physical cross-networks formed by groups on chitosan and tripolyphosphates. Abstract

Silver nanoparticles are particles whose range ranges from 1-100 nm. Formation of metal nanoparticles can be done by top down (physics) and bottom up (chemistry) methods. Chemical reduction is a very commonly used method because it is relatively simple, easy and effective to produce AgNPs. Synthesis of silver nanoparticles was carried out by forming a colloidal silver solution using the silver nitrate reduction method with a chemical reducing agent. Some chemical reducing agents that can be used are ascorbic acid, citric acid, hydrazine and NaBH4. In addition, a stabilizing agent is needed to prevent agglomeration of the formed nanoparticles. The purpose of this article review is to determine the characteristics of silver nanoparticles synthesized using chemical reducing agents based on UV-Vis, PSA, TEM and SEM spectrophotometer data. The method used is the method of literature review. The results show that the synthesis of silver nanoparticles by reducing silver nitrate with sodium borohydride and poly acrylic acid (PAA) stabilizer produces an average size of 71.8 nm silver particles, the PVP stabilizer produces an average size of 96.0 nm silver particles, synthesis of silver nanoparticles using reducing agents ethylene glycol and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) produces an average size of silver particles of less than 10 nm, synthesis of silver nanoparticles using reducing agents hydrazine hydrate and polyvinyl alcohol produces an average size of silver particles of 10-60 nm. Keywords: silver nanoparticle, NaBH4, stabilizer

This study aims to reduce the level of dyes in Sarung Tenun Samarinda liquid waste samples by electrodecolorization method using lead dioxide (PbO2) electrode as anode and Copper (Cu) as cathode. Electrodecolorization was carried out by varying the working potential, Na2SO4 electrolyte concentration, time, and dye concentration in order to obtain optimum conditions for dye decolorization by electrolysis process. The concentration of the dye was determined by calculating the absorbance data obtained from measurements using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the optimum conditions of electrodecolorization on orange dyes using PbO2/Cu electrodes were a working potential of 10.5 volts, 0.2 M Na2SO4 electrolyte concentration and a time of 20 minutes. In green dyes, the optimum conditions are working potential of 10.5 volts, electrolyte concentration of Na2SO4 0.1 M and time for 15 minutes. The percentage of decolorization of the orange Sarung Tenun Samarinda liquid waste sample using the PbO2/Cu electrode was 100% and in the green Sarung Tenun Samarinda liquid waste sample was 100%.

Abstract

Research has been carried out regarding the synthesis of Magnetite-Alginate microcapsules (MNPs-ALG) and applied to Cu (II) metal ions. The nature of magnetic nanoparticles, Fe3O4 which easily form aggregations can be overcome by this encapsulation process, but a very efficient separation process is also very much needed in the analytical separation process. The process of making magnetite nanoparticle compounds is carried out first using FeCl2.4H2O and FeCl3.6H2O and adding concentrated ammonia at a temperature of 90οC until the solution becomes blackish in color. The dry magnetite, Fe3O4, nanoparticles were then dissolved in distilled water and thickened with Na-Alginate then dropped slowly into a 1 M CaCl2 solution. The results of characterization using SEM showed that there were differences in morphology before and after contact, and there was 0.98% mass of Cu elements on the EDS results. The microcapsule adsorption optimization test gave results for the best adsorption percentage >90% on a mass variation of magnetite (MNPs) of 0.3 grams; pH 5; contact time of 30 minutes and retention capacity of 185.95 mg/gram, at a Cu(II) concentration of 800 ppm. Analytical performance shows the best results with linearity parameters with a correlation coefficient of 0.999; the detection limit and quantitation limit are 0.0516 ppb and 0.1720 ppb with a lifetime of four times. The application of samples in the form of river water samples shows a percent recovery value of around >90%, indicating that there is no matrix that significantly influences the measurements.
