Abstract

The research about analytical performance optimization to the determination of fluorine’s concentration inside coal using visible spectrophotometry method has been done. The optimum result of the obtain for measurement, some parameters of measurements were validated. Parameters of validation used in this research are accuracy, precision, linearity, LOD, LOQ and robustness of the method. The results of research obtained, the accuracy was 99,34% described in percent of the recovery, obtained precision are 0,4309% described in percent of RSD with linearity equation was y = 10,79x + 16,77. The result of measurement is very good which described by the value of LOD 0,0638 ppm and LOQ 0,2127 ppm. The conclusion of results are the determination of fluorine's concentration inside coal using visible spectrophotometry method have good precision and accuracy which can be accounted.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan uji “Validasi Metode Rapid Test Terhadap Penentuan Parameter Total Moisture (ar), Calorific Value (ar) dan Ash Content (ar) Di PT. Kaltim Prima Coal”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk hasil perbandingan metode rapid test terhadap standar yang telah di tetapkan atau di gunakan oleh PT. Kaltim Prima Coal pada sampel batubara dengan optimalisasi waktu saat preparasi tanpa tahap pengeringan (as received) dengan batubara ukuran 11,2 mm yang nanti akan di validasi untuk mengetahui reliable apa tidak digunakan untuk kegiatan operasional di laboratorium.Penelitian dilakukan dengan cara dua macam pengambilan data yaitu data standar dan data rapid, meliputi parameter Total Moisture, Calorific Value dan Ash Content. Lalu dilakukan optimalisasi waktu saat preparasi yaitu tanpa tahap pengeringan dengan batubara ukuran 11,2 mm. Kemudian dilakukan uji validasi metode uji bias dan uji t.Berdasarkan uji validasi metode diperoleh hasil Total Moisture dan Ash Content pada batubara ukuran 11,2 mm tanpa tahap pengeringan dapat digunakan dengan tetap memperhatikan variance yang ada, sedangkan pada analisa Calorific Value tanpa tahap pengeringan tidak dapat digunakan melihat hasil yang diperoleh jauh dalam range yang ditentukan.

Abstract

Research on natural zeolite has been carried out as a porous material modified by Fe2O3 semiconductor material. Starting with natural zeolite preparation, dealumination by activating it using HCl solution, modifying natural zeolite with Fe2O3 using FeCl3 and NaOH solution, then characterized using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and test the surface area using a Methylene Blue solution. The results of the XRF analysis showed that the composition of Fe2O3 increased after it was modified to 38.022%, which was previously namely 3.193%. The results of SEM analysis showed changes in the morphology of natural zeolites after being modified with Fe2O3. The results of the XRD analysis showed that there was a diffraction peak which provided information that the sample contained Fe2O3. Zeolite-Fe2O3 has a surface area of ??110,2707 m2/g. Abstract

Research on the synthesis of activated carbon from jengkol shells (Pithecellobium lobatum) with the help of ultrasonic waves as an electrochemical energy storage material has been done. The activated carbon from jengkol shells is characterized by surface area using blue methylene method and pore morphology with SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) instrument. The characterization results show that the active carbon with ultrasonic wave exposure has a larger surface area of 181.3693 m2/gram than the activated carbon without exposure to ultarsonic waves of 178.0290 m2/gram. The SEM results in activated carbon with ultasonic wave exposure indicate that the pore distribution is more evenly distributed, the number of pores more, and the pore size tends to be smaller, whereas in the activated carbon without the exposure of larger and slightly larger portions of ultrasound waves. The optimum value of capacitance on activated carbon without and with ultrasonic wave exposure of and 6.97 μF/gram and 5.21 μF/gram.

Abstract

A research on development of rapid test methods for two parameters, calorific value and ash content, based on the needs of minimum time analysis has been conducted. This study aims to determine whether the analytical performance of rapid test methods is comparable with the standard methods. The results showed that the standard and the rapid test method have good analytical performance. Accuracy results which is expressed as recovery percentage show that the calorific values of both methods were in the range of 99.75 % - 100.40 % and the ash content values ​​with both methods were in the range of 93.33 % - 103.70 %. Precision results by CV percentage showed that the calorific value were 0.21 % and 0.23 %, and the value of ash content were 4.03% and 4.28%. For the ruggedness parameter test, the success rate was almost for the entire parameter, excepts for precision test where the ash content value obtained has CV percentage ≥ 5 %. Nevertheless, the overall parameters of the test and the analytical performance analysis are extremely good and acceptable according to the references and a rapid test method can be used as an alternative method.

Abstract

Penelitian validasi metode rapid test dalam penentuan total moisture, ash content, calorific value (as received) pada batubara terhadap standar ISO (International Organization for Standardizations) dengan ukuran 3 mm (studi kasus di PT. Kaltim Prima Coal) telah dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui perbedaan pada total moisture, ash content, calorific value jika dilakukan dalam basis (ar) dan mengetahui hasil jika batubara yang digunakan dalam operasional berukuran 3 mm. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan batubara ukuran 3 mm diperoleh hasil pada total moisture dan ash content untuk batubara ini tidak terdapat perbedaan dan dapat digunakan dalam operasional laboratorium, sedangkan pada calorific value terdapat perbedaan pada batubara ini. Dalam penentuan ini harus tetap memperhatikan range varian dari nilai reproducibility pada setiap parameter batubara.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang penurunan kadar sianida dengan penambahan Ca(OH)2 pada umbi gadung (Dioscorea hispida) telah dilakukan. Percobaan ini dimaksudkan untuk mendapatkan data penurunan kadar sianida pada umbi gadung dengan cara penambahan Ca(OH)2, memvariasikan pH (keasaman) air rebusan dan lama rendaman umbi gadung. Hasil data ditentukan persentase penurunan kadar sianida pada umbi gadung menunjukkan bahwa perebusan dengan penambahan Ca(OH)2 10 % dan pH 12 diperoleh penurunan kadar sianida pada umbi gadung 18,2533 mg/L. Sianida yang tertinggal pada umbi gadung 5,6967 mg/L dan persentase penurunan 76,21 %. Lama waktu rendaman selama 60 jam diperoleh penurunan kadar sianida 23,1303 mg/L. Sianida yang tertinggal pada umbi gadung 0,8197 mg/L dan persentase penurunan 96,58 %. Kata Kunci : Umbi Gadung, Sianida, Ca(OH)2, Persentase Penurunan

Abstract

Penelitian tentang sintesis resin pengkhelat Polistiren divinilbenzena-dimetilglioksima dan kemampuan adsorpsi terhadap ion logam Ni(II) telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mensintesis resin PSDVB-dimetilglioksima. Sintesis resin pengkhelat Polistirene divinilbenzena-dimetilglioksima dilakukan melalui tiga tahap yaitu nitrasi, reduksi dan diazotasi. Pada tahap diazotasi terjadi reaksi kopling antara kation diazonium dengan nukleofil dari dimetilgliokisma yang dilakukan pada suhu 0-3ºC. Karakteristik dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode batch yaitu metode perendaman resin dalam larutan standar Ni(II) dalam waktu 24 jam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rendemen dari setiap tahapan sintesis adalah 60,7289%, 95,8940% dan 74,2254%. Resin pengkhelat hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi dengan spektrofotometer FT-IR yang menunjukkan perubahan bilangan gelombang 1350.17 cm-1 dan 1527.62 cm-1 yang merupakan pita serapan dari gugus N-O, bilangan gelombang 3448.72 cm-1 yang merupakan pita serapan dari gugus N-H dan bilangan gelombang 1627.92 cm-1 yang merupakan pita serapan dari gugus azo N=N. Karakteristik adsorpsi resin pengkhelat hasil sintesis terhadap ion logam Ni(II) menunjukkan persentase perolehan kembali mencapai 97,275%.

Abstract

Alginate is a natural polysaccharide consisting of mannuronic acid and guluronic acid connected via glycosidic bonds. Alginate has properties of biocompatibility, biodegradability, and reports in nature that make it attractive as a base material in microencapsulation applications. Microencapsulation is a technology used to coat active ingredients in small particles with the aim of increasing stability, solubility, and controlling the release of active substances. This article aims to review research results related to various methods of alginate microencapsulation as an adsorbent taken from several scientific articles. This literature review shows that encapsulation methods are divided into two categories, namely physical and chemical methods as well as several technologies such as coacervation, spray drying, extrusion, freeze drying and layer-by-layer coating. Alginate-based adsorbents, especially modified ones, show a better capacity to absorb heavy metals than pure alginate with adsorption capacities ranging from 0,025 mg/g to 416,67 mg/g. The adsorption efficiency is influenced by the physicochemical properties of the adsorbent and external conditions such as pH and metal ion concentration. With its various advantages, alginate-based microencapsulation has great potential for application in various industrial fields, especially in air purification, pharmaceuticals and nutrition. Abstract

A review article has been carried out on the use of alginate microcapsules as metal adsorbents. From the review of this article, it was found that metal pollution would harm the environment, so alginate microcapsules were made which have a carboxylic acid group, namely carboxyl which is able to bind with a metal. The metals that are adsorbed are Cd2+, Cu2+, Mn2+, Cr6+, Ni2+. The microcapsules reviewed in this article include Ca-Alginate-EDTA Microcapsules, Magnetite-Alginate Microcapsules (MNPs-ALG), Alginate and Alginate/ Montmorillonite Films, polyvinyl alcohol-Na-alginate Microcapsules, Ca-alginate-DMG. The aim of modifying alginate microcapsules is to increase the metal absorption capacity, metal absorption recovery and surface area of ​​each adsorbent. The way alginate microcapsules work is by exchanging unstable ions and the flow and stirring speed will affect the shape and size of the microcapsules. Slow stirring will produce microcapsules with a larger particle size because during the stirring process large droplets are formed. The absorption results obtained ranged from 84-119% and the adsorption capacity was 0.0301 - 185.95 mg/g. Keywords : Adsorption, Alginate, Metal Ions, Microcapsule
