Abstract

Banyak penelitian yang telah dilakukan untuk menemukan potensi sumber energi alternatif dari bahan-bahan yang dapat diperbarui dan ramah lingkungan akibat dari menipisnya sumber energi fosil. Salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan kemandirian energi adalah dengan menyiapkan bahan bakar alternatif potensial yang berasal dari mikroalga. Kecamatan Banda Sakti memiliki potensi sumberdaya pesisir dan lautan yang belum banyak dikaji, salah satunya adalah mikroalga. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis mikroalga yang berpotensi sebagai bahan baku biodiesel di Kecamatan Banda Sakti Kota Lhokseumawe. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Oktober – November 2021 di Perairan Laut Kecamatan Banda Sakti, Kota Lhokseumawe dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Ditemukan sebanyak 143 jenis mikroalga dan ditemukan 4 jenis mikroalga yang telah dikembangkan sebagai bahan biodiesel yaitu Cholera sp., Spirulina sp., Nitzschia sp., dan Chaetoceros sp. Jenis mikroalga yang paling melimpah yaitu Raphidonema sp., jenis ini perlu diteliti lebih lanjut untuk melihat potensi sebagai bahan baku biodiesel. Kelimpahan total mikroalga berkisar antara 350,00–561,11 ind/L. Nilai parameter kualitas perairan masih dalam kondisi baik untuk kehidupan mikroalga. Perairan laut Kecamatan Banda Sakti, Kota Lhokseumawe memiliki potensi mikroalga untuk dikembangkan sebagai bahan baku biodiesel.

Abstract

Zooplankton or animal plankton, is an organism that is generally small in size whose life is swayed by currents in the free ocean. Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City is a coastal area with potential for the study of its coastal waters, which have not been extensively explored. The purpose of this study was to assess the zooplankton community structure—including abundance, diversity, uniformity, and dominance in the coastal waters of Banda Sakti District, and to evaluate water quality conditions in relation to their suitability for supporting zooplankton life. The research was conducted in December 2021 in the coastal waters of Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City, using a purposive sampling method. A total of 50 zooplankton species representing 10 phyla were identified. The total abundance of zooplankton in this study ranged from 105.55 – 140.27 ind/L. In this study, the diversity index value ranged from 22.14 to 2.77, the uniformity index ranged from 0.65 to 0.79, and the dominance index ranged from 0.04 to 0.05. Overall, water quality parameters indicated that the coastal waters of Banda Sakti District remain within suitable conditions to sustain zooplankton communities according to established environmental standards.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the distribution of coral reef cover in North Aceh Waters using a Geographic Information System. This research was conducted from December 2025 to January 2026 in North Aceh Waters. Primary data collection in the field focused on in-situ water quality measurements, identification of benthic cover using Underwater Photo Transect (UPT), inventory of associated biota through visual censuses, and data collection of coral distribution coordinates. All data were then analyzed comprehensively through evaluation of quality standards for water quality, quantification of the percentage of coral cover using CPCe software, and spatial modeling of its distribution based on ArcGIS 10.8. The observation results show that the water quality including depth, temperature, salinity, pH, and DO are classified as suitable for coral reef growth in North Aceh Waters. The distribution of coral reef cover at station 1 consists of Coral namely Table Coral (Acropora sp.), Brain Coral and Massive Coral (Porites sp.), Bowl Coral (Turbinaria sp.), Encrusting Coral, various associated biota from invertebrate groups and marine flora such as blue starfish (Linckia laevigata), chicken feather anemones, and red algae. Meanwhile, at station 2, coral reef types were found consisting of Massive Coral (Porites sp.), Brain Coral (Favia sp.), Table Coral (Acropora hyacinthus), Sheet Coral (Echinopora sp.), Foliose Coral (Montipora foliosa), Encrusting Coral, and other biota were found in the form of sponges (Xestospongia muta), sea anemones, and sea cucumbers (Holothuroidea).
