Abstract

health crisis that the main character, Nina Sayers, faces. The movie presents Nina, a talented ballerina, as she struggles to embody the dual roles of the White Swan and Black Swan in a high-stakes ballet performance. This research used qualitative research. The data in this research is collected by watching the movie to collect information on the data, making notes of each dialogue or scene, and even a paragraph that contains a hierarchy of needs using the theory of Abraham Maslow, which classifies the data based on the hierarchy of needs. The research results are the main character, Nina, who finds it challenging to fully take on the Black Swan role because of her inadequate social life and the absence of romantic and emotional bonds required for the part. Her mother's excessive protectiveness and high expectations trap her, concentrating her attention solely on her ballet career and stifling other areas of her life. The movie highlights mental health crises, focusing on disorders caused by work pressure and perfectionism, conflicts between personal identity and societal expectations, feelings of isolation, and a lack of social support

Abstract

This research aims to examine the portrayal of adolescent identity crisis through the character Jamie in the Netflix series Adolescence (2025) and to analyze the psychosocial factors influencing his identity formation. This research uses a qualitative descriptive methodology to analyze narrative elements across four episodes, focusing on identity conflict, peer relations, family dynamics, and digital media influence. Grounded in Erik Erikson’s identity development theory, the research highlights that adolescent identity formation is contingent upon prior developmental stages. Jamie’s experience of profound feelings triggers maladaptive behaviors, including violent acts. Both Jamie and his close friends are marginalized due to perceived physical unattractiveness and social unpopularity, resulting in sustained peer victimization. Psychosocial influences identified include parental relationships marked by inadequate communication, peer rejection and bullying, and emerging sexual awareness during puberty. Despite a nonviolent and harmonious family environment, ineffective parental engagement contributes to Jamie’s emotional withdrawal. Furthermore, the research underscores the significant impact of social media as a double-edged factor, facilitating social connectivity and information acquisition while simultaneously exacerbating feelings of alienation, anxiety, and exposure to cyberbullying. Without adequate adult guidance, adolescents may internalize harmful ideologies, such as misogyny and distorted masculinity constructs, adversely affecting their mental health. The findings advocate for enhanced family communication, supportive peer environments, and structured digital literacy education to foster healthy adolescent psychosocial development.

Abstract

Matara Village, located in Merauke Regency, South Papua Province, is a coastal community with abundant marine resources, particularly fish as a primary commodity. However, limited processing capacity results in fish being sold whole at low prices or even unsold leading to economic losses and declining household incomes. The inability to process fish into nutritious, high-value products remains a key challenge. To address this issue, a team of lecturers from Musamus University conducted a community empowerment program focusing on training local women ("mama-mama") to produce fish nuggets. The program included field observations, counseling sessions, technical demonstrations, direct mentoring, and a satisfaction survey. As a result, nutritious and marketable fish nugget samples were successfully produced. This initiative aims to foster entrepreneurship and improve local economic resilience. The community responded positively and expressed strong interest in sustained support from relevant institutions for ongoing development.

Abstract

Abstract

Regional songs are authentic sources that represent the socio-cultural life of the communities in which they emerge. Therefore, research is needed to examine how the socio-cultural conditions of the Bima people are represented in the regional songs Kambali Mbojo Mantoi and Tio Kalao by Gun Malingi. This study aims to reveal the socio-cultural changes reflected in these two songs as well as the didactic values embedded within them. The research employs a literary sociology approach supported by social change theory. A descriptive qualitative method is applied to analyze the song lyrics, focusing on the socio-cultural changes and didactic values they contain. The findings show that: (1) the songs represent socio-cultural changes through the diminishing presence of several Bima traditions, such as pako fare, doa dana, rawi rasa, kareku kandei, and rimpu mpida; (2) the songs also depict shifts in the relationship between humans and nature; and (3) the researcher identifies didactic values in the form of Bima local wisdom ngaha aina ngoho which serves to reinforce educational values. These changes indicate a regression within the Bima community, marked by the fading of socio-cultural values and environmental degradation. Ultimately, these Bima regional songs play a vital role in preserving and sustaining Bima cultural identity and traditions, while fostering collective awareness of the importance of safeguarding cultural values, traditions, and the natural environment amid modern social change.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and analyze a computer-based Smart Assessment system integrated with a deep learning pedagogical approach for assessing the English language skills of junior high school students in Merauke. The system was implemented using the Quizizz platform as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), incorporating three core principles of deep learning: meaningful learning, mindful learning, and joyful learning. The research employed the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) and involved 45 junior high school students during the field implementation phase. Smart Assessment was applied in regular English assessment activities, enabling students to complete tests digitally while teachers monitored performance and results in real time. Several challenges emerged during implementation, including limited internet connectivity, differences in students’ digital literacy levels, and teachers’ initial adaptation to technology-based assessment. Despite these constraints, the system proved effective in facilitating teachers to conduct assessments more efficiently and accurately, while providing immediate and automated feedback that supported students’ reflective learning processes. Item quality analysis was conducted using Classical Test Theory (CTT) with the support of RStudio software. The results demonstrated very high instrument reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.961). Most test items were classified as having moderate difficulty, with good to very good discrimination power, and all distractors functioned effectively. These findings confirm that the developed instrument meets acceptable psychometric standards for educational assessment. Implementation of Smart Assessment shows strong potential to support objective, efficient, and engaging English language assessment, while enhancing teachers’ assessment practices and improving students’ learning experiences. This system offers a practical and innovative solution for English language assessment in the context of digital and 21st-century education, particularly in remote and border regions.
