Abstract

This study aims to optimise the growth of Superior Balitbangtan (KUB-2) chickens through feed restriction during the starter period and its effect on the recovery phase. This study used 100 two-week-old KUB-2 chickens, placed in 20 cages measuring 70 cm x 70 cm x 60 cm, with each cage containing 5 KUB-2 chickens. The study employed a Completely Randomised Design (CRD) with four treatments and five replicates. The variables observed were feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), Growth Rate,  and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). The research showed that applying 20%, 30%, and 40% feed restriction had a significant effect (P < 0.01) on decreasing feed intake and body weight gain, but had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on the feed conversion ratio during the 4 weeks of treatment. During the recovery phase, ad libitum feeding had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on feed intake, but did not affect body weight gain or feed conversion ratio. Throughout the study, feed restriction followed by recovery had a very significant effect (P < 0.01) on feed intake and a significant effect (P < 0.05) on body weight gain and feed conversion ratio. This study concludes that the 20% feed restriction treatment showed the best performance, with a feed intake of 339.97 g/bird/week, body weight gain of 98.35 g/bird/week, a feed conversion ratio of 3.46, a growth rate of 0.227, and an Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC) of Rp. 14,815.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the polymorphism of the exon-2 myostatin gene (MSTN) in Pitalah ducks using the PCR-RFLP (Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) method. 28 blood samples of Pitalah ducks were used in this study. Blood samples were extracted using Intron Biotechnology's Intron G-SpinTM Total DNA Extraction Kit protocol. The DNA extraction results were then amplified using a pair of primers, namely the Forward: 5' TCCACTTGTTACTGATGCTGT-3' primer and the Reverse: 5'- TAGGGAAATGGAGGCACAGG-3' primer, with a fragment target of 700 bp. Furthermore, the amplified product is restricted using the Taq1 enzyme, which recognizes the cutting site on T|CGA. Based on the results of the study, two genotypes were found, namely 89.29% truncated homozygous (+/+) and heterozygous (+/-), as well as 10.71% of the total sample used, while untruncated homozygous genotypes (-/-) were not found in this study. Meanwhile, the allele frequency (+) was 0.946, the allele frequency (-) was 0.054, and the observed heterozygosity value was greater than the expected heterozygosity value (Ho>He). This study concludes that the myostatin exon-2 gene in Pitalah ducks is polymorphic and is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the polymorphism of quantitative traits of Bayang ducks raised with intensive and extensive system in Bayang District, West Sumatera. This study used 114 Bayang ducks consisting of 60 males and 54 females. Ducks are raised intensively and extensively or traditionally in Bayang District. This study used the observation method by calculating the mean, standar deviation, and coefficient of variation. Data were analyzed using the t-test to see the effect of sex and rearing system. The variables observed in this study were body weight (BW), chest circumference (CC), beak length (BL), wing bone length (WBL), shank length (SL), shank circumference (SC), femur length (FL), tibia length (TL), and Back Length (BAL). The results showed that sex had a significant effect (P<0.01) on FL and (P<0.05) on SL and CC. The rearing system had a significant effect (P<0.05) on SC and FL in male Bayang ducks. The coefficient of variation (CV) in male Bayang ducks was moderate (>5-15%) except for TL which was small (<5%). While in female Bayang ducks WBL and TL have CV classified as low, CC classified as high and other traits classified as medium. The conclusion of this study is that sex and rearing system affect the quantitative characteristics of Bayang ducks and the CV of Bayang ducks is low to high.

Abstract

Itik Bayang merupakan salah satu plasma nutfah ternak unggas Sumatera barat yang telah ditetapkan berdasarkan Kepmentan 2012, No 2835/Ktsp/Lb. 430. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengindetifikasi keragaman karakter kualitatif dan morfometrik itik Bayang sebagai dasar untuk pengembanngan dan pelestariannya. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini untuk morfometrik 130 itik Bayang yang sudah dewasa kelamin yang terdiri dari 100 ekor itik betina dan 30 ekor itik jantan. Sedangkan untuk karakter kualitatif sebanyak 617 ekor itik Bayang dewasa kelamin yang terdiri dari 576 ekor itik betina dan 41 ekor itik jantan. Data penelitian diambil dari 19 peternak di Kecamatan Bayang Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. Peubah yang diamati untuk karakter kualitatif yang sesuai dengan Kepmentan dan morfometrik. Analisis data yang dilakukan adalah analisis statistik deskriptif dengan menghitung rataan, standar deviasi dan koefisien keragaman dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunujjan karakter kualitatif itik Bayang memiliki persentase fenotipe berkisar antara 43,90-93,23%. Karakter kualitatif yang dapat di klasifikasikan sesuai dengan Kepmentan 2012 adalah pada itik jantan warna bulu bagian kepala, warna bulu dada dan warna bulu punggung coklat tua. Itik Bayang betina memiliki frekuensi fenotipe kualitatif yang sesuai >75%. Keragaman morfometrik itik Bayang berkisar antara rendah dan tinggi Koefisien keragaman yang tertinggi pada bobot badan itik betina sebesar 15,17%. Sedangkan itik Bayang jantan panjang punggung sebesar 14,12 %.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the effect of restricted feeding period and refeeding on muscovy duck performance in the starter period. This study used 100 male day-old duck of Muscovy ducks that were kept for 1 day to 9 weeks of age. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The ratio given was 30% of the normal ratio. The treatment of restricted feeding period were ad libitum (A), 1 week (B) 2 weeks (C) 3 weeks (D) and 4 weeks (E)  The variables observed were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion (FCR) protein intake, growth rate, carcass and carcass percentage. The results showed that feed restriction had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on feed consumption and FCR but had no significant effect (P>0.05) on protein intake, feed conversion ratio (FCR), growth rate, carcass, and carcass percentage. It can be concluded that treatment D (3-week restriction) showed the best performance with a feed consumption of 903.64 g/head/week, a body weight gain of 170.18/head/week, FCR 5.72, a carcass of 843 g, and a carcass percentage of 57.88%.

Abstract

Abstrak Itik Pitalah merupakan salah satu sumber daya genetik yang telah disahkan sebagai rumpun itik lokal asli Sumatera Barat. Keunggulan yang dimiliki oleh itik Pitalah adalah daya adaptasi yang baik. Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) berperan dalam proses perkembangan folikel dan sekresi hormon steroid yang berfungsi dalam proses pembentukan kuning telur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keragaman gen Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) pada itik Pitalah Sumatera Barat dengan menggunakan sampel darah dari 45 ekor itik Pitalah betina. DNA isolasi diamplifikasi dengan menggunakan sepasang primer forward  dan reverse yang didesain berdasarkan GeneBank DQ232890.1 dengan target fragmen 318 bp. DNA hasil amplifikasi disekuensing menggunakan jasa 1st Base Singapore untuk mengetahui keragaman gen Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 11 titik keragaman pada daerah target gen Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH). Keragaman gen Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) ini bersifat polimorfik dan populasi itik Pitalah tidak berada dalam keseimbangan Hardy-Weinberg.Kata kunci: FSH; Itik Pitalah; Keragaman; Mutasi; Sekuensing

Abstract

AbstrakProlaktin merupakan hormon polipeptida yang disekresikan oleh kelenjar pituitary anterior dan secara spesifik kandidat gen yang mengontrol variasi jumlah produksi telur dengan reduksi biosintesis telur dalam beberapa periode mengeram. Tujuan penelitian ini  adalah untuk menganalisis keragaman gen Prolaktin pada itik Pitalah. Ekstraksi yang dilakukan pada sampel darah 45 ekor itik Pitalah dengan menggunakan protocol G-spinTM Total DNA Extraction Mini Kit dari Intron Biotechnology. Selanjutnya diamplifikasi dengan menggunakan sepasang primer forward 5’- CTG CAT CTG TGG ACA TTG CT-3’ dan reverse 5’GAA GCA GGT TTG GGA GTA CG-3’ dengan target fragmen 496 bp dan disekuensing menggunakan jasa 1sr Base Singapore. Data hasil sekuensing dianalisis menggunakan Seqmen DNASTAR dan MEGA 11 dan menunjukkan 14 keragaman pada daerah ekson 4 dan parsial intron 3 dan 4 pada titik mutasi INDEL 3703A, INDEL3939A, C3974A, A4030G, A4038C, T4056C, G4061A, T4091G, T4094A, T4098C, G4102A, C4106A, A4107C dan C4154G. Keragaman gen Prolaktin bersifat polimorfik dengan frekuensi genotype tidak dalam keseimbangan Hardy-Weinberg. Kata Kunci: Prolaktin, Itik Pitalah, Keragaman, Mutasi, Mutasi, Sekuensing

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine external genetic characteristic that contents cualitatif and cuantitatif traits native chicken at Sungai Pagu Solok Selatan region. This reseachs using 150 native chicken which is 50 male and 100 female in mature period. Reseachs method by survey and sampling method using multi stage random sampling. Data analized by statistic descriptive. Results of this research showed that feather color of male is wild feather type 38%, gold 22%, black 14%, white 10%, bar 10%, and columbian 6%. Single comb pattern 44%, rose 32%, pea 16%, and walnut 4%. Legs color skin(shank) yellow/white 74% and black 26%. Feather color at female is black 50%, bar 17%, gold 12%, white 10%, wild feather type 5%, columbian 4% and white silver(S) 2%. Pea comb pattern 48%, walnut 25%, single 21%, rose 6%. Legs color skin yellow/white 66% and black 34%. The male length of tarsometatarsus was 103.60 mm, tibia 144.48 mm, femur 109.24 mm, comb height 23.15 mm, body weight 1.90 kg, wing length 218.41 mm, length of third legs toe 73.20 mm. While, on the female has length of tarsometatarsus 81.07 mm, tibia 125.34 mm, femur 95.39 mm, comb height 9.89 mm, body weight 1.36 kg, measures of os pubic 30.06 mm, wing length 188.65 mm, and length of third legs toe were 63.52 mm.

Abstract

Program UPSUS SIWAB adalah Upaya Khusus Sapi Indukan Wajib Bunting yang merupakan keberlanjutan proram pemerintah dari program swasembada daging. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini untukmengetahui implementasi teknologi reproduksi melalui program UPSUS SIWAB dan ruang lingkup berbagai aspekterhadap pemberdayaan masyarakatdi Kecamatan Bayang, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penyuluhan atau sosialisasi, survey dengan hasil wawancara langsung, dan kuisioner dengan masyarakat berbagai kalangan, dan peternak. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Kegiatan ini di Kecamatan Bayang, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan program UPSUS SIWAB tahun 2018 di Kecamatan Bayang, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan belum 100% terlaksana, namun informasi program UPSUS SIWAB ini diketahui peternak sebanyak 80% dari penyuluhan Dinas Peternakan dan 20% lainnya dari sesama peternak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan atau sosialisasi yang dilakukan pemerintah belum menjangkau semua peternak yang ada di Kecamatan Bayang. Sementara itu, ruang lingup berbagai aspek di Kecamatan Bayang ini, sudah cukup baik pasca pelaksanaan beberapa pemberdayaan terhadap masyarakat. Diharapkan pemerintah melakukan monitoring dan evaluasi pencapaian dari program UPSUS SIWAB. Selain itu, perlu kesadaran dari masyarakat terhadap keberlanjutan dalam berbagai aspek, sehingga dapat berjalan dengan baik.

Abstract

Pitalah ducks, a germplasm of West Sumatra, have been established through the Ministerial Decree No. 293/kpts/OT.140/6/2011. The consequence of the stipulation is seen as important in maintaining the population and purity of Pitalah ducks through the selection activities of the parents and the cultivation of Pitalah ducks in Batipuh District as an area of Pitalah ducks. One effort is to empower students to the village. The specific purpose of this activity is the development, cultivation and post-harvest processing to increase community income. This activity involved 36 Unand students. The methods used include debriefing the students, socialization activities and designing the work plans and last workshop on activity plans. The implementation of activities, namely hatching eggs produced from productive broodstock from flocks made based on the characteristics of Pitalah ducks, the from hatching is intensively cultivated so that mortality is lower and growth is faster. The growth period ducks are maintained in a semi-intensive manner utilizing local food sources namely taro, water hyacinth, ampo rice plus bran, corn and snail so that the price of feed can be cheaper. Postharvest processing is carried out by providing some innovations in processing eggs and duck meat into rendang suir, rendang eggs, various variants of salted eggs that can improve people's health and income. Based on the results of the activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that there is a good response for the target community and local government, especially in the Batipuh sub-district, Tanah Datar Regency.
