Abstract

The basic idea of tonnage measurement is to determine the capacity and withdrawal of levies of a ship, which then develops into proof of ship ownership and the ship's nationality. In 1969, a conference was held regarding the measurement of ship tonnage, known as Tonnage Measurement of Ship (TMS) 1969. This rule was enacted internationally in 1982 and ratified by the Republic of Indonesia in 1989. As a form of ratification commitment, the Republic of Indonesia has regulations outlined in Law No. 17 of 2008 concerning shipping, Government Regulation No. 51 of 2002 concerning shipping, and Minister of Transportation Regulation Number PM 45 of 2021 concerning ship measurements. Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number PM 45 of 2021 concerning ship measurements is a new regulatory product. Hence, it is necessary to disseminate the regulation to the community of traditional ship owners and craftsmen. The dissemination was conducted in the Galesong District for a group of wooden boat craftsmen, TORANI, in the form of training in measuring and calculating wooden boat GT (gross tonnage) and NT (net tonnage) using domestic methods. During the training, participants showed high enthusiasm and enthusiastically asked questions about these regulations, including how to measure the GT and NT of a boat. The Training Success Indicator (IKP) is 85%, obtained from the average post-test score. The indicator percentage shows that the training was satisfactory in delivering the new regulation to the participants.

Abstract

Ethics in Islam cannot be separated from the science of morals in various branches of Islamic religious knowledge. Therefore, ethics in Islam (it could be said) is identical to the science of morals, namely the science of virtues and how to obtain them so that humans will be adorned with them and the science of despicable things and how to avoid them so that humans are free from them. Ethics, on the other hand, is often considered the same as morals. Science and religion are human achievements, which in essence, arise from the same spirit so that humans can survive. In other words, science and religion were born out of necessity, namely to answer various kinds of challenges that humans always face in their existence.

Abstract

Tolerance, in this article, is articulated as a practice of living in inter-religious communities that is no longer capable of caring for and supporting religious diversity in Indonesia. Tolerance presupposes the ability of adherents of a religious identity to endure the wounds and suffering caused by the presence of adherents of another religious identity. This article aims to offer acceptance/penerimaan and akseptansi [in Bahasa Indonesia] as a daily discourse practice to replace tolerance. Acceptance presupposes that individuals and groups of adherents of a religious identity accept the presence of adherents of another religious identity as it is, without necessarily assuming that the presence of adherents of other religions inherently brings suffering to them. This goal is achieved by deploying the identity theories of Amartya Sen and Hubert Hermans, where for these two thinkers, religious identity can always be interpreted as the presence of oneself in the presence of another self without having to tolerate [announcing oneself that the other party always brings suffering to oneself] but rather accepting another identity as it is.

Abstract

Fishing activities by fishermen in Indonesia have high-risk characteristics known as 3D: dangerous, dirty, and challenging. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to increase fishermen's knowledge at the Beba Fish Landing Base (PPI), Takalar Regency, regarding safety standards and procedures for fishing boat shipping. Through outreach activities, fishermen are provided information on safety equipment, shipping safety procedures, work safety, and occupational health. The socialization method uses brochure media with an interactive approach for each individual, including pre-test, delivery of material, and post-test to evaluate increased knowledge. The survey results showed that before the socialization, the level of fishermen's knowledge was deficient, with only 13% – 39% of the 23 fishermen understanding safety standards. After socialization, there was a significant increase of 57% – 74% of fishermen showed better understanding (increased 35% – 43%). Based on the results of this PkM activity, ongoing outreach needs to be carried out to increase awareness and implement safety procedures among fishermen to reduce the risk of accidents at sea.

Abstract

A ferry route connects two ports, between a port and a terminal, and between two terminals at a certain distance. A certain distance is the distance of the ferry trajectory that allows for round-trip ferry services. Ships departing from the port of origin to the port of destination can return to the port of origin on the same day. The trajectory distance (DFT (nautical miles) was once grouped into 8 (eight) distance groups, each connected to the gross tonnage cluster of the ship, namely: the shortest (Group 1): DFT ≤ 1.0 nautical miles; and the farthest (group 8): DFT > 120 nautical miles. The Indonesian Government implemented these distance groups in the period 2003 - 2019. Ferry trajectory distance groups are needed to calculate transportation rates and place ships on a ferry route. This study is intended to evaluate and determine the distance group by the characteristics of ferry transportation services, namely shuttle services. The grouping is based on the class of ferry ports and the technical specifications of ferry ships. The results of this study indicate that one of the eight ferry trajectory distance groups implemented, group 2.4, does not match the characteristics of ferry transportation services (shuttle services). In the distance group, 40.1 ≤ FTD (nautical miles) ≤ 80.0, ferrying or frequency of ship operations is only 1 trip/day. The distance group 2.4 must be changed to 40.9 ≤ DFT (nautical miles) ≤ 70.9 to achieve a ferrying frequency of 2 trips/day. Through this study, eight groups of clustering of ferry trajectory distance are proposed to be implemented by the Indonesian Government. The shortest and longest distance groups, are the first distance group (group of 3.1): DFT (nautical miles) ≤ 2.3; and the eighth distance group (group of 1.2): 101.9 ≤ DFT (nautical miles) ≤ 165.2. Research on passenger perceptions of safety and comfort in relation to the duration of the voyage and the dimensions of the ship needs to be carried out to ensure the grouping of ferry trajectory distances orientation are towards service quality.

Abstract

The ship production process at shipyards involves complex and critical information that must be managed effectively to ensure timely project completion. Ambiguities or delays in information exchange among departments can result in project setbacks and increased costs, which reduce revenue and undermine competitiveness. To address this, each department involved in ship construction must adopt an information system that ensures efficient communication both internally and across departments. Key information includes requirements for raw materials, consumables, workforce, production facilities, equipment, and the production methods used at each stage—factors that directly affect cost allocation. In many small shipyards across Indonesia, information is still processed and shared manually, leading to significant delays and inefficiencies. There is an urgent need for a digital information system tailored to the specific functions of each department and designed to facilitate smooth interdepartmental interaction. However, prior to system development, it is essential to understand and map the information flows within and between departments. This study focuses on the materials and interim products department, a critical part of the ship production process. The aim is to identify and map the internal information flows of this department and propose a suitable digital information system for implementation in small-scale Indonesian shipyards. By doing so, the research contributes to improving production efficiency and supports digital transformation in the domestic shipbuilding industry.
