Abstract

This study investigates teachers' views on utilizing graphic media to enhance the speaking abilities of elementary school students. Employing a qualitative approach with a literature review, the study analyzes various journals, books, and relevant scientific articles. Findings reveal that teachers generally hold a favorable attitude toward graphic media, as it helps simplify material comprehension and motivates students to engage more actively in speaking activities. Nonetheless, challenges remain, including limited access to resources and insufficient technological skills. The discussion highlights the necessity of providing teacher training and institutional support to maximize the use of graphic media. In summary, graphic media proves to be an effective tool for improving speaking skills when combined with appropriate strategies and adequate teacher expertise.

Abstract

Advances in technology have led to an increase in gadget use among students, including the activity of using electronic devices before bedtime. This study used a qualitative approach, collecting data through student questionnaires and in-depth interviews with classroom teachers. The study involved 10 Year 5 students as main respondents and 1 class teacher as a supporting respondent. The results identified four themes: (1) students' habits in using gadgets before bedtime, (2) students' views on the impact on sleep quality, (3) teachers' views on the impact on students' learning, and (4) parents' role in supervision. The results showed that the majority of 5th grade students use gadgets 30-120 minutes before bedtime, with the habit of using gadgets to play games, watch videos and use social media. This study also found that students with good parental regulation and supervision of gadget use had better sleep quality and more stable academic performance. The results of this study highlight the importance of education on the wise use of gadgets, as well as the active role of parents and schools in regulating and supervising students' digital activities, especially before bedtime, to support optimal academic development.

Abstract

Technological development has brought significant changes to the world of education, notably through the implementation of digital learning systems. However, these changes have also significantly impacted students' mental health. This research aims to analyze various factors affecting students' mental health in the digital learning era and to identify their impacts. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology using various published journals. Analysis was conducted using Huber and Miles' interactive analysis model. The results reveal that high academic workload, lack of social interaction, technology dependence, inequitable learning access, and limited emotional support are the main factors affecting students' mental health. Common impacts include academic stress, anxiety, mild to severe depression, digital fatigue, and physical health disorders. Therefore, collaborative efforts from students, families, educational institutions, and government are needed to create a healthy digital learning system.

Abstract

The arrangement of seating patterns in the classroom is one of the learning environment factors that can affect student comfort, concentration, achievement and interaction during the learning process. This study aims to determine how the influence of seating patterns in the classroom on the academic achievement of elementary school students. The method used is qualitative with data collection techniques of observation, interviews and documentation. In the interview stage, an interview was conducted with one of the teachers at SDIT Permata Kita, observation was carried out in a participatory manner, and documentation in the form of student seating patterns in the classroom, recapitulation of student grades and documentation with the teacher. The results showed that seating patterns affect classroom dynamics, student participation, and student-teacher interaction during the learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine how elementary school teachers perceive the use of digital learning resources in their lesson plans. Digital technology has many potentials to enhance students’ learning ability and engagement. This study combined case study methodology with qualitative approach. Interviews with several elementary school teachers were used to collect data. The results of the study showed that teachers have different opinions about digital learning resources. To deliver materials, increase students’ enthusiasm for learning, and provide a variety of learning materials, some educators viewed digital media as an interesting and successful medium. They also understood how important it is to incorporate technology into the current curriculum. However, other teachers expressed concerns about inadequate infrastructure as well. This study underlines the need for ongoing assistance in the form of instruction, provision of sufficient resources, and creation of a successful plan to integrate digital learning materials in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of parents in shaping the discipline of elementary school students. Discipline is a crucial aspect in supporting academic success and character development from an early age. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects consist of parents, classroom teachers, and the principal at a public elementary school. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that parents play a significant role in fostering discipline through modeling behavior, establishing routines at home, supervision, and effective communication with the school. Supporting factors include active parental involvement and awareness of the importance of character education, while obstacles include parents’ busy schedules and lack of understanding of appropriate parenting styles. This study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between school and family in sustaining students’ disciplined behavior.

Abstract

Student character is an important aspect in forming a generation that is not only academically intelligent, but also has strong moral and social values. This study aims to examine the influence of the surrounding environment, especially the school environment and social interactions, on the formation of student character at SD IT Permata Kita. The results of observations and interviews with teachers show that a religious, educational, and positively cultural school environment is able to instill strong character values ​​such as politeness, tolerance, mutual respect, and responsibility. The school also actively runs a character development program through monthly studies and the Malam Bina Iman dan Takwa (MABIT) activity. However, the negative influence of peers remains a challenge that needs to be watched out for and managed. This article is expected to be a reflection material for educators and stakeholders in an effort to strengthen student character through a positive environmental approach.

Abstract

The use of gadgets is increasingly widespread among elementary and middle school students, bringing various impacts on their learning motivation and psychosocial development. This article reviews literature related to the positive and negative effects of gadget use on school-aged children. The review results show that gadgets used as learning media can significantly enhance student participation and interest in learning. However, excessive use of gadgets for non-educational activities, such as gaming and social media, can lead to psychosocial disturbances, including difficulties in socializing, decreased learning motivation, and health issues such as sleep disorders and reduced concentration. Therefore, supervision and guidance from teachers and parents are essential so that gadgets can be optimally utilized to support the learning process and children's development.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the strategies used by the fifth-grade teacher at SDN 08 Padang Panjang 1 in addressing writing difficulties (dysgraphia) experienced by a student. Dysgraphia is a writing disorder caused by neurological abnormalities, making it difficult for children to physically express ideas in writing. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include teacher interviews and classroom observation. The results show that the teacher applies various strategies, such as multisensory learning (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), fine motor exercises, and personal motivational support. Collaborative support with parents and the use of engaging learning media are also implemented. The study concludes that the application of strategies tailored to the student's condition—such as strengthening writing motor skills, adjusting writing tasks, and using an individualized approach—is effective in improving the writing ability and self-confidence of students with dysgraphia.

Abstract

This research is prompted by the low achievement of student learning outcomes in IPAS learning, which is caused by the less than optimal implementation of the learning model carried out by the teacher. So that students are less active in participating in learning, which has an impact on the low learning outcomes of students. The purpose of this study was to describe the improvement of student learning outcomes in IPAS learning using the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type Cooperative Learning model in class V SDN 9 Sijunjung. This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK) using a qualitative research design conducted at SDN 9 Sijunjung with the subject being grade V students at SDN 9 Sijunjung consisting of 14 male students and 13 female students This research was conducted in two cycles, namely cycle I two meetings and cycle II one meeting. The research process involved four main stages: planning, action, observation and reflection. The results showed an increase from cycle I to cycle II, the average value of the learning module increased from 87.49 (B) in cycle I to 95.83 (A) in cycle II. Teacher activity also increased from an average score of 87.49 (B) cycle I to 96.42 (A) cycle II. Learner activities also increased from 87.49 (B) cycle I to 96.42 (A) cycle II. The learning outcomes of students also showed a significant increase from 75 (C) in cycle I to 91 (A) in cycle II.Overall, the Cooperative Learning model type Teams Games Tournament (TGT) has been proven to be able to improve the learning outcomes of students in class V at SDN 9 Sijunjung
