Abstract

In Hatinggian Village, precisely in Lumban Julu District, Toba District, there is an action to care for the environment that is worthy of respect. The local communities in the village have made extraordinary efforts to preserve and sustain the surrounding environment. Through the implementation of the community self-serving activities of the Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra in the village of Hatinggian, Lumban Julu district, Toba District, North Sumatera Province, which was carried out from August 25 to September 3, 2022, through interviews and field observations, it can be concluded that the activities are running well and smoothly. Through this community service activity, students participating in community service have the opportunity to implement the knowledge acquired during the lecture, then gain valuable insights and experiences from the community, such as training themselves to be responsible, having a sense of sympathy and empathy, and learning independently to find innovations and solutions to solving an existing problem.

Abstract

Kailan is a vegetable crop that has a high selling value. Efforts to improve the quality of crop yields can be made by applying organic fertilizers to meet plant nutrients and improve soil fertility. This study aims to determine the effect of vermicompost fertilizer and cow bio urine on the growth and yield of kailan plants. The research was conducted the farmland of Lubuk Pakam Batang Kuis road, Deli Serdang Regency with an altitude of ± 27 meters above sea level. The research method used is Factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK) consisting of 2 factors, namely fertilizer kascing (P) with 4 levels, namely: P0 = Control, P1 = 150 g / polybag, P2 = 300 g / polybag, P3 = 450 g / polybag and cow bio urine (B) with 3 levels namely: B1 = 200 ml/liter of water, B2 = 400 ml/liter of water, B3 = 600 ml/liter of water. Parameters measured were number of leaves, leaf area, leaf chlorophyll, plant wet weight, and harvest index. The results showed that the application of 300 g/polybag of vermicompost fertilizer significantly increased leaf area and plant wet weight, the application of 600 ml/liter of cow urine significantly increased total leaf chlorophyll. There was no interaction of the combination of the two treatments on the growth and yield of kailan. Keywords: vegetable crop, baby kailan, fertilizer kascing, cow bio urine, crop yield

Abstract

Pupuk hayati atau Biofertilizer merupakan bahan yang mengandung mikroorganisme bermanfaat bagi tanah dan tanaman yang dapat membantu menyediakan hara bagi tanaman. Sulung Research Station merupakan unit bisnis di bawah PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk, cabang usaha dari Gup Citra Borneo Indah. Sulung Research Station (SRS) memulai produksi pupuk hayati generasi pertama (Gen-1) dimana bahan baku utamanya adalah abu boiler dan mengandung mikoriza. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pupuk hayati yang diproduksi SRS terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif kelapa sawit. Pupuk hayati SRS telah mengandung konsorsium mikoriza dan mikroba bermanfaat yaitu Trichoderma sp., Sacharomyces sp., Azotobacter sp. Rizobium sp., Pseudomonas sp., dan Bacillus sp. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima taraf perlakuan dan empat kali pengulangan, termasuk satu kontrol sebagai pembanding, Biofertilizer SRS 25g/polybag, Biofertilizer SRS 50 g/polybag, Libero 25 g/polybag, Libero 50 g/polybag. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi pupuk hayati menunjukkan keragaan pertumbuhan bibit kelapa sawit yang lebih baik dibandingkan kontrol. Biofertilizer SRS dosis 50 g/polybag menunjukkan tinggi tanaman terbaik dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya. Kombinasi aplikasi pupuk anorganik dan pupuk organik hayati yang mengandung mikoriza dan mikroba bermanfaat merupakan alternatif upaya dalam peningkatan kesuburan tanah serta serapan hara pada tanaman kelapa sawit.

Abstract

Menanam pohon dilakukan dalam bentuk kepedulian manusia terhadap bumi yang akan memberikan kesejahteraan yang baik bagi manusia. Majelis Wilayah (MW) Korps Alumni HMI (KAHMI) Sumatera Utara (SUMUT), Forum Alumni HMIwati (Forhati) SUMUT, Forum DAS, Kelompok Konservasi, Pecinta Alam, Pelajar dan Warga Masyarakat melakukan aksi penanaman pohon di sekitar pinggir sungai dan melakukan susur sungai. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan memperbaiki lingkungan hidup yang sehat, memperbaiki fungsi hutan, mencegah erosi, memperbaiki kualitas udara. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Jl. PDAM Tirtanadi Gg. Lembah Berkah, Sunggal, Medan, Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah metode terjun langsung kelapagan berbaur dengan masyarakat. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini berupa penanaman pohon didaerah pinggir Sungai Belawan dan Penyusuran sungai Belawan. Oleh sebab itu, pengabdian masyarakat ini sangat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat diseputaran pinggiran Sungai Belawan.

Abstract

Banyak penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mendeteksi jamur entomopatogen di dalam tanah menggunakan metode qPCR. Namun, beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode qPCR belum mampu mendeteksi jamur di sampel tanah yang disebabkan oleh sedikitnya kemelimpahan jamur pada sampel tanah yang diuji. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, pada penelitian ini dilakukan penambahan massa jamur target di dalam tanah pada tingkat tertentu melalui metode semi-kultur dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan sensitivitas qPCR. Pertama, dipilih media selektif yang cocok untuk kultur keempat target jamur entomopatogen (Cordyceps militaris, Beauveria bassiana, Isaria fumosorosea, dan Metarhizium anisopliae). Kedua, dengan menggunakan media yang dikembangkan, hubungan antara unit pembentuk koloni (CFU) dan DNA tanah standar ditentukan. Ketiga, qPCR dilakukan terhadap ekstrak DNA yang diperoleh dari koloni jamur tiap level. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa media kultur tipe 3b menjadi media selektif yang terbaik untuk kultur jamur. Namun, hubungan linier dengan korelasi kuat antara suspensi jamur dengan nilai Ct belum dapat diperoleh sehingga metodologi semi-kultur tidak berhasil meningkatkan sensitivitas deteksi jamur entomopatogen dari sampel tanah menggunakan metode qPCR. Modifikasi ekstraksi DNA untuk meningkatkan kepadatan DNA dalam ekstrak perlu dilakukan untuk keberhasilan deteksi jamur entomopatogen.

Abstract

The study was conducted in Deli Serdang Regency at an altitude of +13 msal, starting in May-August 2024. Demand for shallots is very high, so expansion of shallot cultivation to marginal lands such as saline soils is necessary. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of ameliorants and synthetic fertilisers on the growth of several shallot varieties. The study used a split split plot design consisting of three factors, namely: First factor (S): S0 (saline soil + topsoil); S1 (saline soil + sawdust compost); S2 (saline soil + sawdust charcoal). The second factor was synthetic fertiliser (P): P1 (0.37 g/polybag (375 kg/ha)); P2 (0.75 g/polybag (750 kg/ha)); P3 (1.125 g/polybag (1,125 kg/ha). The third factor was variety (V): V1 (Bima Brebes); V2 (Batu Ijo); V3 (Sembrani), which was repeated three times. The observation data were analysed using the F test with a 5% DMRT follow-up test. The results showed that the use of the Bima Brebes variety produced the highest percentage of red onion bulb growth potential with a value of 99%, which was significantly different from the Sembrani variety (81%) and not significantly different from the Batu Ijo variety (92%). The Sembrani variety (V3) and the effectiveness of synthetic fertiliser doses can help red onion plants adapt to salinity, either with or without the aid of ameliorants.
