Abstract

Keratinase dapat diproduksi oleh Bacillus sp MD24 dengan menggunakan bulu ayam sebagai substrat. Ekstrak kasar keratinase tersebut terbukti dapat digunakan sebagai agen dehairing. Namun demikian, proses dehairing memerlukan waktu 72 jam karena rendahnya aktivitas keratinase. Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan keratinase sebagai agen dehairing. Dua hal telah dilakukan dalam upaya meningkatkan aktivitas ektrak kasar enzim yaitu peningkatan produksi enzim dan pemekatan enzim. Usaha untuk meningkatkan produksi enzim dilakukan dengan suplementasi media menggunakan sumber karbon tambahan berupa gula sederhana (sukrosa, glukosa, atau fruktosa). Sedangkan pemekatan enzim dilakukan melalui pengendapan enzim menggunakan amonium sulfat dengan tingkat kejenuhan 80%. Enzim hasil pengendapan diuji kemampuannya dalam dehairing kulit kambing pada berbagai waktu inkubasi. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suplementasi media dengan karbon sederhana memberikan hasil yang kontradiksi dimana penambahan sukrosa, glukosa, atau fruktosa justru menurunkan produksi ekstrak kasar keratinase. Sedangkan pemekatan mampu meningkatkan aktvitas enzim dari 8,79 U/mL sebesar 20,29 U/mL dan mampu menghilangkan bulu dengan waktu perendaman selama 48 jam.

Abstract

Studying hydrocarbon material requires ability in problem solving so students are able to identify, analyze, and describe abstract chemical concepts and principles into concrete. The purpose of this study was to the improving of students' hydrocarbon problem solving abilities through the SAVI learning model assisted by puzzle media. The research design used in this study was pre-experimental with a research design namely One Group Pretest-Posttest Design.The study was conducted at SMAN 7 Mataram, Jl. Adi Sucipto, Ampenan Utara, Kec. Ampenan, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara. The subjects of this study were students of class XI Science. The research instrument include syllabus, lesson plans, worksheets, and multiple choice test items. Data were analyzed using the N-Gain test to find out the increased ability to solve hydrocarbon problems. The results showed that the level of N-Gain was in the range of 0.33 with a moderate category which meant an increase in students' problem solving abilities after using the SAVI model assisted by puzzle media. Thus, it can be concluded that students' problem solving abilities can be improved through the application of SAVI learning models assisted by puzzle media.

Abstract

Diethylnitrosamine (DEN) is a metabolic product of various foods and beverages in which there are preservatives in the form of nitrate and nitrite. Nitrosamines are found in various products such as alcoholic beverages, processed meats, cigarettes, and cosmetic products. DEN is toxic and carcinogenic to organs such as the liver, lungs, kidneys, skin, stomach, and blood. In addition to giving DEN compounds, there are also CCl4 compounds as tumor promoter agents known as genotoxic substances that can increase the risk of genetic errors and stimulate cells to become malignant neoplasms. Administration of DEN and CCl4 induction can damage various organs of the body, one of which is the kidney. In a healthy body, angiogenesis plays a role in wound healing and the formation of new tissue. However, angiogenesis also contributes to carcinogenesis or the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells, and is malignant when the body is contaminated with toxic substances. Therefore, to determine the effect of the administration of DEN and CCl4 observations were made using the immunohistochemical method, to see differences in the histology of the kidneys of experimental animals, the positive control group, and the negative control group based on the VEGF angiogenesis factor. From these results, there are significant differences. In the negative group, there was no necrosis and high-value VEGF expression, but in the positive group, there was necrosis and a decrease in the value of VEGF expression compared to the negative control group.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali model mental mahasiswa dalam memahami fenomena penghilangan karat melalui elektrolisis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan metode penelitian cross-section. Subyek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester III dan V Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia FKIP Universitas Mataram yang dipilih dengan purposive sampling. Model mental mahasiswa digali menggunakan tes tertulis dan wawancara semistruktur. Model mental mahasiswa dianalisis menggunakan teknik constan comparative. Hasil penenlitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa mengembangkan model mental inisial dalam memahami fenomena penghilangan karat melalui elektrolisis. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa seiring dengan bertambahnya usia individu, model mental yang dikembangkannya mendekati model mental saintifik.Kata Kunci: model mental, karat, elektrolisis.

Abstract

The beach is an attractive place to unwind from your daily routine. The beauty of the beach must always be maintained so that comfort can still be obtained for everyone who visits it. The beach becomes a comfortable place if cleanliness is maintained. Plastic waste, if any along the coast, can be carried by the waves into the ocean. Plastic waste brought to sea can be consumed by marine biota because marine biota cannot distinguish between plastic and food waste. This community service activity intends to inspire visitors (tourists), managers and traders at Balekambang beach to care about the environment. A well-preserved environment will be a legacy that will be left on the next generation. The survey results show that visitors understand the meaning of waste and are willing to dispose of waste in its place. DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v5i2.3573
