Abstract

Hadith holds an important position in the study of tafsir because it functions as an explanation of the verses of the Qur'an. However, the use of hadith in interpretation requires attention to the quality and validity of the narrations used, because the presence of da'if and maudhū' hadith can influence the understanding of the contents of the Qur'an. This study aims to analyze the existence of da'if and maudhū' hadith in Tafsir al-Khazin and explain their implications for the interpretation of the Qur'an. This study uses a qualitative method with a type of library research. The analysis was carried out by tracing the narrations used in Tafsir al-Khazin and assessing their quality based on the assessment of hadith scholars regarding sanad and matan. The results of the study show that Tafsir al-Khazin as one of the books of tafsir based on narrations contains hadith with varying quality, including narrations that are categorized as da'if and maudhū' based on the study of hadith science. The existence of these narrations does not necessarily diminish the scientific value of Tafsir al-Khazin, but rather demonstrates the characteristics of the classical exegetical tradition, which places greater emphasis on compiling various narrations to explain Quranic verses. Therefore, hadith criticism is an important aspect in tafsir studies to ensure that the use of narrations to support Quranic interpretation remains valid and scientifically justifiable.

Abstract

Happiness is a primordial longing of every human being. The Qur'an, as a divine guide, provides a comprehensive concept of happiness that transcends ordinary human understanding. This study aims to examine the concept of happiness from a Qur'anic perspective, particularly through QS. Al-Baqarah verse 216, and to explore how this concept can be implemented in daily life. The method employed is thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhu'i) using a descriptive-analytical approach based on classical and contemporary scholarly interpretations. The findings reveal that happiness in the Qur'anic view is not synonymous with material pleasure alone, but encompasses total submission to Allah, contentment with His decree, and firm belief that behind every trial lies a profound wisdom. QS. Al-Baqarah 216 explicitly states that perhaps what one dislikes may be good for them, and what one loves may be harmful. When applied in daily life, this concept nurtures individuals who are grateful, patient, and optimistic in facing every trial.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of infaq in Islamic law as a spiritual obligation and a social instrument aimed at fostering justice, compassion, and communal welfare. Infaq, derived from the Arabic term anfaqa–yunfiqu–infāqan, refers to the voluntary or obligatory expenditure of wealth for purposes commanded by Allah, encompassing both personal responsibilities such as family support and broader societal needs including poverty alleviation, education, healthcare, and community development. Unlike zakat, infaq is not bound by the requirements of nisab and haul, allowing all Muslims regardless of economic capacity to participate in acts of giving. The Qur’an, particularly in Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261–262, emphasizes that the value of infaq lies not merely in the amount given but in the sincerity, humility, and proper ethics of the giver. Classical exegetes such as Ibn Kathir and Al-Maraghi stress that mann (reminding others of one’s gifts) and adza (hurting the recipient) nullify the spiritual merit of infaq, highlighting the moral dimension of giving. The study outlines the pillars and conditions required for the validity of infaq, including the giver, the recipient, the property being given, and the expression of consent. It further categorizes infaq into permissible, obligatory, prohibited, and recommended forms. Ethical principles include secrecy, empathy, consistency, and giving according to one’s means. The research also discusses the spiritual, social, and economic benefits of infaq, such as purifying the soul, eliminating miserliness, enhancing social solidarity, and promoting economic balance. In the contemporary era, infaq is implemented through humanitarian assistance, education programs, health services, disaster relief, and community empowerment initiatives.

Abstract

Interfaith relationships among the younger generation are increasingly seen as a social phenomenon considered normal amidst digital culture, social media, and modern narratives of tolerance. Love is positioned as a personal right that is often considered free from religious boundaries. This study aims to examine the concept of "limited love" in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 221 as the Qur'an's response to the phenomenon of interfaith marriage that is rampant in the Gen Z era. The method in this study uses a qualitative library research approach, primary data sources in the form of the Qur'an and classical and contemporary commentaries, as well as secondary data from journals, books, and legal regulations in Indonesia. The results show that Surah Al-Baqarah verse 221 emphasizes that faith is the main foundation in marriage, while love, physical attraction, and social status are limited by the values of faith. Amid the flow of normalization of interfaith love in the digital space, this verse remains relevant as a guideline in maintaining the balance between freedom of choice of partner and spiritual responsibility in Islam.

Abstract

This study examines the interpretation of verses on worship in the Qur'an, including prayer, fasting, zakat, hajj, knowledge, marriage, and wills, using a thematic interpretation approach (tafsīr maudhu'ī). This study aims to understand the normative and contextual meaning of verses on worship and their relevance to the formation of spirituality and the social order of Muslims. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach. Library research was chosen because this study focuses on the interpretation of verses on worship in the Qur'an as explained in various scientific works and relevant Islamic literature. The research data sources consist of written data sources in the form of the Qur'an and literature such as journal articles, textbooks, and scientific works that discuss the interpretation of verses on worship. The results of the study indicate that worship in the Qur'an is not only ritual in dimension, but also has moral, social, and humanitarian implications. Prayer fosters spiritual discipline, fasting fosters piety and social empathy, zakat fosters economic justice, the hajj fosters moral awareness and unity among the people, knowledge forms the basis for perfect worship, marriage fosters social peace, and a will ensures post-mortem justice. Abstract

Worship is a fundamental concept in Islamic teachings, directly related to the purpose of human creation. However, in the practice of Muslims, worship is often understood as a limited formal ritual activity, thus not fully grasping it as a concept encompassing all dimensions of life. Therefore, this article aims to examine the verses of the Quran and the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) relating to worship to confirm that worship is the primary purpose of human creation. This research uses a qualitative approach with library research, with the primary data sources being the Quran and the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), supported by relevant Islamic books and scholarly articles. The data were analyzed using thematic descriptive-analytical methods. The results show that worship, from the perspective of the Quran and hadith, is not limited to ritual worship but encompasses all human life activities carried out with sincere intentions and in accordance with the guidance of sharia. Worship is also related to human efforts to fulfill their role as servants of God and prepare for life in this world and the hereafter in accordance with the purpose of their creation.
