Abstract

Waste is a major problem faced by Indonesia that must be resolved immediately. Along with the increasing population, consumption levels and technological advances are factors in the increasing amount of waste produced. Muara Enim Regency has 22 (twenty-two) Districts, currently the coverage of waste services has only reached 29.44%, only able to serve 2 (two) Districts, namely Muara Enim District and Lawang Kidul District under the supervision of the Muara Enim Waste UPTD and Lawang Kidul Waste UPTD, with 1 (one) existing Final Processing Site (TPA) namely the Bukit Kancil TPA located in Muara Enim City. Muara Enim District. Which causes low service coverage, waste handling percentage. This study aims to determine the right waste management to be implemented in Muara Enim Regency.

Abstract

Tourist attractions have an important role in the economic development of a region, but can also cause negative impacts such as environmental pollution due to operational activities of tourist attractions that invite many visitors which can produce waste. The purpose of this paper is to identify and analyze the environmental impacts that occur due to operational activities of the Sriwijaya Kingdom Archaeological Park in Palembang City. The research method used is survey and observation as well as sampling of ambient water and air quality which will later be analyzed by an accredited laboratory. Furthermore, the data analysis carried out is in the form of descriptive data analysis. The results of testing air and surface water quality samples showed that all parameters tested did not exceed the established environmental quality standards, and the noise level also did not exceed the threshold. For the magnitude of traffic congestion, a V/C value of 0.31 was obtained, which indicates that the traffic flow generated from this activity is a stable flow. Thus, the operational activities of the Sriwijaya Kingdom Archaeological Park tourist attraction do not affect environmental quality, but it is necessary to monitor the water quality around the location of the activity.

Abstract

Roads are one of the means of land transportation and will continue to develop as one of the transportation infrastructures to meet the needs of the community in carrying out various activities. Road development is one of the things that continues to experience progress in terms of technology and the mindset of the people who use it, so that roads are an important place for the community. Jalan Tanding Marga to SEI Dua, Karang Tanding Village, North Penukal District is also a frequently used access road where the current condition still does not have a pavement construction so that planning is needed for the geometry and type of pavement. The research method carried out through several stages, namely topographic surveys, investigations of existing conditions, geometric planning of roads in the Geometric Planning Procedures for Roads issued by the Directorate General of Highways No.038/BM/1997 and determination of the thickness of the road pavement according to SNI 03-1732-1989. The results of the study showed that the design speed plan was 40 km/hour which met the technical requirements. The results of the analysis show that the recommended types of flexible pavement layers can use the AC-Base, AC-BC and AC-WC types with thicknesses of 150 mm, 60 mm and 40 mm respectively.

Abstract

Keberadaan air bersih merupakan kebutuhan mendasar bagi kelangsungan hidup manusia. Air bersih  pada pemukiman yang terletak pada radius terdekat dengan kegiatan pertambangan memiliki potensi terjadi pencemaran lingkungan terutama pencemaran air permukaan dan air tanah. Oleh karena itu, pemukiman masyarakat di sekitar tambang untuk melakukan pengecekan secara berkala terhadap kualitas air sumur guna meminimalisir penggunaan air tercemar. Upaya perbaikan kualitas air dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai metode salah satunya dengan filtrasi dengan bahan sederhana. Namun seiring dengan perkembangannya, metode filtrasi air bukan sekedar untuk mendapatkan kejernihan air namun dapat menurunkan konsentrasi logam berbahaya dalam air. Untuk itu, pada teknologi filtrasi ditambahkan bahan-bahan aktif seperti zeolite, karbon, dan silika fly ash dan bottom ash sebagai bahan penyerap logam berat. Sehingga kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) bertujuan untuk berbagi ilmu dari hasil riset penulis melalui sosialisasi ke masyarakat mengenai keberhasilan teknologi filtrasi sederhana yang divariasikan dengan material fly ash dan bottom ash (FABA) dalam meningkatkan kualitas air. Kegiatan PKM dilaksanakan di Desa Karang Raja, Kabupaten Muara Enim, Sumatera Selatan yang dihadiri oleh perangkat desa Karang Raja dan petani  dan kegiatan sosialisasi dilakukan dengan 2 sesi yaitu sesi pertama penyampaian materi dan diskusi kemudian sesi kedua melakukan pengujian alat filtrasi FABA menggunakan air sampel di Kantor Desa Karang Raja. Hasil dari kegiatan PKM ini adalah masyarakat mengetahui bahwa air sumur di kantor desa Karang Raja memiliki pH yang rendah yaitu pH 4 sehingga tidak disarankan untuk digunakan untuk keperluan sanitasi karena dapat menyebabkan gangguan kesehatan. Adanya pH rendah pada air memiliki indikasi memiliki kandungan logam yang tinggi dalam air. Sehingga jika air tersebut digunakan dapat terjadi gangguan kesehatan pada kulit dan pencernaan. Sedangkan air hasil filtrasi air dengan variasi FABA meningkatkan dari pH 4 menjadi pH 7. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kinerja alat filtrasi dengan variasi FABA berhasil meningkatkan pH air. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah masyarakat menjadi sadar bahwa air sumur yang selama ini digunakan memiliki pH rendah dan upaya peningkatan pH dapat dilakukan dengan filtrasi sederhana sekaligus masyarakat sangat antusias terlibat pada kegiatan PKM ini dan diharapkan keberlanjutan kegiatan.
