Abstract

A quasi-experimental study has been conducted at Samarinda senior high school. The study was carried out in the odd semester of the 2016/2017 learning year, the X1th class of the Department of Natural Sciences. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of the application of combined of problem based learning and Cooperative script to the understanding of student biology concept.  The study design was nonequivalent pretest - posttest control group design.  The sample of research is the students of class XI taken by purposive sampling.  Research instrument in the form of test questions. Data analysis technique is t test for unpaired sample. The result of data analysis shows that the tcount is -15,05; and ttable value (df = 54), (α = 0,05; 1 2α = 0,025) is 2,00; it is concluded that there is influence of application of combined of problem based learning and Cooperative script to understanding student biology concept.  Similar research needs to be done by taking larger sample numbers to get more information.

Abstract

Sebuah penelitian eksperimen semu dilakukan pada siswa kelas XI IPA SMA multietnis di kota Samarinda. Penelitian ditujukan untuk  mengetahui pengaruh strategi pembelajaran, etnis, dan interaksi strategi pembelajaran-etnis terhadap sikap sosial siswa. Strategi pembelajaran meliputi  Cooperative Script  (CS),  Think Pair Share  (TPS),  CS+TPS, dan pembelajaran konvensional. Sementara itu, etnis terdiri dari etnis Jawa, Bugis, Banjar, dan Kutai. Penelitian dilakukan selama semester ganjil, tahun pelajaran 2012/2013. Enam kelas yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah setara berdasarkan skor Ujian Akhir Nasional. Analisis data menggunakan ancova faktorial  pada taraf signikansi 5% (p<0,05). Berkaitan dengan interaksi antara strategi pembelajaran dan etnis, hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa interaksi berpengaruh terhadap sikap sosial; sikap sosial pada  kombinasi  TPS+CS  Kutai tertinggi, yaitu 39,9% lebih tinggi dari sikap sosial pada  kombinasi pembelajaran konvensional Jawa (terendah). Penelitian sejenis perlu dilakukan di masa yang akan datang disamping untuk mendapatkan informasi lebih. Kata Kunci: Cooperative Script, Think-Pair-Share, Sikap Sosial, IPA-Biologi, Siswa multietnis

Abstract

A quasi-experimental study was conducted in the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Mulawarman. The learning is applied in the classroom, is expected to provide the necessary learning outcomes by learners for their life. Critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes, are needed by the students, to life in the 21st century. Nevertheless, critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes is still volatile and tends to decline in the last three years, especially in subjects Bacteriology, the students of Biology Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Mulawarman. Application of Think-Pair-Share (TPS) learning model, allowing students to interact with fellow students, and mutually reinforcing and complementary. The  aims of research is to know:  1) the effect of the use of TPS learning model to critical thinking skills of students, 2)the effect of the use of TPS learning model to student’s bacteriological cognotive learning outcomes on bacteriological.  The sample  is the student of Biology Education who took a course of bacteriology in the second semester of academic year 2014/2015, which consists of thirty pairs. Sampling is by purposive sampling. Measuring tools such as critical thinking skills, and bacteriological cognitive learning outcomes test. The data analysis using the t test for paired samples. The t test results showed that for the critical thinking skills t value = 3.7, while t table with df = n1+n2-2 = 60-2 = 58, with α = 0.05 is 2.0; so t hitung˃t table. While for the cognitive learning bacteriology, t = 1.8, while t table with df = n1 + n2-2 = 60-2 = 58, with α = 0.05 is 2.0; so t hitung˂t table. Thus it can be said that there is the effect of the use of TPS learning model to critical thinking skills; but has no effect on the student’s bacteriological cognitive learning outcomes. Students have the opportunity to interact with fellow students, discuss, and complementary, in solving the problem of Bacteriology in the classes that implement TPS learning model.Keywords: Think-Pair-Share, Critical Thinking Skills, Cognitive Learning Outcomes, Bacteriology

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui permasalahan yang terjadi pada proses pembelajaran Biologi khususnya pada pemahaman guru mengenai media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan, penerapan media pembelajaran di kelas. Sampel pengamatan adalah guru Biologi di SMA Samarinda. Hasil pengamatan menunjukan bahwa sebanyak 75% guru tidak menggunakan media pembelajaran. Solusi untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan menerapkan media pembelajaran berbasis aplikasi mobile learning dengan teknik mnemonic verbal, namun tidak semua guru mengerti tentang media pembelajaran berbasis aplikasi mobile learning dengan teknik mnemonic verbal. Dari hasil pengamatan dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlu ditingkatkan pemahaman guru tentang pengembangan dan pemanfaatan media pembelajaran dikelas.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze (1) the influence of SETS and Contextual learning models on the Scientific Attitudes of students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon, and (2) the influence of sets and contextual learning models on the critical thinking skills of students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon, (3) the influence of sets and contextual learning models on scientific attitudes and critical thinking skills of students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon simultaneously. The hypotheses tested were: (1) SETS and Contextual learning models affect the Scientific Attitudes of students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengaland on, (2) SETS and Contextual learning models have an effect on the critical thinking skills of students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon, (3) sets and contextual learning models affect scientific attitudes and critical thinking skills of students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon Simultaneously. This type of research includes Quasi-Experimental Design. The target population is all students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon Year of Study 2021/2022, the number of research samples as many as 77 students. Research instruments use scientific attitude questionnaires and tests of critical thinking skills. Research data were analyzed using MANCOVA's One Way statistical test. The results showed that: (1) There was no effect of sets and contextual learning model on the scientific attitude of students of class XI of SmK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon with partial eta squared value p2 = 0.3%. (2) There is an influence of sets and contextual learning models on the critical thinking skills of students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon with partial eta squared values p2 = 86.61%, and (3) There is an influence of sets learning model and on scientific attitudes and critical thinking skills of students of class XI SMK Negeri 1 Telen and SMK Negeri 2 Bengalon simultaneously with partial value eta squared p2 = 76.90%.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the growth and production of paprika (Capsicum annum var. Grossum) when treated with liquid organic fertilizer mixed with gamal leaves and kepok banana peels, and to recommend the optimal dose for this treatment. Plantation land on Jalan Maridan Riko in Maridan Village, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser District, East Kalimantan was surveyed for this study. Five different doses, labeled P0 (Control), P1 (40 ml), P2 (80 ml), P3 (120 ml), and P4 (160 ml), were tested in a randomized block design trial. Plant height among the measured variables, number of leaves, number of fruits, fruit weight. Based on the results of analysis of plant height growth data Fcount (6.88) > Ftable (2.87), analysis of data on the number of plant leaves Fcount (60.92) > Ftable (2.87), analysis of data on the number of fruit Fcount (6.66) > Ftable (3.02) and results of fruit weight data analysis Fcount (2.91) > Ftable (2.87). These findings indicate that the optimal dose of liquid organic fertilizer for gamal leaves and kepok banana peels is 120 ml (P3), and this has a real impact on the development and yield of chili (Capsicum annum var. Grossum).

Abstract

Video media is a medium that provides information in the form of sound and visuals. Based on the results of observations obtained from biology education students who have received protist courses, the learning process is still centered on educators and textbooks or manuals, so students tend to be passive or lack interest and motivation to learn. Phenomena that are happening a lot at this time, for example when practicum activities take place only use manuals to find out how the activities will work, thus making some students not understand clearly the steps of the work being carried out. The purpose of this research is to increase student learning motivation in the Protist course. The application of videos can provide opportunities for students to collect information and make it easier to carry out learning activities. The subjects of this study were biology education students from class of 2019 and below with the condition that they had passed the protista course with a total of 55 respondents. The research instrument was conducted using qualitative and quantitative methods. The validity test results obtained had a significant value <0.05, namely 0.000 <0.05 and the reliability test had a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.821 > 0.70. The conclusion obtained by video media is effective in helping the learning process.

Abstract

Analysis of Microplastic in Ice Cubes Around Mulawarman University Gunung Kelua sub-district, thesis for Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Mulawarman University, Research Under the Guidance of Prof. Dr. Didimus Tanah Boleng, M.Kes and Dr. Sonja Verra Tinneke Lumowa, M. Kes as supervisor I and II. This study aims to determine the microplastic in ice cubes and to determine the shape, color, and abundance of microplastics in ice cubes around Mulawarman University, Gunung Kelua sub-district. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative. Sampling with purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique is quantitative descriptive by identifying and classifying it based on the shape, color, and abundance of microplastics in the ice cubes. The results of the research on the analysis of the microplastic in ice cubes around Mulawarman University Gunung Kelua sub-district, showed that all samples of the tested ice cubes contained positive microplastics. Microplastics in ice cubes with AMIU 1 as raw material have an abundance of 10 particles/L in the form of fibers, fragments and films with black, red, blue and transparent colors. Microplastics in ice cubes with AMIU 2 raw materials have an abundance of 9 particles/L in the form of fibers and fragments with black and red colors. Microplastics in ice cubes with PDAM 1 as raw material have an abundance of 22 particles/L in the form of fibers, fragments, and films with black, red, blue, purple, transparent, and yellow colors. Microplastics in ice cubes made from PDAM 2 have an abundance of 17 particles in the form of fibers and fragments with black, red and blue colors. Microplastics in crystal ice cubes have an abundance of 29 particles/L in the form of fibers, fragments and films with black, red, purple and transparent colors.

Abstract

The study was intended for: 1).to know the results of validation of Flipped Classroom learning strategy to improve the results of students' cognitive learning on XI grade in SMAK Santo Fransiskus Assisi Samarinda. 2). to know the effectiveness of the development of Flipped Classroom learning strategy to improve the results of students' cognitive learning on XI grade in SMAK Santo Fransiskus Assisi Samarinda. This development research refers to development measures with the model Thiagarajan & Semmel. The design of the development is grouped over 3 comprehensive development procedures: (a) define stages (definition) (b) design stages (design) and (c) development stages (development). The product's test consists of validation tests conducted by both study and linguistics specialists and product assessments conducted through the 2 stages the control class  test to 31 students of XI grade and experimental class testing to 31 students of XI grade in SMAK Santo Fransiskus Assisi Samarinda. Data collection uses interview,observation,questionnaire for linguists and test text instruments. The study (1) resulted in Flipped Classroom learning device (2) the product produced effectively improves the cognitive value of students of XI grade in SMAK Santo Fransiskus Assisi Samarinda as a study result,shown that the pretest average of 52.48 increased in a post test of 56.38 to the control class while 53.83 increased at the post test level of 87.37. And testing t independent t test of 0.467 > 0.05,this proves that there is no significant difference between control class and experiment class during learning using Flipped Classroom to improve students' cognitive learning on Biology of XI grade in SMAK Santo Fransiskus Assisi Samarinda.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman guru terkait perangkat pembelajaran yangdikembangkan melalui model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing dan untuk mengetahui permasalahan apasaja yang dihadapi oleh guru saat mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran melalui model inkuiri terbimbing. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis kuantitatif dimana data dibuat dalam bentuk persentase. Sampel penelitian 10 orang guru IPA Biologi yang berasal dari 5 SMP di Balikpapan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan kurangnya pemahaman guru terkait perangkat pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri (Silabus, RPP, Handout, LKPD, Media dan Evaluasi) terbimbing dan banyaknya masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru pada saat pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran IPA Biologi mulai dari Silabus, RPP, Handout, LKPD, Media dan Evaluasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut disimpulkan bahwa 70% guru pemahaman terkait perangkat pembelajaran masuk dalam kategori kurang dan 75% guru mengalami permasalahan pada saat mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbimbing. Dari hasil penelitian tersebut disimpulkan bahwa perlunya mengadakan sosialisasi dan mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbimbing IPA Biologi SMP.Kata Kunci: Analisis, Guru, Perangkat Pembelajaran, Inkuiri Terbimbing, Biologi
