Abstract

The Gaung Fish Landing Base (PPI) is one of the most actively operating sites in Padang City, under the management of the Mina Gates cooperative, and is located in Gaung Market, Lubuk Begalung. Fish production at PPI Gaung comes from the catch of fishing boats that landed at the port: local fishing boats, bagan, tonda, and gillnet. There was a decrease in total fish production landed by 911.42 tons, or a decrease of 33.95% in 2021-2022. This study aims to determine what factors affect the production of catches. The research method used is the survey method, which involves making direct observations in the field and obtaining primary data from interviews with boat-bagan fishermen and secondary data from the port. The results of multiple regression analysis show that all factors have an effect. Six factors have a positive effect, and two have a negative effect. The most influential factor is the length of the trip/sea. The coefficient of determination (R2 ) is 0.757 or 75.7%. The coefficient of determination (R2) of 75.7% means that the presentation of the influence of the independent variables used in the model has an influence of 75.7% on the dependent variable, and the remaining 24.3% is influenced by other variables not included in the model. Other factors that are thought to have an influence include external factors such as the environment, weather, and existing technology. This study concludes that all factors affect the production of catches. Namely, 5 factors have a real influence: engine power, amount of fuel, area of fishing gear, number of lights, and length of trip/sea, while three factors do not significantly affect the size of the ship, the experience of the captain, and the number of crew

Abstract

The main factor for the success of bottom longline fishing depends on the type of bait, both natural bait and artificial bait. The bait serves as an attractant for the target fish so that it is attracted to prey on it. In this study, the bait used was a machete, puput, and layur fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the amount, weight and type of catch based on the appropriate type of bait so that it can be a reference for fishermen for optimal use of bait in the operation of longline fishing gear. This research was conducted in February 2022, located in the waters of Bantan Sari Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency. The method used is the experimental fishing method, by operating the fishing gear directly and analyzing using the analysis of variance and the Least Significant Difference test. Based on the research, the catches obtained were debuk fish, gelama, stingrays, and puffer, with the highest catches in terms of weight, namely stingrays as much as 61800 g

Abstract

Production of catches on hand line-fishing gear at Kutaraja Ocean Fishing Port has decreased, this is clearly seen from the level of fish production produced, which was 2.407.580 tons in 2018 compared to production in 2019, which was 2,285,750 tons. The fishing business, which has become one of the livelihoods of the Indonesian people, is a little riskier compared to other businesses because the fish which are the main target of this business is always moving dynamically. The research objectives were to determine productivity per GT, Trip, and ABK on hand line-fishing gear and to determine the financial feasibility analysis of fishing effort on hand line-fishing gear at Kutaraja Ocean Fishing Port. The benefits of this research are to increase knowledge and insight regarding productivity and financial analysis of the fishing line effort. The method used in this study is a survey method. The data analysis method used in this research is a descriptive analysis method. The results showed that the value of productivity per trip with large-size ships has a high amount of production compared to smaller ship sizes. This is because a larger ship has a carrying capacity or more carrying capacity. Hand line fishing with a vessel size > 30 GT has a relatively long payback period, i.e. < 5 years. While ships with a size of 5 GT. 6 GTs. 9 GTs. 22 GTs. and 24 GT have a payback period of < 3 years. Abstract

Kutaraja Ocean Fishing Port (PPS) is a fishing port that has various catch characteristics; one of the most dominant catches is skipjack tuna. The purpose of this study was to analyze the skipjack tuna catches per unit fishing effort (CPUE) and to estimate the skipjack tuna fishing season index at the Ocean Fishery Port of Kutaraja. This research was conducted in October 2021 at the Kutaraja Ocean Fishing Port using the survey method. The results of the study showed that skipjack tuna catches at the Samudera Kutaraja Fishing Port in 2016-2020 experienced quite significant fluctuations. In addition, the fishing effort is quite high so the catch of skipjack per fishing effort (CPUE) for the 2016-2020 periods has decreased. The highest CPUE value was in September 2018, namely 7.163 kg/unit, and the lowest was in January 2016, namely 483 kg/unit. In this study, it can be assumed that the peak season for skipjack tuna occurs in May, July, August, September, and October. The moderate season for skipjack tuna occurs in January, February, March, June, November, and December

Abstract

Gillnet fishing gear is an environmentally friendly fishing gear but in 2018-2020 the catch was reduced. The purpose of this study was to determine the sustainability status of gillnet fisheries based on ecological, social, and economic aspects at the Riau Province Fisheries Port Technical Unit. Data analysis in this study used Rapfish (Rapid Appraisal for Fisheries) technique. The rapfish technique is a multidisciplinary ordination technique used to evaluate/determine/compare the status of fisheries in terms of their sustainability. This study shows that in general, the sustainability index of gillnet fisheries in the Riau Province Fisheries Port Technical Unit is between the index values of 25.01-50 which is classified as less sustainable. Monte Carlo simulation results show that the distribution of sustainability index plots is at a distance that is not far and coincides with the position of the sustainability index ordination, supporting the accuracy of determining the ordination of the sustainability status examined. Sensitivity analysis showed that the attributes of changes in fish weight in the last 5 years, family participation in the utilization of fishery resources, and alternative employment and income are attributes that greatly affect the sustainability of gillnet fisheries in the Riau Province Fisheries Port Technical Unit

Abstract

EAFM or Ecosystem Approach for Fisheries Management is a concept of how to balance socio-economic goals in fisheries management while still considering knowledge, information and uncertainty about biotic, abiotic and human interactions in aquatic ecosystems through a comprehensive and sustainable integrated fisheries management. The fishery potential is quite large in Bungus waters and the continuous fishing activities carried out by boat lift fishermen lead to overfishing; therefore fisheries management is very necessary to realize sustainable fisheries, especially for fishery commodities. The purpose of this study was to determine the status of the management of the bagan boat fishery in Bungus pps. This research was conducted in February 2022 at the Samudra Bungus Fishing Port, West Sumatra. The method used in this study uses the method issued by the National Working Group EAFM.DIT SDI KKP; the data taken are primary data and secondary data. Analysis of the data used using an ordinal-based likert scoring with a scoring assessment of 1,2,3. The greater the value, the better the EAFM that has been run. The results of the study show that the management of capture fisheries in the fishing technique domain at PPS Bungus is still lacking in implementing EAFM with a composite value of 18.8
