Abstract

This research aims to describe the mathematical writing ability students of class VIII in finishing mathematics problem. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The sampling technique used by puposive sampling technique. The research subject were chosen by 2 students of class VIII consisting of 1 upper class student and 1 lower class student. Based on the results of data anlysis, the mathematical writing ability of upper class student fulfilling three aspect of mathematical writing ability indicators that is written texts, mathematical expressions, and drawing but it is not perfect, while lower class student only fulfilling one aspect of mathematical writing ability indicator that is drawing but not perfect. Therefore, in general the mathematical writing ability of upper class and lower class students is still not perfect because there are indicators that are less indicator fulfilled. This matter caused by misconceptions, miscalculating operations, and lack of students in understanding the material

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is a crucial skill for students to possess because it will make it easier for students to learn and master concepts in mathematics. This study aimed to describe the ability to understand mathematical concepts of junior high school students in solving integer arithmetic operations. This type of research was descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were seventh-grade students in one of the public junior high schools in Purworejo district in the 2020/2021 academic year with a good understanding. The technique of selecting the subject was purposive and snowball. The data analysis technique employed was the analysis technique of Miles & Huberman; data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicated that students' understanding of mathematical concepts in completing arithmetic operations were as follows; students could restate a concept in writing, students could provide examples and not examples of a concept they have learned, students could use and choose certain operations in solving mathematical problems, students could not present concepts in the form of mathematical representations in the form of pictures, students could not classify objects according to certain properties according to the concept, and students could not apply the concept algorithmically to problem-solving.

Abstract

The difficulties of student in solving HOTS problems are caused by some factors. One of them is student learning style. Student learning styles are divided into three types, namely visual, auditorial, and kinesthetics. This research focuses on visual learning style. This research uses a qualitative method aiming to describe the difficulties of student in solving HOTS mathematic problems by visual learning style. The subject was taken using snowball sampling and purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques were questionnaire, test, interview, and note range. Analysis techniques used on in this research were data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The result of this research was student who had a visual learning style got difficulty in using concept at problem with C6 grade. That was because the students were not familiar with HOTS problems.

Abstract

HOTS problem is a problem with high difficulties level, so that advanced proficiency are required to solve those problems. However, there are students who get difficulties in solving HOTS problems. The difficulties of students in solving problems are varied. The difficulties are caused by many factors, one of them is student learning style. Student learning styles are categorized into three types, namely kinesthetic, auditorial and visual. This research was focused on kinesthetic learning style. This research used descriptive qualitative method, so it was purposed to describe the kinestethic students difficulties in solving HOTS problems. Data were collected by quistionnarie, test and field notes. Data were analized by Miles and Hubberman analysis technique, there were data reduction, data display and conclussions drawing. The research result was that kinesthetic student get difficulties on in understanding concept level for C4 level problem. The factor of students’ difficulties is that the students are not careful in solving problem.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the mathematics learning achievement of Grade VII students of SMP using ST learning models is better than conventional learning models. This research is a quasi-experimental study that tries to compare mathematics learning achievement between students in class VII who received treatment with ST learning models and students in class VII who received treatment with conventional learning models. The population in this study was sixth-grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Purworejo, with a total of six classes. The sampling uses the Cluster Random Sampling technique by taking two types randomly ( randomly) ) of the population to determine the sample class. The research instrument was in the form of a learning achievement test in mathematics subject matter in a flat shape. Before the research conducts, the prerequisite test was done, which includes a normality test with the Lilliefors method and a homogeneity test with the Bartlett method, and a balance test with the T-test. After the achievement test data obtain, then the prerequisite tests are carried out, including the normality test with the Lilliefors method and the homogeneity test with the Bartlett method. In the final stage, a hypothesis test performed using a t-test with a significance level of ( ) 0, 05. Based on the results of data analysis with the hypothesis test shows that mathematics learning achievement of VII graders using ST learning models is better when compared to conventional learning models.

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is essential for the future of students, bearing in mind that it used to prepare students for the many challenges that will arise in their lives, careers, and at the level of their obligations and responsibilities. Critical thinking ability is crucial for students to master so that students are more skilled in preparing an argument, checking the credibility of a source, or making a decision. Critical thinking ability is an essential component that students must-have, especially in the process of learning mathematics. That student can create or formulate, identify, interpret, and plan problem-solving. Critical thinking is a high-level ability to think in terms of analyzing, managing strategies, evaluating, building a logical and clear argument, and drawing conclusions in solving a problem. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The purpose of this study is to describe the students' critical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems in the material of the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV). The subjects of this study were students of class VIII (eight) who had high mathematical abilities at one of the public Junior High Schools in Purworejo. Based on the results of research and discussion, students' critical thinking ability in solving mathematics problems of junior high school students who have top mathematical skills have been able to achieve all the indicators of critical thinking.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya peningkatan kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran resitasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPS 3 SMA Negeri 2 Purworejo, yaitu sebanyak 36 siswa. Peneltian ini dilaksanakan 2 siklus. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pengamatan, angket, tes, dan dokumentasi. Semua data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Dari penelitian diperoleh bahwa kemandirian belajar siswa dengan kriteria minimal baik pada siklus I sebanyak 17 siswa atau sebesar 47,22%  dan pada siklus II sebanyak 30 siswa atau sebesar 83,33%. Jadi dari siklus I dan siklus II mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 13 siswa atau sebesar 36,11 % dengan rerata kemandirian belajar pada siklus II sebesar 80,15% dan sudah mencapai target minimal 76%. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika pada siklus I terdapat 18 siswa yang memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika dengan kriteria minimal baik atau sebesar 50% dan pada siklus II sebanyak 27 siswa atau sebesar 75%. Jadi dari siklus I dan siklus II mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 9 siswa atau sebesar 25% dengan rerata kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika pada siklus II sebesar 85,53% juga  sudah mencapai target minimal 76%. Dengan demikian penerapan metode Resitasi pada pembelajaran matematika mampu meningkatkan kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa.Kata kunci: kemandirian belajar, pemecahan masalah matematika, resitasi

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan model pembelajaran blended learning berbantuan edmodo terhadap penalaran matematis siswa kelas X SMK Kesehatan Purworejo. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMK Kesehatan Purworejo. Populasi penelitian berasal dari siswa kelas X tahun ajaran 2021/2022 sebanyak 5 kelas. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Cluster Random Sampling diperoleh kelas X Keperawatan 1 (kelas eksperimen) dan kelas X Keperawatan 2 (kelas kontrol). Perlakuan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran blended learning berbantuan Edmodo dan whatsapp. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode dokumentasi berupa nilai Penilaian Tengah Semester (PTS) Gasal tahun ajaran 2021/2022 sebagai data prasyarat dan tes penalaran matematis. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes tertulis berupa soal penalaran matematis. Teknik analisis data uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t univariat dengan  . Hasil analisis data uji hipotesis variabel penalaran matematis diperoleh nilai dengan taraf signifikansi dengan  dan . Nilai sehingga diterima. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran blended learning berbantuan Edmodo tidak lebih efektif memberikan penalaran matematis siswa karena rerata nilai tes penalaran matematis lebih tinggi dibanding kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini terjadi kontradiksi antara hipotesis dengan kenyataan di kelas. Saat pembelajaran di kelas sebagian siswa yang tidak memperhatikan penjelasan peneliti dan saat pembelajaran dilakukan secara online peneliti tidak dapat memastikan apakah siswa mengikuti pembelajaran dengan baik. Kata Kunci: blended learning, aplikasi Edmodo, penalaran matematis

Abstract

This study aims to determine that the mathematics learning achievement of students who use the SAVI learning model is better than that of students who use the LT learning model in class VIII students in MTs. This study used 2 classes, namely class VIII A and VIII C, which were obtained using simple random sampling. Methods of data collection using the method of documentation and tests. The normality test uses the Lilliefors method, the homogeneity test of variance uses the Bartlett method, the balance test uses the t-test, and the hypothesis test uses the t-test with a significant level of = 0.025. The average control class was 77,226, and the experimental class was 79,194. The results of hypothesis testing using the right-hand t-test obtained count = 0.492 while table = 2.299, DK ={ t|t > 2.299}, this indicates that count DK. The conclusion of this study is that H0 is accepted, meaning that the mathematics learning achievement of students using the Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual (SAVI) learning model is not better than the mathematics learning achievement of students using the Listening Team learning model in class VIII students in MTs. The formation of groups from the two cooperative learning models, namely Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual (SAVI) and Listening Teams, resulted in both models giving the same results when applied in the classroom. Therefore, both models can contribute to improving student achievement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan numerasi pada tipe kepribadian ekstrovert dan introvert siswa SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu 3 siswa dengan tipe kepribadian ekstrovert dan 2 siswa dengan tipe kepribadian introvert. Teknik pengampilan subjek yang digunakan adalah teknik purposive sampling. Pemilihan subjek dilakukan dengan menggunakan tes setara PISA konten ruang dan bentuk (space and shape) yang didasarkan pada hasil jawaban dari tes EPI dengan tujuan untuk mengelompokan siswa yang memiliki tipe kepribadian ekstrovert dan  introvert. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan tes EPI, tes setara PISA konten space and shape, catatan lapangan, dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data menggunakan tiga tahap yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Uji validitas dalam penelitian ini adalah uji kredibilitas dengan triangulasi teknik yaitu tes, catatan lapangan, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: (1) Kemampuan numerasi siswa ekstrovert mampu mencapai semua indikator pada level 1 dan level 2. (2) Kemampuan numerasi siswa introvert mampu mencapai semua indikator pada level 1 sampai dengan level 4.
