Abstract

Application of Pre-Order System in Marketing of Chili Horticultural Commodities The agricultural sector has an important role in the Indonesian economy. One of the agricultural sub-sectors that is needed in daily life in relation to cooking spices is chili (Capsicum annum L). Chili is very much needed so it should always be available in sufficient quantities and at an affordable price. The purpose of this study: (1) to find out the pre-order system applied at Pasar STA Baturiti, Tabanan Regency, (2) to know the marketing channels for chili horticultural commodities and farmer's share in marketing the pre-order system at Pasar STA Baturiti, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency. This research is descriptive qualitative. This research was conducted at Pasar STA Baturiti, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency. This research is secondary data. Data collection was done by interview method and documentation method. Respondents in this study were farmers and collectors of chili horticultural commodities in Pasar STA Baturiti. This research has found that the pre-order system in purchasing chili can be implemented by having to meet the related requirements and conditions. These terms and conditions include: farmers and buyers have a good relationship and trust each other, farmers have the ability to fulfill orders that have been placed by buyers, and there is an agreement that binds both parties, including: the number of chilies ordered, the time the chili is delivered, the quality , prices and terms of payment. Marketing channels play an important role in the chili sales process so that it reaches consumers. There are two types of chili marketing channels at Pasar STA Baturiti. The channels are Farmers – Pre-order traders – Retailers – consumers and Farmers – Wholesalers – Retailers - consumers. Sales with a pre-order system provide acceptance for farmers at the ideal farmer's share level. The percentage of farmer's share in this study was 82.97%.

Abstract

The effect of inoculation of a combination of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus of Glomus and Acaulospora on micropropagated banana plantlets cultivar Raja from Bali during the acclimatization phase was investigated. The experiment was conducted at the Experimental Station of the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University, Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, over the period of March to June 2022. The objective of this research was to evaluate the impact of various doses of mycorrhizae on the growth of tissue culture banana plantlets that had undergone acclimatization for a period of six weeks. A total of five different doses of mycorrhiza were applied to the acclimatized plantlets, namely M0=without mycorrhiza and M5=5g mycorrhiza.kg-1, M10=10 g mycorrhiza.kg-1, M15=15 g mycorrhiza.kg-1, M20=20 g mycorrhiza.kg-1. A significant effect was discovered at M15; however, compared to M20, M20 gave better results for root length and fresh weight of the above-ground part, indicating the best dose was 20 g mycorrhiza kg-1. This study concluded that mycorrhiza has a very significant role in supporting the growth of micro propagated banana plantlets at post-acclimatization. Variables observed, such as the average number of leaves, stem diameter, above-ground plant fresh and dry weight, and root fresh and dry weight, increased with the application of AMF (Glomus and Acaulospora).

Abstract

Coconut sugar production represents a vital component of the rural economic structure in Besan Village, Dawan District, Klungkung Regency. However, the sustainability of this household-based enterprise faces multifaceted challenges related to economic, social, environmental, institutional, and technological aspects. This study aims to assess the current sustainability status, identify the most influential attributes, and formulate improvement scenarios for household-scale coconut sugar enterprises. A mixed-methods approach was employed, utilizing primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to 15 key informants, supported by relevant secondary data. The data were analyzed using the Multiaspect Sustainability Analysis (MSA) method. The application of MSA in this study offers a holistic evaluative framework for assessing the sustainability of small-scale, local agro-industries—an approach that has rarely been applied to traditional production systems such as coconut sugar. The results show that the current sustainability level falls into the low category, with a score of 44.56. Sensitive attributes include environmental pollution, financial record-keeping, social security, access to financing, and digital marketing adoption. The first improvement scenario raised the score to 70.51, indicating a sustainable status, while the second scenario achieved 88.47, categorized as very sustainable. These findings provide empirical foundations for policy formulation and development strategies to strengthen the long-term sustainability of household-based coconut sugar enterprises in rural areas.

Abstract

Indonesian palm sugar commodities still face challenges such as household-scale production industries, lack of farmers’ knowledge, and quality standard compliance. There is a need to improve the processing industry and quality to meet national and international standards. This study analyzes and evaluates the competitiveness of Indonesian palm sugar in the international market using secondary data from 1998-2022 with quantitative descriptive statistics methods. Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) analysis shows that Indonesian palm sugar was not competitive from 1998 to 2010, with a value of <1, but became competitive from 2011 to 2022 with a value of >1. Error Correction Model (ECM) analysis reveals that factors affecting the competitiveness of palm sugar were export volume and export price, while the exchange rate of Rupiah to US Dollar and Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita had no impact. The competitive position of Indonesian palm sugar using Export Product Dynamic (EPD) shows an average position of falling star, followed by rising star, retreat, and lost opportunity.
