Abstract

Although adversity quotient (AQ) has been widely examined in relation to academic resilience and stress among university students, little is known about how AQ is experienced by students in professional psychology education, who face intensive academic, emotional, and practicum-related demands. This study therefore aimed to explore the lived experiences of AQ among students in the Professional Psychology Education Program at University X. A qualitative phenomenological design was employed, and data were collected through semi-structured interviews with three students selected using purposive sampling. The interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns underlying participants' experiences of coping with professional education challenges. The findings revealed six major themes that characterize students' AQ. Four themes—Control, Origin and Ownership, Reach, and Endurance—correspond  to Stoltz's AQ framework and describe students' abilities to regulate themselves, assume responsibility for difficulties, limit the impact of adversity, and persist through academic and practicum challenges. More importantly, the study identified two additional themes, namely social support and spirituality, which emerged as essential contextual resources that strengthen students' resilience throughout their professional education. These findings suggest that students' AQ is shaped not only by individual psychological capacities but also by supportive interpersonal relationships and spiritual meaning-making processes. Conceptually, this study suggests that the existing AQ framework may be enriched by considering the role of contextual resources within the professional psychology education setting, where resilience is shaped through dynamic interactions among personal, social, and transcendental factors. The findings provide a richer contextual understanding of AQ and offer practical implications for designing professional education environments that foster psychological resilience through academic support, social connectedness, and spiritual well-being.

Abstract

Community knowledge in health empowerment strategies is a crucial element for the success of health programmes. However, many factors influence the level of public knowledge about a programme. This study aims to identify the relationship between demographic factors such as gender, age, education, and occupation, and the level of community knowledge about the Desa SIAGA programme as a community empowerment approach to improve maternal and neonatal health. This research employs a descriptive correlational design with a quantitative survey method. The study involved 107 respondents from Desa Jati, Sukoharjo District, using a simple random sampling technique. The data was collected through a questionnaire survey containing questions to explore the public's knowledge about the SIAGA Village program to improve maternal and neonatal health. The collected data was then analyzed using bivariate analysis and tested using the Pearson Product Moment. The results indicate that the majority of respondents have sufficient knowledge about the Desa SIAGA programme. Age and gender were found to have a significant relationship with knowledge level, with older age and female gender being associated with better knowledge. In contrast, no significant relationship was found between education level and occupation with the level of knowledge about the Desa SIAGA programme. These findings highlight the importance of more intensive outreach and community-based approaches to improve public understanding of the Desa SIAGA programme, particularly among older age groups and men.

Abstract

Pregnancy involves profound physiological and psychosocial changes that increase vulnerability to stress and anxiety. Psychological resilience has been widely recognized as a protective factor for maternal mental health; however, existing research has largely emphasized functional outcomes, with limited attention to meaning-oriented coping processes underlying maternal adaptation. This systematic literature review aimed to synthesize empirical and conceptual evidence on meaning-oriented resilience in relation to pregnancy anxiety and maternal well-being. Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, systematic searches were conducted in Scopus and Google Scholar, yielding 26 eligible studies analyzed through theory-driven thematic synthesis. The findings indicate that psychological resilience operates as a dynamic coping process that reduces prenatal anxiety and supports emotional regulation and adjustment. Religious and spiritual coping consistently emerged as meaning-oriented mechanisms that strengthen resilience by enabling pregnant women to interpret pregnancy experiences within value-based and existential frameworks. Conceptual evidence suggests that ṣabr represents an active form of meaning-oriented resilience characterized by emotional regulation, endurance, and value-driven perseverance. While most studies focused on symptom reduction, emerging evidence highlights the role of resilience and spirituality in promoting holistic maternal well-being. This review advances a meaning-oriented framework of maternal resilience integrating psychological and Islamic perspectives and supports the incorporation of meaning-based and culturally sensitive approaches within midwifery care to enhance maternal mental health during pregnancy.

Abstract

The digital transformation in healthcare has driven the emergence of maternal health platforms as strategic innovations that bridge the gap between the limitations of conventional educational methods and the demands of modern emotional support. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of PcyCare (Pregnancy Care), a self-directed digital platform designed to integrate maternal health literacy and emotional support. A quantitative approach with a descriptive feasibility study design was employed, involving 123 participants (comprising 110 pregnant women, 8 maternal health experts, and 5 IT specialists) selected through purposive sampling from Malaysia and Indonesia. Theoretically grounded in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), data were collected via structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Scale-Content Validity Indices (S-CVI). Findings reveal that PcyCare achieved high consensus across all domains; technical feasibility received the highest rating (M=4.82,SD=0.06), followed by user experience (M=4.70,SD=0.48) and content quality (M=4.68,SD=0.11). Expert validation yielded an S-CVI of 0.94 for content relevance and 0.96 for technical stability. Integrating literacy and emotional support features significantly enhances user satisfaction and maternal self-management capacity. In conclusion, PcyCare demonstrates clear advantages over conventional methods in terms of accessibility, information clarity, and real-time psychological reassurance. This study contributes to mHealth literature by pioneering the integration of health literacy and emotional support into a single evidence-based digital intervention, offering theory-driven practical guidance for developers and policymakers to create more inclusive and sustainable maternal healthcare systems.

Abstract

Mental health workers are a group that is particularly vulnerable to psychological distress. Limited availability of mental health personnel combined with excessive workload may adversely affect their psychological well-being, both at a personal level and in the delivery of mental health services. This study aimed to explore the dynamics of psychological well-being among mental health practitioner. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews with three participants. The findings indicate that the participants’ psychological well-being was generally stable, despite the presence of work-related stress in the form of pressure and ongoing challenges. Internal factors contributing to psychological well-being included self-acceptance, adaptability, effective stress management, and a sense of meaning in both work and life. External factors, including interpersonal relationships and professional commitment, served as supportive elements for the internal factors. Together, these internal and external factors functioned as a balance against work-related stress. The study further revealed that each participant developed personal strategies to maintain and regulate their psychological well-being.

Abstract

Background: Research on pregnancy-related stress has expanded markedly alongside growing recognition of maternal mental health as a key determinant of perinatal outcomes. Evidence shows that stress during pregnancy can lead to lasting physiological and psychological consequences for both mothers and offspring. However, a comprehensive understanding of thematic development and research trajectories in this field remains limited. Purpose: To map the principal thematic domains in pregnancy-related stress research and examine the evolution of research topics, dominant scientific orientations, and methodological trends over time. Method: A bibliometric analysis was conducted on 365 Scopus-indexed articles using SciMAT. Four analytical approaches were applied: performance analysis, keyword evolution analysis, longitudinal analysis, and period-based thematic analysis. The study period (1997–2025) was divided into five intervals to capture temporal dynamics and shifts in thematic networks. Results: Core themes such as risk factors, prenatal exposure delayed effects, and anxiety disorders demonstrated high centrality and density, indicating their foundational role. Emerging themes including paternal care, circadian rhythms, and non-pharmacological therapies reflect a growing multidisciplinary and holistic orientation. Persistent gaps were identified, particularly limited validation of peripartum anxiety measures, underuse of biometric methods, and insufficient attention to culturally responsive interventions. Conclusion: This study maps pregnancy-related stress across five periods, highlighting persistent links to risk factors, prenatal exposure, and long-term outcomes. Core themes include delayed effects and anxiety disorders, with emerging focus on paternal roles, biological rhythms, and sex differences. Findings call for rigorous, longitudinal, cross-cultural research using digital tools and SciMAT insights.
