Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is a conceptual technology that aims to complement the benefits of internet connectivity that connected continuously. IoT is a paradigm that states that each object can be used as a device that can identify, sense, as long as it is connected to the telecommunications network and provides communication with other equipment that connected to the internet. PAR (Participatory Action Research) is a method that involves interested parties in assessing the actions being carried out to make changes for the better. Youth Organization is a place for the development of the young generation that grows from awareness and responsibility, and officially is supported by the government to develop the potential that exists in the area. Electrical Engineering Study Program of Universitas Kristen Maranatha supports Karang Taruna Haur Galur Sukagalih Village, Bandung City, by providing knowledge, competencies, and skills, especially in the Internet of Things technology. Through this training obtained the results that indicate an increase of 30%, specifically about the knowledge of the nature of capacitors, and knowledge of WiFi. While for some knowledge questions such as LDR, pull-up, and some symbols, a quite good correct answer percentage of around 40% (from all participants) was obtained. The motivation of participants to progress and develop is seen from 100% of participants felt training needed to be continued again.

Abstract

The equation of the ball and beam plant model has a lot of research. Generally, ball and beam plants use a lever on the part that is connected to the motor. In this paper plant ball and beam is used without a lever. The lever is changed by a circle that is moved not through the center so that it can raise and bring down the beam through the side of the circle which causes changes in the motorservo position to the movement of the ball becomes non-linear. For this reason, the equation of the existing ball and beam plant cannot be used to represent the characteristics of the plant. In this paper, ball and beam plants without levers were identified using the least square method to obtain the model equation. The least square method was successfully used to identify the model of plant ball and beam without a lever in the form of a second-order equation consisting of 2 poles and 1 zero with a validation value (loss function) of 0.1220 Persamaan model plant ball and beam telah banyak yang meneliti.

Abstract

Kata kunci: Panel surya, Depth of Discharge, ATS, umur baterai, ISTSABSTRACTThe great potential for solar energy in Indonesia encourages people to utilize this energy. Generally, this electrical energy will be stored in the battery, and the greater the percentage of Depth of Discharge (DOD) will shorten the life of the battery. The Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) system makes the selection automatically but works regardless of the condition of the solar panel system, thus shortening the battery life. In this study, an integration between ATS and a solar panel system called the Integrated Transfer Switch (ISTS) was carried out. The ISTS system is designed to read data with a modular system, the connection between modules is done wirelessly by utilizing the IoT system. Source switching using solid- state, protection in the form of Fuse, and a TFT screen to display information has been designed on the ISTS. However, ISTS has limited use because it requires a backup power source. The layout of the components is designed to save space with safety in mind and laying the nylon 6 plastic insulated cables to reduce the risk of an electric spark. Keywords: Solar panel, Depth of Discharge, ATS, battery life, ISTS

Abstract

Lifting petroleum to the surface requires a mechanism called an artificial lift. This mechanism is useful for increasing the flow of fluids from a well. One that uses this method is the rod pump. The rod pump system needed the appropriate design (through the determination of the value of the parameters that affect) so that the pump runs optimally. But changing the appropriate design in real terms is not economically and time-efficient. The ideal rod pump system analysis procedure is to take downhole data (in the well) which is commonly called a pump card. A pump card calculation simulation is needed to efficiently analyze the rod pump system. The wave equation can describe the model of the rod pump system. A simulation of pump data calculation is performed using the finite difference method for the wave equation solution. Through the process of tuning parameter values using trial and error methods, the steps of tuning the parameter value of the rod pump system are proposed in this paper. For further research, a pump card calculation method based on a surface card can be developed to efficiently analyze the rod pump.

Abstract

During the pandemic of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) that hit Indonesia, all activities were very limited. Electrical Engineering Study Program of Universitas Kristen Maranatha was motivated  to share knowledge especially in the field of science about "Basic Unity and Virtual Reality (VR)" to the public. This has been realized through community service activities pursued by students and lecturers. VR refers to computer simulations that create images of the world that appear in human senses, in the same way as humans perceive the real world in reality. This community service used the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. From the results of a survey of community service activities that have been carried out, it is concluded that the success in providing mentoring to improve the ability of the community to use Basic Unity and VR online, is shown by the results of an increase in the score from an average of 5.85 before the activity, to 7.58 (from a total score of 10) after the activity. The community service committee team's service during the activity was also considered very good and worthy of being maintained in subsequent activities. Meanwhile, the implementation of providing teaching materials, the readiness of the trainers, and the implementation of organizing activities online, still need to be re-evaluated and improved in the future for better results.
