Abstract

There are several business sectors that disturb the tranquility of Christian life, types of business: producers of prayer paper, producers of hio or incense to hold ritual worship of gods, the making of statues of gods of worship. If the businessman is a non-Christian then it will certainly not cause problems, but if the businessman is a Christian then bring him into a dilemmatic state. What is the attitude of Christians towards life for this business of prayer equipment. First, it is indicated the problem of how the character of Christian businessmen is viewed from Christian Ethics. Christian business ethics in highlighting all business activities of Christians, including the production of prayer equipment should also be reviewed from the basis of devotion. The basis of devotion from biblical excavation in the context of devotion to mammon or to God is the basis for important considerations for Christians in conducting these business activities. Second, it is indicated that the problem of whether the business engaged in by Christians who produce prayer equipment fulfills the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus. The business of prayer equipment if it is a contextualization of the gospel into the business area that is a means of preaching the gospel, it will be a separate consideration, because in the business the prayer equipment becomes a forum for the implementation of the great Commission. Which resulted in the conclusion of the study answering the study regarding the title of this study.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relevance of female leadership in the contemporary church through a critical reflection on the figure of Esther using a narrative-feminist hermeneutical approach. Contemporary challenges such as gender inequality within church structures, leadership stagnation, and the need for a contextual leadership model drive this research to address the existing research gap studies on Esther have predominantly focused on the aspect of divine providence, not yet on a strategic and transformative female leadership model for the modern church, particularly in the Indonesian context. This research employs a qualitative approach with a literature review method, integrating the analysis of the Book of Esther through the lens of narrative-feminist hermeneutics with contemporary leadership theories (transformational, servant leadership, and feminist leadership theory). The results indicate that Esther's leadership offers a resilient, contextual, and solidarity-based model a leadership paradigm that works within the system while transforming it from within, emphasizing strategic agency, collaboration, and contextual courage. The contribution of this study lies in its hermeneutical enrichment, which opens space for the empowerment of female church leadership through theological legitimacy from the Old Testament narrative. Thus, the contemporary church needs to reflect on Esther's leadership model to face challenges more effectively and inclusively.

Abstract

This study examines the compatibility of this practice with biblical teachings and its implications for the spiritual lives of believers. Christian participation in this system creates moral dilemmas and damages the church's prophetic witness. Using a qualitative, library-based theological-normative approach, the research analyzes biblical texts, theological literature on usury and professional ethics, and empirical studies on Bank Emok. Findings indicate that high-interest lending directed at the poor contradicts Scripture's consistent emphasis on justice, compassion, and protection for the vulnerable (Exod. 22:25; Lev. 25:36–37; Luke 6:34–35). Through Watchman Nee's framework of occupational ethics, Bank Emok is classified as a "pure trader" enterprise that transfers rather than creates wealth rendering it theologically problematic for believers.

Abstract

The spread of heretical teachings in the church today is a serious challenge to the purity of the faith of the church. Believers who lack a strong foundation of faith are easily susceptible to being influenced by teachings that deviate from the truth of God's word. True, structured and continuous discipleship is one of the main solutions to fortify the church from the influence of heretical teachings. This research aims to examine the role of discipleship in maintaining the purity of the faith of the church, as well as how biblical methods of discipleship are able to form disciples of Christ who are firm in doctrine and live according to the truth of the gospel. The research method used is a literature study with a theological qualitative approach, analyzing various literature, the Bible, theological books and research results related to discipleship and heretical teachings. The results of the study show that discipleship that focuses on faith building, healthy doctrinal teaching, supportive community, and the living example of spiritual leaders are very effective in countering heresy and maintaining the purity of the faith of the church. The church therefore needs to strengthen the discipleship system as an integral part of pastoral ministry.

Abstract

The phenomenon of job-hugging has emerged increasingly in the modern workplace as a response to post-pandemic economic uncertainty. To date, however, it has predominantly been examined through economic and psychological frameworks. This study explores job hugging from a theological perspective by analyzing the relationship between faith and anxiety in the context of contemporary working life in Indonesia. This research employs a contextual, systematic, theological approach using a qualitative, reflective method grounded in a review of theological literature, the theology of work, and contemporary pastoral theology. The findings indicate that job-hugging does not merely reflect a survival strategy but also reveals a crisis of modern faith, namely, the displacement of ultimate security from divine providence to employment and worldly stability. Anxiety is understood both as a spiritual symptom of weakened faith and as a reflective space that may lead to a deepening of existential faith. The novelty of this study lies in its interpretation of job hugging as a theological phenomenon that manifests the dialectical dynamic between faith and anxiety, as well as in its formulation of pastoral implications that situate work as vocation within the framework of providentia Dei. This study affirms the contribution of systematic theology in enriching contemporary discourse on the modern world of work and in strengthening the pastoral accompaniment of believers.

Abstract

Post-funeral grief represents the most vulnerable phase of loss, when liturgical and social support begin to fade while emotional and spiritual struggles intensify. However, pastoral practice in Indonesian churches remains largely concentrated on funeral services and memorial rites, with post-burial accompaniment often unstructured and discontinuous. This study aims to analyze the challenges of pastoral accompaniment in the post-funeral phase and to develop a process-oriented framework for pastoral presence among grieving congregants. Using a qualitative literature-based approach, this study examines biblical sources, pastoral theology, grief psychology, and contemporary pastoral research within the Indonesian context. The analysis identifies three major gaps: a theological gap in articulating eschatological hope, a pastoral gap in sustaining long-term accompaniment, and a contextual gap in mobilizing communal support. In response, this study proposes a post-funeral pastoral accompaniment model that integrates liturgy, counseling, and community-based support according to different types of loss. This model affirms that sustained pastoral presence is essential for the restoration of faith and the strengthening of spiritual resilience among those who grieve.AbstrakDuka pasca-pemakaman merupakan fase paling rentan dalam pengalaman kehilangan, ketika dukungan sosial dan liturgis mulai berkurang sementara pergumulan emosional dan spiritual justru meningkat. Namun, praktik gerejawi di Indonesia masih didominasi oleh pelayanan pada saat ibadah penghiburan dan pemakaman, dengan pendampingan setelahnya yang sering tidak terstruktur dan tidak berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis tantangan pendampingan pastoral pada fase pasca-pemakaman serta mengembangkan kerangka penyertaan pastoral yang berorientasi proses bagi jemaat yang berduka. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi literatur atas sumber biblika, teologi pastoral, psikologi kedukaan, serta penelitian pastoral dalam konteks Indonesia. Hasil kajian menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan teologis dalam penekanan pengharapan eskatologis, kesenjangan pastoral dalam keberlanjutan pendampingan, dan kesenjangan kontekstual dalam pemanfaatan dukungan komunitas. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, penelitian ini merumuskan model pendampingan pastoral pasca-pemakaman yang mengintegrasikan liturgi, konseling, dan dukungan komunitas sesuai dengan jenis kehilangan. Model ini menegaskan bahwa penyertaan pastoral yang berkelanjutan merupakan kunci bagi pemulihan iman dan ketahanan spiritual jemaat.

Abstract

The Christian community still lacks adequate knowledge in terms of literacy and in filtering social media, making them easily influenced by hoaxes. The spread of information is also suspected to compromise Christian values and even foster an attitude of indifference toward divinity. This research employs a qualitative method by reviewing literature and scholarly works that discuss the role of Catechetics and the impact of Agnosticism in the Information Era. Agnostics are generally less interested in supernatural matters such as spiritual experiences and worship rituals, but rather prioritize personal needs and ideas that are logically acceptable. The Church faces increasing demands to deliver the message of God’s Word in a contextual and refreshing manner that addresses the needs and struggles of today’s believers. Catechetics, therefore, must play a vital role in providing learning that transforms one’s worldview into a Christ-centered perspective.

Abstract

Pada masa gereja mula-mula, Pelayanan rasul-rasul ditandai dengan manifestasi nyata kuasa Roh Kudus melalui berbagai tanda dan mukjizat. Dalam Kisah Rasul 5:12, misalnya, dicatat bahwa banyak tanda dan mujizat terjadi melalui tangan para rasul di antara jemaat. Bayangan Petrus bahkan menyembuhkan orang sakit (Kis. 5:15), sementara sapu tangan Paulus membawa kesembuhan (Kis. 19:11-12). Namun, gereja masa kini cenderung mengutamakan pendekatan rasional dan struktur organisasi, mengesampingkan manifestasi Roh Kudus. Tantangan modern mengharuskan gereja untuk tetap seimbang dalam mengutamakan firman Tuhan dan kuasa Roh Kudus, seperti diajarkan Yesus dalam Matius 22:29. Metode kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan cara studi kepustakaan dimana informasi dikumpulkan dari berbagai sumber. Kajian ini menyoroti pentingnya peran Roh Kudus sebagai sumber kekuatan yang membekali jemaat dengan iman teguh, ketaatan, dan keberanian dalam pelayanan dan bagaimana agar Pelayanan gereja dapat menghadirkan Kuasa Roh Kudus. Sudah saatnya gereja kembali mengandalkan kuasa Roh Kudus agar relevan dan efektif dalam mengatasi tantangan dunia modern yang rasionalistis, serta untuk mewujudkan pelayanan yang membawa orang kepada Kristus melalui keseimbangan antara pengajaran firman dan kuasa ilahi.
