Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of differentiated digital student worksheets based on socioscientific issues to improve students’ science literacy. The research employed a quasi-experimental design. The population was all students of class VII MTs N 1 Purbalingga in the 2023/2024 academic year. The sample was taken using the cluster random sampling technique and class VII A was selected as the experimental class and class VII D as the control class. The data collection instrument used a science literacy test. The data analysis technique in this research was carried out using quantitative description. The results of the research show that digital student worksheets are proven to be effective in increasing scientific literacy as seen from the average N-gain in the experimental class of 0,582 in the moderate category, higher than the control class of 0,323 in the moderate category. The results of the independent sample t-test are 0,001 < 0,05, which means there is a significant difference in increasing scientific literacy between the experimental and control classes. It can be concluded that SSI-based differentiated digital student worksheets are effective in increasing the scientific literacy of junior high school students.

Abstract

The lack of material in teaching materials related to the environment around students is one of the causes of low environmental literacy. This results in low student knowledge of environmental issues and solutions to these problems. Problem-based learning is an alternative solution for students to practice analyzing problems using a socio-scientific issues approach. The research on the development of E-LKPD Ecology and Biodiversity by integrating the PBL-SSI learning model aims to enhance secondary students' environmental literacy. The type of research conducted is research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model, using a pre-experimental design with a group pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted at SMP N 3 Bawang in class VII using a small-scale test with 9 students and a large-scale test with 120 students. The results of this study were declared valid with high score criteria consisting of a material expert validity value of 0.93 and a media expert validity value of 0.94. This research is also very practical with a value of 98.48%, and very effective, with a value of 84.4%. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be seen that the E-LKPD Ecology and Biodiversity can improve students' environmental literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the understanding of the concept of additives and addictive substances in class IX D students of SMPN 11 Semarang through the application of Culturally Responsive Teaching in the Discovery Learning learning model. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, where each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 32 class IX D students, consisting of 16 males and 16 females. Data collection techniques were carried out through learning outcome tests, observations and student response questionnaires. The results showed that the application of Culturally Responsive Teaching in Discovery Learning was able to improve students' understanding of the concept of additives and addictive substances. The average student score increased from 44.06 in the pre-cycle with 12.50% completion, to 64.53 with 46.88% completion in cycle I, to 80.16 with 93.75% completion in cycle II. In addition to improving learning outcomes, there was also an increase in student participation in discussions and exploration of concepts in learning. Thus, the application of Culturally Responsive Teaching in Discovery Learning has proven effective in improving the understanding of the concept of additive and addictive substances.

Abstract

21st-century learning requires all teachers to implement learning that integrates information and communication technology (ICT). The use of ICT in learning can be realized well if teachers can integrate technology, knowledge, and pedagogical expertise in teaching or what is known as Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). One way to apply TPACK in learning is to develop Augmented Reality-based learning media. Teachers at MTs PPMI Assalaam have not mastered and applied technology in learning, especially Augmented Reality-based learning media. Based on this situation, the service team felt it was essential to increase TPACK knowledge and prepare Augmented Reality-based learning media through training. The results of the pretest and posttest after training showed an increase, and the participants' response to the service activities through a satisfaction questionnaire was said to be very good.

Abstract

This study aimed to compare prospective pre-service teachers’ understanding of TPACK and ESD in Indonesia and Malaysia. The research method used is comparative research, which compares the understanding of TPACK and ESD of science pre-service teachers between Indonesia and Malaysia. The research sample consisted of 164 students from Indonesia and 172 from Malaysia, aged 23-25 years. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. A test method was used to measure TPACK understanding, and a questionnaire method was used to measure ESD understanding. The data analysis method used descriptive analysis of TPACK and ESD understanding profiles and comparative tests with Mann-Whitney. The results showed that Indonesian and Malaysian pre-service teacher TPACK and ESD understanding profiles were not much different. Pre-service teachers in Indonesia have a slight advantage in overall TPACK understanding. Meanwhile, pre-service teachers in Malaysia scored slightly higher in ESD comprehension compared to Indonesia. There is a need for continuous development and professional support to strengthen pre-service teachers’ understanding of TPACK and ESD in an increasingly digitalized education context, which will ultimately support sustainable development goals more effectively.
