Abstract

Cancer is one of the diseases that causes death in children in the world. The incidence of cancer globally every year is as many as 300 thousand children. Cancer that occurs in children causes major reactions in parents that are often associated with trauma and shock. Parents suffer from psychosocial problems, financial tensions, social isolation and conflicts of work and family roles and reduced time for other children and recreational activities. The main key in overcoming the problem of children with cancer is resilience. Research on the resilience of parents who have children with cancer is still limited. The absence of a literature study in the form of a scoping review of the resilience of parents who have children with cancer has made researchers interested in conducting literature studies. A systematic review is needed to disseminate the relevant literature on the resilience of parents who have children with cancer.

Abstract

A common problem among ex-drug users is relapse. Addiction in former drug users can be caused by self efficacy factors. This study aims to get a clear picture of the factors that influence the self-efficacy of former drug addicts to stop using drugs. Methods: Researchers used the scoping review method. The literature search was conducted using the search keywords "self efficacy" AND "relapse" OR "abstinence" AND "drugs". The databases used were Sciencedirect, Scopus, and Pubmed. The inclusion criteria were articles reviewed from publications in the last 5 years (2019-2023), articles that were in English, quantitative and/or qualitative research with a study population of former drug addicts who experienced relapse, and the full article was accessible. Stepwise screening was conducted and documented according to the PRISMA flowchart. Results: based on identification, there are 212 articles from search engines from sciencedirect, scopus, and pubmed. The final results obtained are 6 articles that match the criteria after going through the selection process. Self efficacy has many factors that can affect it such as negative emotions, apathy, shame and guilt, psychological, and delay factors predicting recurrence, as well as age. The researcher used the PEO (population, exposure, outcome) question format to find related research articles. Based on the analysis of 6 literatures, it can be concluded that former drug addicts have more serious challenges to stop using drugs.

Abstract

The Bajo Tribe, known for its unique cultural heritage and lifestyle, presents an interesting case for examining the interplay between socioeconomic status and parenting practices among adolescent fathers. This demographic is increasingly relevant as adolescent fatherhood has implications for both child health outcomes and family dynamics. This review aims to synthesise existing literature on how socioeconomic factors influence adolescent fathers' parenting styles within the Bajo Tribe and the subsequent health outcomes for their children. Method: A systematic search was conducted using the PRISMA-SCR guidelines. Databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar were queried for peer-reviewed articles published within the last ten years that focus on socioeconomic status, adolescent fatherhood, and child health, particularly in indigenous communities. Inclusion criteria focused on qualitative and quantitative studies highlighting the Bajo Tribe. Preliminary findings suggest a significant correlation between lower socioeconomic status and adverse parenting practices among adolescent fathers, which in turn negatively affects child health outcomes. Key themes identified include limited access to resources, education levels, and community support systems that directly impact parenting efficacy. The findings highlight the urgent need for targeted interventions that address socioeconomic disparities to improve parenting practices among adolescent fathers in the Bajo Tribe, ultimately enhancing child health outcomes.

Abstract

The negative effects of stigma can cause anxiety in WBP, fear, low self-efficacy to re-adapt and even increase the number of recidivists due to the pressure of stigma experienced. Previous research examined the self-adjustment of former WBPs facing stigma after release, however, research on the self-efficacy of female WBPs in facing public stigma is still very limited, therefore researchers are interested in conducting research related to the self-efficacy of female prisoners in facing stigma in society. Objective: To describe the self-efficacy of female prisoners in facing stigma in the community after being released from prison. Methods: This study is a descriptive qualitative study to describe the self-efficacy of female prisoners in facing community stigma. Three participants were selected using purposive sampling and met the criteria of female prisoners who were willing to be participants and female prisoners who would be released in less than one year. The research was conducted at the Women's Correctional Center Class II A Semarang. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews and completed with field notes, according to the place agreed upon by the research and participants. Interviews were recorded then made verbatim transcripts and analyzed using the qualitative descriptive analysis method according to Miles and Huberman. Results: Two main themes were identified: the first theme was not caring and persevering in adversity, the second theme was working and realizing great expectations. Conclusion: The results showed that female prisoners who will be released show an attitude of not caring about the stigma they may face after returning to society, because they have confidence in their ability to overcome existing challenges. High self-efficacy plays an important role in helping female prisoners stay focused on their goals, such as finding a job or starting a new business, without being affected by negative views or stereotypes from society.

Abstract

Loneliness is increasingly recognised as a significant factor affecting adolescent health behaviours. Recent studies have indicated a potential link between feelings of loneliness and the rise in electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) usage among teenagers. This scoping review aims to systematically explore and synthesize the literature regarding the influence of loneliness on e-cigarette use among adolescents, identifying gaps and areas for further research. A comprehensive literature search was conducted following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were utilised to locate peer-reviewed articles published in the last 10 years. Inclusion criteria focused on studies discussing loneliness and e-cigarette use among adolescents. Data extraction involved thematic analysis to identify recurring themes and outcomes. Preliminary findings indicate a positive correlation between feelings of loneliness and increased e-cigarette consumption in adolescents. The review highlights various psychosocial factors, including peer influence and mental health, contributing to this trend. The findings underscore the importance of addressing loneliness as a critical determinant in the promotion of e-cigarette use among youth. Future interventions should consider targeting social connectedness to mitigate the impact of loneliness on health behaviours.

Abstract

Children in school frequently look to others for approval and take pride in their achievements. The Objective: The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of bullying on mental and physical health and to understand ways to prevent bullying. Methods: Using a systematic review methodology, the study drew information from secondary sources found by using keyword searches in databases like Garuda, Science Direct, Sinta, and PubMed, search for journal articles for 2018-2023, and 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were reviewed. The journals' classification, language, and year of publication were taken into consideration when selecting the papers. The study topic was formulated using the Pico framework, and search strategies were developed by incorporating Boolean operators (or, and, not) to achieve a more complete search. The search, selection, and analysis of pertinent literature were conducted rigorously in the review by adhering to the prisma. Results: Ten publications in all fulfilled the requirements for inclusion in the systematic review. Psychological problems such despair, anxiety, low self-esteem, social disengagement, feelings of isolation, difficulty focusing, scholastic decline, emotional instability, behavioral changes, and suicidal thoughts were among the many themes discussed in the papers. Furthermore, five research emphasized the detrimental effects of bullying on one's physical health, including headaches, insomnia, digestive troubles, respiratory problems, anorexia, back pain, and chest pain. Conclusion: Bullying has a major negative impact on a child's physical and mental health when they are in school. The risk factors that have been found offer significant insights into the dynamics of bullying behavior, which has implications for methods related to prevention and intervention.

Abstract

Adolescents exhibit varying sleep-wake behaviors influenced by a range of biological, social, and psychological characteristics. Many adolescents today tend to follow an evening chronotype, which has implications for their health and developmental processes. To date, there has been no specific review synthesizing evidence from studies on the health and behavioral risks associated with chronotype in adolescents. This study aims to identify recent evidence on the health and behavioral impacts of chronotype in adolescents. A scoping review approach was used. Literature sources were obtained through database searches including PUBMED, ScienceDirect, and Scopus. The inclusion criteria for article selection were: (1) articles published within the last 5 years; (2) written in English; (3) article topics related to the impact of chronotype on adolescents; and (4) full-text availability, original articles, and accessible sources. This study employed the framework developed by Arksey and O’Malley, consisting of the following steps: 1. Identifying the research question; 2. Identifying relevant studies; 3. Selecting research articles; 4. Charting the data; and 5. Collating, summarizing, and reporting the results. Based on the selected articles, the researchers classified the impacts of chronotype on adolescent health into three main aspects: physical, psychological, and health-related and social behaviors. Chronotype affects all dimensions of adolescent developmental processes.
