Abstract

The understanding of the concept of the Oneness of God among Hindu devotees is often reduced to symbolic and traditional ritual practices, resulting in a gap between Vedic theological teachings and everyday religious practice. This condition underscores the importance of studies that position Tri Murti Puja not merely as a ritual expression, but as a form of theological communication that represents the doctrine of the One Supreme God in Hinduism. This study aims to examine the concept of the Oneness of God based on Hindu sacred texts and its implementation in Tri Murti Puja practices through the perspective of Hindu communication. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-interpretative design. Data were collected through textual analysis of the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, and the Tri Sandhya mantra, as well as field research involving ritual observation, documentation of temple shrines (pelinggih), and interviews with temple priests and Hindu devotees at Pura Samuantiga. Data analysis was conducted inductively through processes of data reduction, categorization, and interpretation of the theological and communicative meanings of ritual practices. The findings indicate that the concept of the Oneness of God in Hinduism is consistently affirmed in Vedic teachings through the principle of Ekam Eva Advitiyam, which is symbolically implemented in Tri Murti Puja. The Tri Murti does not represent polytheism, but rather a differentiation of divine functions within a single transcendent reality. Ritual practices such as Ngambeng, Nampyog, and Siat Sampian function as media of religious communication that transmit theological, ethical, and social values to the community. Rituals serve as a system of signs that bridge abstract understandings of divine unity with concrete religious experience. This study confirms that Tri Murti Puja constitutes an effective form of Hindu communication in internalizing the doctrine of the Oneness of God. The integration of theological, symbolic, and communicative dimensions within ritual practices strengthens śraddhā and bhakti among devotees while ensuring the continuity of Hindu teachings within the local cultural context. The originality of this study lies in its use of a Hindu communication perspective to explain Tri Murti Puja as a theological medium for expressing the concept of the Oneness of God, a perspective that has been insufficiently explored in previous studies.

Abstract

Digital transformation has blurred the boundaries between the sacred and the profane, positioning social media not merely as a means of communication but also as a new arena for religious expression. In the context of Balinese Hinduism, the translocation of sacred spaces onto digital timelines raises questions about how sacredness is produced, perceived, and renegotiated within the digital ecology. This study aims to examine the phenomenon of uploaded sacredness by emphasizing the dynamics of visual representation, authority, and online community validation. This research employs a qualitative approach through digital ethnography and visual anthropology. Data were collected through online observation, documentation of 120 posts on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube (2022–2024), as well as semi-structured interviews with 20 key informants, including priests, content creators, and Hindu practitioners. Data analysis was conducted inductively through visual coding, digital discourse analysis, and ethnographic interpretation. The study reveals four main findings. First, sacred spaces are aesthetically represented through photos, videos, and poetic captions that extend religious experiences into the virtual sphere. Second, the emergence of hybrid rituals marks the convergence of offline ritual practices and online content production. Third, religious authority shifts into the digital realm, producing dynamics of post-traditional religiosity in which young priests and content creators become authoritative figures. Fourth, community validation through likes, comments, and reshares constitutes the legitimacy of digital sacredness, although often accompanied by tensions between sanctity and commodification. The study demonstrates that sacredness does not disappear in its translocation to social media but is re-mediated through visual aesthetics, community participation, and platform logics. This research contributes to the study of religion, visual culture, and digital anthropology by asserting that uploaded sacredness is a hybrid religious phenomenon that is both global and local, while also enriching theoretical frameworks on religious mediation in the era of digital disruption.

Abstract

This study addresses the growing importance of body representation within Balinese cultural tourism, where sacred Hindu aesthetics intersect with global tourism economies. While existing literature often emphasizes either symbolic meanings of the body in religious contexts or its commodification in tourism industries, a critical gap remains in understanding how these dimensions coexist and are negotiated in practice. This research aims to examine how the Balinese female body is constructed, represented, and commodified within cultural tourism spaces that simultaneously embody spirituality and commercial exchange. Employing a qualitative approach grounded in critical ethnography, the study was conducted over six months in Ubud, Seminyak, and Sanur (Denpasar). Data were collected through participant observation, 27 in-depth semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders, and document and media analysis. Field notes, interview transcripts, and visual-cultural materials were analyzed using thematic and symbolic interpretation supported by qualitative data software. The findings reveal that the female body in Balinese tourism operates as a hybrid cultural entity, functioning simultaneously as a sacred symbol in ritual contexts and as a commodified object within tourism and sexual economies. In ritual spaces, the body embodies spiritual values, purity, and cosmological harmony, while in tourism performances and spa industries, it is reframed as aesthetic and sensual capital. The study further identifies how sex workers actively negotiate identity and agency by appropriating cultural symbols, spiritual narratives, and traditional aesthetics to meet tourist expectations while maintaining personal boundaries. This duality produces a moral ambiguity within local communities, where the coexistence of sacred and profane practices is often tolerated through flexible cultural frameworks and economic considerations. The spatial and symbolic proximity between temples, spas, and nightlife venues further illustrates the blurred boundaries between spirituality and commodification. The study demonstrates that body representation in Balinese cultural tourism is not merely a process of sexualization but a complex reconfiguration of symbolic, economic, and cultural meanings. The body emerges as a contested site where religious values, global capitalism, and local agency intersect. This research contributes to anthropological discourse by proposing an integrated framework that bridges symbolic anthropology and tourism commodification, highlighting the need for culturally sensitive and ethically grounded approaches in managing tourism development in Bali.

Abstract

Research regarding topic modeling on the coverage of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in national mass media remains limited. This study aims to not only model IKN-related topics but also rigorously evaluate the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) model to ensure its robustness for future implementation. The dataset comprises 1,498 news articles gathered from prominent Indonesian online media, specifically Detik (1,050 articles) and Kompas (448 articles). The methodology involves experimental variations of LDA parameters, including document volume, maximum features, and topic count, utilizing the Scikit-learn library. The results indicate that an increase in data volume and feature dimensions significantly correlates with longer computation times and a higher number of epochs required for convergence. Furthermore, the expansion of variables and data volume resulted in more negative log-likelihood values and increased perplexity, suggesting that model complexity challenges predictive precision. A convergence threshold of $1e^{-2}$ was applied to optimize the training cessation point. While this study establishes a baseline for static topic modeling, future research implies the necessity of Dynamic Topic Modeling (DTM) to capture the temporal evolution of topics, a dimension not addressed by the standard LDA model.
