Abstract

Abstract

In this study, the authors analyze the fatigue life of the anchor chain used to secure the Gamkonora FSO to the seabed. The objective is to determine the operational lifespan of the anchor chain by considering its fatigue life. The research begins with an analysis of the movement of the Gamkonora FSO under environmental loads in both free-floating and moored conditions to determine the tension in each anchor chain. Next, the anchor chain tension is calculated for various corrosion levels, namely 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%. Subsequently, the tension range and damage ratio values are determined using the T-N curve method based on Palmgren Miner’s failure law, with failure estimation carried out using the rainflow counting method. The numerical modeling results reveal that the largest translational motion behavior of the FSO occurs during heave motion, reaching 1.409 m/m, while the largest rotational motion is observed during roll motion, with a value of 3.463 deg/m when the FSO is fully loaded. The maximum tension recorded in the anchor chain is 1,695.14 kN at heading 90 under 0% corrosion conditions, with a safety factor of 4.53. Furthermore, the cumulative damage value from the T-N curve is obtained, with the largest value recorded as 0.0702. Based on the cumulative damage, the fatigue life of the anchor chain is estimated to be 14.25 years during its operational lifespan.

Abstract

River cruise tourism in Indonesia has a moderately high potential as there are so many rivers in Indonesia that offer beautiful natural and urban views. However, majority of river cruiser boats still use outboard engines, both two-stroke and four-stroke combustion engines. The working system of the outboard engine is to carry out the combustion process of the fuel oil. This combustion process usually has a loud sound, leading to noise pollutants that can harm the environment and make passengers uncomfortable. Burning fossil fuels also causes the residual compounds that increases environmental pollution, especially carbon emissions. In this paper, an analysis will be carried out on the operational costs of a river cruise ship with electric paddle wheel propulsion. With a boat design with an LOA size of 5.4 m, breadth of 1.4 m, height of 0.8 m, draft of 0.3 m, and CB of 0.68, the paddle wheel diameter is 70 cm, blade width of 30cm, and 6 blades. The motor used to drive the paddle wheel has a power of 672.69 watts, with a battery capacity of 100 Ah. According to operational planning, benefits will be obtained, including zero carbon emissions, no noise and operational benefits can be up to 90% greater when compared to the out-board engine drive.

Abstract

Floating Storage and Offloading is a floating structure that functions as hydrocarbon temporary storage from wells before being distributed to tankers and carried to production facilities on shore. The important components used to support FSO operations are mooring systems and risers. The mooring system is used to limit FSO movement due to environmental loads. Riser was carried out hydrocarbons from the well to FSO This study aims to analyze the effect of mooring system configurations on flexible riser tension. These variations consist of spread mooring, conventional buoy mooring (4 buoy), and two other variations combine spread mooring and conventional buoy mooring. This analysis shows that the mooring system with 4 buoys has the largest flexible riser tension that is 248 kN, while spread mooring has the smallest flexible riser tension, 55 kN. FSO with conventional buoy mooring configuration has the largest offset and spread mooring configuration has the smallest offset. The lazy wave type has smaller riser tension than the free hanging type, which is 4 – 58%.

Abstract

A lot of research has been carried out regarding variations in mooring systems, one of which is the addition of buoys to the mooring system. In analyzing variations in mooring system designs, what needs to be considered is the reliability of the mooring lines. Therefore, in this research will analyze reliability on the effect of subsea buoy to the tension of mooring line with a variation position of subsea buoy. The variations on the position of one subsea buoy is arranged at the distance of the anchor 605 m, 577.5 m, 550 m, 522.5 and two subsea buoys at the distance from the anchor 605 m and 467.5 m. The analysis was performed for stand alone and offloading conditions with wave directions of 0 °, 45 °, 90 °, 135 °, 180 °. In this study to find the reliability of mooring lines, the author uses the Mean Value First Order Second Moment (MVFOSM) method. The results from this study, the probability of failure in the offloading condition without subsea buoy is 4.897E-17 and with subsea buoy (522.5 m) is 4.018E-17. Probability of failure in the stand alone condition without subsea buoy is 2.763E-16 and with subsea buoy (522.5 m) is 1.881E-16. From the probability of failure, the reliability of mooring lines in the offloading condition and stand alone condition without subsea buoy and with subsea buoy (522.5 m) is 1.00. The reliability calculation determined by DNV-OS E301, the results obtained meet the specified reliability criteria.
