Abstract

Sickle kick is a Pencak silat martial arts technique that athletes must master to gain match points. It is just that the reality on the ground shows that the crescent kick technique shown by athletes could be more optimal. The flexibility of the waist and the reaction speed is one factor that determines the success of an athlete's kick. This study aimed to determine the effect of waist flexibility and the speed of reaction to sickle kicks by Perisai Diri pencak silat athletes. This research belongs to quantitative research using a correlation design with causal associative methods. The population in this study was 35 people. The sample was taken using the probability sampling technique, with the final sample size being 35 people. Data was collected using measurements of the three variables. The flexibility of the waist was tested with a flexiometer. The reaction speed was a whole-body reaction. In contrast, a sickle kick ability test measured the crescent kick ability. Data were analyzed with two predictors and multiple regression. Based on the data analysis results, waist flexibility has a significantly positive effect on the accuracy of sickle kicks, and reaction speed has a significantly positive effect on the accuracy of sickle kicks. Based on these results, it can be concluded that waist flexibility and reaction rate significantly positively affect the accuracy of sickle kicks of Pencak Silat Perisai Diri athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of E-modules in physical education sports and health subjects in improving the learning outcomes of junior high school students. This research is a type of Research and Development (R&D) research with the ADDIE model. The population in this study came from students of SMP Negeri 34 Kerinci. The research sample came from 2 classes, namely class VII B as an experimental class) and class VII C as a control class. The data collection technique is random sampling. The instruments used are tests and questionnaires. The data analysis technique is descriptive statistical analysis with the help of the SPSS version 21 application. The results showed a T-Test value of 0.00 <0.5. These findings explain that the development of e-modules is very effective in increasing student knowledge in physical education, sports , and health learning subjects. Furthermore, the development of this E-module helps students be more creative and innovative in learning

Abstract

This study examined the effects of paired and independent overhead passing training methods in relation to leg muscle strength on the overhead passing ability of school-level volleyball athletes. A quantitative experimental design with a 2×2 factorial pretest–posttest approach was employed. Twenty-four students participating in a volleyball extracurricular program were classified into high and low leg muscle strength groups and assigned to paired or independent training. Overhead passing ability was measured before and after the intervention using a standardized skill test. Data were analyzed using paired samples t-tests to identify within-group changes. The results showed a significant improvement only in athletes with high leg muscle strength who received paired training (p < 0.05), while other groups showed no significant changes. These findings suggest that overhead passing improvement depends on the interaction between training method and physical readiness. Further studies with larger samples and factorial analyses are recommended.

Abstract

This study investigates the direct and indirect effects of arm muscle strength, wrist flexibility, and problem-solving ability on shooting accuracy among female Petanque athletes in West Sumatra. Forty athletes were purposively sampled based on active participation in training and competition. Arm muscle strength was measured using a medicine ball throw, wrist flexibility with a goniometer, problem-solving ability via a Likert-scale questionnaire, and shooting accuracy using the standardized FIPJP test. Path analysis revealed that wrist flexibility (β = 0.324, p = 0.046) and problem-solving ability (β = 0.329, p = 0.026) significantly contribute to shooting accuracy, while arm muscle strength showed a positive but non-significant effect (β = 0.269, p = 0.071). Wrist flexibility also significantly influenced problem-solving ability (β = 0.519, p = 0.003), indicating an indirect pathway. These findings suggest that precision-based performance in Petanque relies more on fine motor control and cognitive decision-making than brute strength, and that training programs should emphasize wrist mobility and cognitive drills. Future research should expand participant diversity, include additional physical and psychological factors, and adopt longitudinal or experimental designs to clarify causal relationships.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a Pencak Silat catching technique model based on the 2022 competition rules. The research used a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The study was conducted at UPTD KBOR Dispora Sumatera Barat, involving seven expert validators and fifteen athletes as respondents. Data were collected using validation sheets and response questionnaires, then analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results showed that the developed model achieved a validation score of 95.57%, categorized as very feasible. Athlete responses also indicated a very high level of acceptance, with an average score of 97.78%. These findings demonstrate that the model is valid and practical as a learning medium to support athletes in understanding and applying catching techniques based on updated competition rules. Therefore, the developed model can be effectively used in Pencak Silat training.
