Abstract

The prevalence of disease spread caused by improper cultivation systems causes a decrease in the productivity level of vannamei shrimp ponds. A low salinity cultivation system is one of the cultivation innovations that can be developed to reduce the spread of disease. The purpose of this study was to describe water quality status on aquatic shrimp culture and business financial feasibility in the intensive vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) culture with low salinity levels. The research method used was quantitative descriptive with a purposive sampling technique of data collection. The result of the research is the Water Quality Index analysis value of 110 which means it is very suitable to be used as a cultivation medium. Profitability analysis produces a profit value of Rp. 244,456,603, R/C Ratio 1.35, BEP Unit 3,797, BEP Sales Rp. 188,745,587, and Profitability 35%. Meanwhile, the financial analysis of the business found that the NPV value was Rp. 19,627,985,863, the Profitability Index was 25.43%, the IRR was 27.55%, and the Payback Period was 5 years, which meant that this business was very feasible to be developed based on its financial feasibility status criteria. So that the overall, low salinity shrimp culture is very feasible to be applied when viewed from the ecological or economic advantage, and can be used as an alternative for vannamei shrimp aquaculture in areas that have the location of a pond far from the source of marine water.

Abstract

The quality of the river changes according to the development of the surrounding environment which is influenced by various human activities. Analysis of factors affecting Dissolved Oxygen (DO) at Bengawan Solo River is crucial for river management purpose and pollution control. Previous research suggested the use classic multiple linear regression. However, DO measurement were usually took place of sampling sites along the river channel. Therefore, there is a high chance that the measurements results may spatially correlated. As the consequence, the utilization of multiple linear regression technique for the dataset can be inappropriate. In this paper, we applied a modification of multiple linear regression model to incorporate with spatial autocorrelation that exist in the data by adding control variable such vector eigen to the model which known as Spatial Filtering with Eigenvector (SFE). The results showed that nitrate and nitrite were the predictor variables that have a negative and significant effect. However, the model contains spatial autocorrelation. The application of SFE technique by adding three eigenvectors as control variables in the model succeeded in making the residual model free from spatial autocorrelation. However, a new problem arose where there was a violation of the non-heteroscedasticity assumption.

Abstract

Abstract

In intensive shrimp culture, oxygen consumption of shrimp is an important indicator that greatly affects the physiological condition of shrimp as a reared organism. The purpose of this study was to dynamically determine the oxygen consumption of shrimp in intensive culture as well as the variables of water quality and shrimp growth. This research was conducted with the concept of ex-post facto causal design in intensive aquaculture ponds during the shrimp cultivation period. During the shrimp culture period, the rate of oxygen consumption of shrimp is inversely related with the  sigmodial average increase in shrimp body weight. Meanwhile, based on the simulation analysis with the dynamic modeling concept, it is shown that oxygen consumption was linear to the dynamics of  average daily gain and inversely proportional with the increasing rate of shrimp biomass in the ponds. In addition, oxygen consumption rate of shrimp in intensive ponds had a close relationship with water salinity and total organic matter. In conclusion, dynamically, the fluctuation of oxygen consumption rate and average daily gain of shrimp in intensive culture are closely related to the stability of the water quality conditions on the shrimp habitat.

Abstract

This research was conducted in May 2018 in the coastal area of Banyuputih Subdistrict, Situbondo Regency with the aim of estimating the land area and production capacity of shrimp ponds that can be supported by Banyuputih coastal waters based on the rate of biodegradation of organic waste in the form of Total Suspended Solid (TSS). The results showed that the area of intensive ponds (stocking density of 126 birds / m2) that could be supported by waters was 39.30 hectares with shrimp production capacity of 739.72 tons / planting season, whereas for semi-intensive ponds (stocking density of 25 birds / m2) was 313.98 hectares with a maximum shrimp production capacity of 803.85 tons / planting season, and for traditional plus ponds (stocking density of 8 birds / m2) is 743.14 hectares with a maximum capacity of shrimp production of 578.90 tons / planting season. The simulation results of the three shrimp cultivation technologies (traditional plus, semi-intensive and intensive), obtained a combination of shrimp farm area that is still within the limits of environmental carrying capacity, namely: 5% (37.16 hectares) for traditional plus-tech shrimp farm land (8 tail / m2), 50% (157 hectares) for semi-intensive technology shrimp farms (25 individuals / m2), and 45% (17.69 hectares) for intensive technology shrimp farms (126 individuals / m2). The total land area of the third combination of technology is 211 hectares with shrimp production of 763.75 tons/planting season. The results of this study can be used as a reference for the development of shrimp ponds in a sustainable manner in the study area.
