Abstract

Seorang anak akan mengalami masa pertumbuhan dan perkembangan otak secara optimal pada usia 0 sampai dengan 24 bulan awal kehidupannya, sehingga hal tersebut merupakan salah satu aspek prioritas untuk diperhatikan oleh orang tua, untuk itu perlunya nutrisi yang optimal pada masa tersebut, sehingga pentingnya orang tua mengetahui tentang pemberian dan pemilihan bahan makanan pada Makanan Pendamping ASI untuk buah hati mereka, karena salah satu faktor penyebab gizi buruk pada balita adalah kurangnya pengetahuan pada keluarga tentang gizi dan cara penanggulangannya sehingga balita kurang mendapatkan makanan bergizi seimbang yang cukup. Desa Sidojagung terdapat keterbatasan akan pengetahuan terhadap pemberian dan pemilihan bahan makanan pada Makanan Pendamping ASI untuk buah hati mereka. Tujuan dari Pengabdian Masyarakat ini dapat membantu ibu balita dan ibu kader di Desa Sidojangkung untutk mengetahui tentang pemberian dan pemilihan bahan makanan untuk Makanan Pendamping ASI. Pengabdian masyarakat ini menunjukan bahwa kegiatan ini berjalan dengan lancer dan 25 ibu 100% menerima pendidikan dengan baik

Abstract

Fine motor development in early childhood remains a significant issue in education, as many children experience delays in controlling finger and hand movements. This condition makes it difficult for children to write, draw, or perform activities that require eye-hand coordination. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Brain Gym in improving fine motor skills in 6-year-old kindergarten children. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 20 students drawn using total sampling. The research instruments consisted of a questionnaire and a checklist completed before and after the counseling session. The results showed that Brain Gym effectively improved fine motor skills by 35.3%. The paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating a statistically significant difference between fine motor scores before and after the Brain Gym intervention in the sample of 6-year-old kindergarten children. This study concluded that Brain Gym was effective in improving fine motor skills in 6-year-old kindergarten children, with an increase of 35.3%. Therefore, it can be concluded that Brain Gym has a significant impact on improving children's fine motor skills

Abstract

Background: Undernutrition among toddlers remains a major public health problem in Indonesia because it affects child growth, development, and future human resource quality. Several factors related to undernutrition include maternal knowledge, maternal education, family support, and complementary feeding practices. Objective: To analyze factors associated with undernutrition among toddlers at Puskesmas Nelayan Gresik. Method: This study used an analytic observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 70 mothers who had toddlers aged 6–23 months. A total of 55 respondents were selected using simple random sampling. Independent variables included maternal knowledge, maternal education, family support, and complementary feeding practices, while the dependent variable was toddler nutritional status. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and analyzed using ordinal regression with a significance level of 0.05. Results: Most respondents had poor knowledge (58.2%), secondary education level (78.2%), less supportive family support (45.5%), and adequate complementary feeding practices (58.2%). Statistical analysis showed that maternal knowledge (p = 0.000), family support (p = 0.010), and complementary feeding practices (p = 0.008) were significantly associated with undernutrition among toddlers. Maternal education was not significantly associated with undernutrition (p = 0.933). Conclusion: Maternal knowledge, family support, and complementary feeding practices were significantly associated with undernutrition among toddlers. Strengthening nutrition education and family involvement is recommended to prevent undernutrition.
