Abstract

Broadcast radio faces challenges in maintaining its existence, particularly in the internet era. Audiences now have more media access choices, leading to decreased loyalty to a single medium. This research explores the strategy of expanding the reach of broadcast radio through cross-media initiatives in the new internet-based medium. It also examines the process of soundwork remediation within the internet medium, focusing on Suara Surabaya FM 100 and PRFM radio. The new context of remediation enables the establishment of social connections between the audience and radio, as well as connectivity among the audience mediated by radio across different outlets.

Abstract

AbstrakPerilaku sharenting yang mengarah pada objektivikasi anak sering ditemui di media sosial Instagram. Perilaku ini sering dilakukan oleh selebriti Instagram, yaitu selebgram. Selebgram sebagai orang tua yang memiliki anak mengunggah foto, video, dan keterangan teks tentang keseharian anak mereka. Informasi yang dibagikan juga tidak jarang terkait dengan informasi privasi anak mereka. Salah satu selebgram yang melakukan perilaku sharenting di Instagram adalah Risa Saraswati. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis wacana kritis Van Dijk guna untuk membongkar wacana teks yang diproduksi dengan berdasarkan kognisi sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui objektivikasi anak pada perilaku sharenting di Instagram Risa Saraswati. Penelitian ini menemukan empat macam objektivikasi anak yang dilakukan pada perilaku sharenting di Instagram pada analisis teks, yaitu objektivikasi anak pada tumbuh kembang anak, objektivikasi anak sebagai endorsement, objektivikasi anak pada tingkah lucu anak, dan objektivikasi anak menjadi selebgram. Pada analisis kognisi, Risa Saraswati tidak sadar secara penuh tentang dampak yang didapat dari mengunggah konten anak secara visualisasi maupun keterangan teks dimedia sosial. Risa Saraswati berpikir bahwa membagikan foto dan video anak di Instagram merupakan cara yang baik untuk berkomunikasi dengan keluarga dan kerabat dekat lainnya. Pada analisis konteks sosial, penelitian ini menemukan banyak masyarakat, khususnya pengguna Instagram yang mendukung perilaku sharenting yang mengarah pada objektivikasi sharenting dengan komentar yang dominan positif terhadap unggahan Risa Saraswati tentang anaknya di Instagram. Hak privasi anak dikesampingkan oleh orang tua mereka. Hak anak dianggap menjadi bias karena usia anak yang belum dapat menentukan pilihannya. AbstractSharenting behavior that leads to objectification of children is often found on Instagram social media. This behavior is often carried out by Instagram celebrities, namely celebrities. Celebgrams as parents who have children upload photos, videos, and text descriptions about their children's daily lives. The information shared is also often related to the privacy information of their children. One of the celebrities who does sharenting behavior on Instagram is Risa Saraswati. This research uses Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis method in order to dismantle the discourse of texts produced based on social cognition. This study aims to determine the objectification of children in sharing behavior on Risa Saraswati's Instagram. This study found four kinds of objectification of children carried out on sharenting behavior on Instagram in text analysis, namely objectification of children to child development, objectification of children as endorsements, objectification of children to funny behavior of children, and objectification of children to celebrities. In the cognitive analysis, Risa Saraswati is not fully aware of the impact that can be obtained from uploading children's content through visualization and textual information on social media. Risa Saraswati thinks that sharing photos and videos of children on Instagram is a good way to communicate with family and other close relatives. In analyzing the social context, this study found that many people, especially Instagram users, support sharenting behavior which leads to the objectification of sharenting with predominantly positive comments on Risa Saraswati's uploads about her child on Instagram. Children's right to privacy is overridden by their parents. Children's rights are considered to be biased because the child's age has not been able to determine his choice.

Abstract

Abstrak. Komparasi Motivasi Mahasiswa Jurnalistik Sebelum dan Sesudah Praktik Kerja Jurnalistik (PKJ) untuk Menekuni Bidang Kejurnalistikan (Studi pada Mahasiswa Jurnalistik Unpad yang Melaksanakan PKJ pada Periode Semester Genap 2024). Pembimbing Utama Dr. Pandan Yudhapramesti, S.Sos., MT. dan Pembimbing Pendamping Dr. Gema Nusantara Bakry, M.I.Kom. Program Studi Jurnalistik, Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi, Universitas Padjadjaran. Tujuan pendidikan jurnalisme adalah sosialisasi terhadap profesi kejurnalistikan. Profesi tersebut berorientasi pada praktik sehingga perguruan tinggi harus mengintegrasikan teori dan praktik sebagai jembatan antara dunia akademis dan profesional. Salah satu cara untuk mencapainya adalah melalui program magang. Meski secara umum magang mengarahkan mahasiswa pada karier yang relevan dengan bidang studi, realitanya magang juga memungkinkan mereka menyelidiki jalur karier lain yang dapat menurunkan motivasi untuk bekerja sesuai bidang studi. Beberapa penelitian menunjukkan penurunan motivasi mahasiswa jurnalistik setelah magang, padahal motivasi merupakan unsur penting dalam minat berkarier. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan motivasi Mahasiswa Jurnalistik Unpad sebelum dan sesudah program magang mereka, yakni Praktik Kerja Jurnalistik (PKJ) untuk berkarier di bidang jurnalisme. Menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan komparatif, penelitian ini mengukur motivasi berdasarkan Self Determination Theory yang meliputi kebutuhan otonomi, keterkaitan, dan kompetensi. Data dianalisis menggunakan Uji Wilcoxon. Hasilnya menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan motivasi mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah PKJ yang menandakan kebutuhan dasar mereka telah terpenuhi baik sebelum maupun sesudah PKJ. Abstract. The goal of journalism education is to socialize students with the journalism profession. Since this profession is practice-oriented, universities must integrate theory and practice to bridge the academic and professional worlds. One way to achieve this, is through internship programs. Although internships generally direct students towards careers relevant to their field of study, internships also allow them to explore alternative career paths, which can decrease motivation to work in their field. Several studies have shown a decrease in the motivation of journalism students after internships, despite motivation being a crucial factor in career interest. Therefore, this study aims to compare the motivation of Unpad Journalism Students before and after their internship program, namely Praktik Kerja Jurnalistik (PKJ), to pursue a career in journalism. Using a quantitative method with a comparative approach, this study measures motivation based on the Self Determination Theory, which includes the needs for autonomy, relatedness, and competence. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results show no difference in the motivation of students before and after PKJ, indicating that their basic needs were met both before and after the internship.

Abstract

Media massa memiliki peran penting sebagai pengawas jalannya perhelatan politik khususnya dalam negara dengan sistem politik demokratis, seperti Indonesia. Dalam Pemilihan Umum Presiden Republik Indonesia atau disebut Pilpres, media massa memiliki peran untuk memastikan proses demokrasi berjalan sebagaimana semestinya. Oleh karena itu, media yang mematuhi kode etik jurnalistik, indpenden, objektif, dan berimbang diperlukan dalam memberikan informasi politik yang faktual dan aktual kepada publik. Dari keharusan tersebut, konvergensi media massa dengan produk-produk baru jurnalistik pun menjadi tantangan tersendiri dalam praktik ini. Bocor Alus Politik Tempo merupakan salah satu produk media baru hasil konvergensi berbentuk podcast jurnalistik yang fokus membahas isu-isu terkait Pilpres 2024. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur tingkat keseimbangan konten podcast Bocor Alus Politik Tempo dalam membahas isu Pilpres 2024 menggunakan pendekatan analisis isi kuantitatif dengan aspek keseimbangan dari teori Objektivitas Media yang dikemukakan Westerstahl. Aspek keseimbangan diukur dengan kategori source diversity dari Christoph Spurk dan evenhanded dari Eriyanto. Penelitian terhadap 17 sampel episode, menunjukkan bahwa Bocor Alus Politik Tempo memiliki tingkat aspek keseimbangan sedang terhadap konten podcastnya. Podcast ini mencapai tingkat keseimbangan sangat tingi pada indikator evenhanded dengan memberikan informasi secara netral tanpa kecondongan positif atau negatif. Namun, pada indikator source diversity, hal ini tidak terpenuhi karena Bocor Alus Politik Tempo tidak seimbang dalam memberikan informasi dari sumber kelompok yang berbeda dalam podcastnya. Peningkatan perlu dilakukan agar dapat mencapai tingkat keseimbangan yang lebih baik lagi.

Abstract

Pasca Pilpres 2024 banyak isu yang bermunculan dari kecurangan pilpres, puluhan petugas pemilu 2024 meninggal hingga ajuan gugatan hasil pemilu. Di tengah kontroversialnya isu pasca pemilihan presiden, Prabowo sebagai calon presiden nomor urut 2 mendapatkan pangkat kehormatan oleh Presiden Indonesia, Jokowi. Keputusan Jokowi dalam memberikan kenaikan pangkat jenderal kepada salah satu capres membuat persepsi tentang bias politik. Objektivitas media menjadi hal yang penting dalam memberitakan isu tersebut. Penelitian ini menganalisis netralitas pemberitaan CNN Indonesia terkait isu tersebut dengan menggunakan teori objektivitas oleh Westerstahl (1983) sebagai acuan dan metode analisis isi kuantitatif oleh Krippendorff (2004). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sejauh mana CNN Indonesia mampu menyajikan berita tersebut secara netral. Hasil penelitian pada 33 teks berita terkait isu pemberian pangkat jenderal kepada Prabowo menunjukkan bahwa CNN Indonesia secara umum telah memenuhi standar objektivitas dalam sub dimensi netralitas. Namun, penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi adanya beberapa berita yang belum disajikan dengan netral sehingga perlunya peningkatan dalam menyajikan berita. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi dalam pengembangan praktik jurnalistik agar media lebih objektif dan netral di masa yang akan datang. Post-2024 Presidential Election, many issues have emerged, ranging from electoral fraud, the deaths of dozens of election officials, to lawsuits regarding the election results. Amid the controversy surrounding the post-presidential election issues, Prabowo, as the presidential candidate number 2, received an honorary rank from the President of Indonesia, Jokowi. Jokowi's decision to promote one of the presidential candidates to a general's rank has raised perceptions of political bias. Media objectivity has become crucial in reporting these issues. This study analyzes the neutrality of CNN Indonesia's reporting on this issue using Westerstahl's (1983) theory of objectivity as a reference and Krippendorff's (2004) quantitative content analysis method. The research aims to analyze the extent to which CNN Indonesia is able to present the news neutrally. The results of the study on 33 news articles related to the issue of granting a general's rank to Prabowo indicate that CNN Indonesia has generally met the standards of objectivity in the sub-dimension of neutrality. However, the study also found some articles that were not presented neutrally, indicating a need for improvement in news reporting. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of journalistic practices to ensure that the media becomes more objective and neutral in the future.

Abstract

A community needs to be critical of various health information that is vulnerable to be misused. This article discusses the family medicinal plant development program (TOGA) managed by the PKK and the Women Farmers Group (KWT), in the cities of Semarang and Yogyakarta. In addition to teaching cultivation of family medicinal plants, this program is also an essential pillar of herbal health information literacy facilities for members of the organization. This qualitative descriptive study seeks to understand how the process of communication and transfer of information on herbal health takes place in the Herbal Bejo TOGA Park management program, contribute to the improvement of health literacy particularly in herbal health in a member of organizations. The results showed that trust and high compliance culture to instruc-tion and information of organization are helped members receive good quality and valid health messages because delivered by experts in their fields. On the other hand, changes in the socio-political climate compared to the New Order era and the devel-opment of technology have opened new experiences in organizational communication from the "top-down" vertical communication flow, changing into all directions, in-stantaneous and more democratic.

Abstract

Broadcasting digitization in Indonesia reached a major turning poin with the implementation of the Analog Switch-Off (ASO), as mandated by the Job Creation Law No. 11 of 2020. This policy requires television stations to migrate from analog to digital broadcasting, which brings significant changes to technological advancements and the broadcasting business ecosystem, especially in the media ownership structure. Prior to the ASO, television ownership in West Java was highly centralized and dominated by a few large media groups, which impacted the diversity of content production and distribution. This study aims to analyze the impact of the ASO on the concentration of television ownership in West Java and see whether this transition encourages media diversity or strengthens media conglomeration. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive case study method, this research utilizes Anthony Giddens' Structuration Theory to explore the relationship between media ownership structure and agency in the post-ASO era. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with representatives from television stations and industry stakeholders, supported by document analysis. The findings reveal that despite regulatory changes, media ownership remains concentrated among large networks, limiting opportunities for independent and local television stations to thrive. The study highlights that structural barrier, including financial constraints and regulatory complexity, hinder the democratization of media ownership. In conclusion, while ASO provides the potential for a more diverse broadcasting landscape, existing power structures still dominate, necessitating further policy interventions to promote fair competition and ownership diversity in Indonesia's digital broadcasting era.

Abstract

Partisipasi warga dalam promosi pariwisata memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan daya tarik suatu destinasi wisata. Namun, warga di sekitar Waduk Jatigede, Kabupaten Sumedang, menghadapi kendala dalam menyusun konten promosi wisata berbasis media sosial akibat keterbatasan keterampilan dan pemahaman mengenai strategi penulisan yang efektif. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini, tim abdimas Program Studi Jurnalistik Universitas Padjadjaran mengadakan pelatihan penulisan konten promosi wisata bagi warga di lima desa di Kecamatan Jatigede. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan keterampilan warga dalam menyusun dan mengelola konten media sosial yang menarik dan informatif guna mendukung promosi wisata lokal. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini adalah pendekatan andragogi yang berpusat pada partisipasi aktif peserta dengan teknik tutorial, diskusi, dan praktik menulis. Materi pelatihan mencakup strategi penyusunan konten promosi, pemilihan platform media sosial yang sesuai, serta etika dan teknik penulisan digital. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengalami peningkatan dalam memahami teknik penulisan konten yang efektif, dibuktikan dengan kemampuan mereka menghasilkan konten yang lebih sistematis dan menarik. Selain itu, sebagian besar peserta menyatakan ketertarikan untuk terus mengembangkan keterampilan ini melalui pelatihan lanjutan. Kesimpulannya, pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan kapasitas warga dalam memanfaatkan media sosial untuk promosi pariwisata. Untuk keberlanjutan program, diperlukan pendampingan dan kolaborasi lebih lanjut antara akademisi, pemerintah daerah, dan masyarakat setempat guna memperkuat partisipasi warga dalam industri pariwisata digital.

Abstract

In the face of an era of media convergence and increasingly fierce competition, radio as a mass media continues to strive to remain relevant to its listeners this article highlights the important role of organizational communication in building a positive work climate at Radio Maestro Bandung. Through a qualitative approach, the research identifies effective communication practices such as open communication, ongoing training, and collaboration across social media platforms that support employee motivation and performance. Radio Maestro implements a positive attitude-based strategy in the recruitment process, competency development, as well as providing innovative challenges, despite the challenges of funding and digital media competition. Digital transformation is a key focus in their adaptation to media convergence, including upskilling employees, rebranding, and using platforms like TikTok to expand the reach of young audiences. Effective internal communication support and proactive management are key to success in this change process. Despite facing resistance to innovation, Radio Maestro remains committed to growing and strengthening its digital infrastructure for sustainability in an increasingly competitive media industry. As a result, a conducive “full heart” work culture is created, maintaining the relevance and adaptability of radio in the digital era. This research contributes to enriching the understanding of the strategic role of organizational communication in the process of digital media transformation, especially in local radio, and provides an overview of effective communication practices that can be replicated by other media in facing the era of convergence.

Abstract

Mahaka Radio Integra (MARI) Group Jakarta is a radio group that utilizes new media to sustain its business through integrated marketing communications. The purposes of this research is to determine the strategy of business survival in MARI Group Jakarta through analyze planning, implementation and evaluation. The research use qualitative approach and case study method. The research found that the MARI group's IMC planning involved identifying the target audience, establishing a consistent message, and selecting the media. The implementation includes advertising, sales promotion, public relations, personal selling, digital/Internet marketing, and direct marketing. MARI Jakarta evaluates IMC elements, and starting when the implementation of IMC elements has carried out, evaluation activities run everyday. The evaluation is conducted by collecting data and information on developing IMC elements to measure the success of messages and campaigns, identify strengths and weaknesses, and provide directions and improvements for subsequent IMC implementation. The group of MARI need to integrate teamwork, to plan advertising elements, including advertising campaigns, to select media, to fund management, and to implement IMC elements through good management.
