Abstract

Structural analysis is the science of determining the effects of loads on physical structures and their components. Structural analysis combines the fields of engineering mechanics, materials engineering, and engineering mathematics to calculate deformation of structures, internal forces, stresses, bearing reactions, accelerations, and stability. The designer chooses solidwork software for design and analysis because this software can properly simulate the design and calculation of forces on machine tools and elements. Solidwork contains a collection of simulation programs that are easy to use and can be used to create part programs and material selection used for mechanical analysis at work in order to obtain stress, displacement and safety factors (factory safety). The designed motorcycle lift features a chrome stainless steel frame with a control system, with main dimensions 1800 mm length, 700 mm width and 200 mm height at minimum position, 200 kg weight and 855 mm maximum height reach. Based on the identification using REBA in the mechanical posture after the design, it was found that the risk level decreased compared to before the design, from a high risk level to a low risk level. The results of the mechanical evaluation of the use of the designed motorcycle lift, there are several things that have become shortcomings of this design, among others, in terms of the speed of time in raising the position of the motorbike and the boot of the motorcycle lift which is still too heavy.

Abstract

The use of more environmentally friendly hydrocarbon refrigerants in air conditioning systems has become a demand and a central issue in the future. This article presents the simulation results of the comparison of the use of R22 and R290 on the performance and energy consumption per year of air conditioning systems. The thermodynamic analysis of the system using the two refrigerants used CoolPack software version 1.50 at various evaporation temperatures, with the condensation temperature held constant. The important quantities analyzed are refrigerant mass flow rate, compressor pressure ratio, and refrigerant gas temperature leaving the compressor, heat release in the condenser, compressor power, performance coefficient, and energy consumption. The results of this study indicate that the performance and energy consumption of systems that use the two types of refrigerants basically have no significant difference. However, the R290 has a much lower compressor exit temperature which results in a longer compressor life. In addition, R290 is more environmentally friendly than R22, so the use of R290 is highly recommended.

Abstract

Water is a basic human need both for the needs of daily life, starting from the need for drinking, cooking, and sanitation purposes. For this reason, it is necessary to plan and analyze the piping network in a building using either a gravity system or a pumping system. The mechanical engineering laboratory is one of the buildings within the Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Nusa Cendana University which already has a piping network for distribution of clean water to the bathroom. However, until now this clean water supply has not utilized the reservoir with the existing tower near the laboratory. So, it takes software that can help, to determine the flow characteristics in the pipeline network. The piping network simulation method uses EPANET 2.0. The flow of water in the analyzed piping network is the reservoir to the bathroom. This research was conducted by analyzing the head and pressure in the piping network that will be installed in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory using EPANET 2.0 software and analyzing losses in the pipeline network based on EPANET 2.0 software. The stability of the distribution of clean water, and the analysis period was carried out for 8 hours (extended period) with the condition of the water flow in each pipe in an open condition

Abstract

This research aimed at determining the heat transfer correlation of a heated non-boiling two phase flow consisting of air and water in a horizontal round pipe. The test section was a 24 mm ID cooper pipe with a length 1 m, and the heat transfer data a uniform wall heat flux boundary condition ranging from about 5968,17 to 10503,97 W/m2. From this research, it can be concluded that heat transfer coefficient of two-phase flow of bubble flow is increase as increase of gas superficial velocity and liquid superfisial velocity. The comparison deviation standart between heat transfer coefficient of two-phase flow experimental and heat transfer coefficient of two-phase flow correlation that proposed is 34%, but this deviation is still in limited value for experimental research.

Abstract

Triple cycle power plant with methane as a fuel has been analyzed on the basis of second law of thermodynamics.In this model, ideal Brayton cycle is selected as a topping cycle as it gives higher efficiency at lower pressure ratio comparedintercooler and reheat cycle. In trilple cycle the bottoming cycles are steam Rankine and organic Rankine cycle. Ammoniahas suitable working properties like critical temperature, boiling temperature, etc. Steam cycle consists of a deaerator andreheater. The bottoming ammonia cycle is a ideal Rankine cycle. Single pressure heat recovery steam and ammoniagenerators are selected for simplification of the analysis. The effects of pressure ratio and maximum temperature which aretaken as important parameters regarding the triple cycle are discussed on performance and exergetic losses. On the otherhand, the efficiency of the triple cycle can be raised, especially in the application of recovering low enthalpy content wasteheat. Therefore, by properly combining with a steam Rankine cycle, the ammonia Rankine cycle is expected to efficientlyutilize residual yet available energy to an optimal extent. The arrangement of multiple cycles is compared with combinedcycle having the same sink conditions. The parallel type of arrangement of bottoming cycle is selected due to increasedperformance.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pandemi Covid-19 telah berdampak pada berbagai sektor kehidupan masyarakat, baik pada sektor kesehatan, sosial, maupun ekonomi. Pada sektor ekonomi, pandemi Covid-19 sangat berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi nasional yang turut mempengaruhi sektor ketenagakerjaan, dimana terjadi peningkatan angka pengangguran sebagai akibat dari pemutusan Hubungan Kerja (PHK) yang terjadi selama masa pandemi Covid-19. Universitas sebagai lembaga pendidikan tinggi yang juga mengemban misi pengabdian kepada masyarakat, perlu berkontribusi dalam upaya menyelesaian permasalahan tersebut. Target dalam kegiatan ini adalah pemuda usia produktif yang belum memiliki pekerjaan maupun yang kehilangan pekerjaan sebagai dampak dari pandemi Covid-19. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk memotivasi dan membentuk pola pikir pemuda untuk kreatif dalam menciptakan lapangan kerja dengan keterampilan kewirausahaan. Kegiatan pelatihan dilakukan dalam dua tahap, yaitu penyampaian materi yang bersifat teoritis dan praktek pengecatan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini telah memotivasi dan membentuk pola pikir pemuda dengan peningkatan pemahaman sebesar 78% dan peningkatan keterampilan sebesar 84%, sehingga para pemuda memiliki kemampuan untuk menciptakan lapangan kerja berupa usaha pengecatan kendaraan bermotor. Keberhasilan kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat turut mengurangi tingkat pengangguran yang terjadi di masa pandemi Covid-19. Abstract:  The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has impacted various sectors of people's lives, both in the health, social and economic sectors. As regards economic sector, the pandemic has a powerful effect on national economic growth, mainly, the labour’s sector. Solving problem, as a higher education institution, the university also carries out a community service mission, which is called to contribute for solving problems. The target in this activity is the youth in productive age who do not have a job or who have lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This activity aims to motivate and to create the youth mindsets to be creative in creating jobs with entrepreneurial skills. Training activities are carried out in two methods, namely theoretical of entrepreneur’s skills, and painting practice. This activity has motivated and formed the mindset of youth with an increase in understanding by 78% and an increase in skills by 84%, so that they have the ability to create jobs of automotive painting business. The success of this activity is expected to reduce the unemployment rate during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Penggunaan refrigeran hidrokarbon yang lebih ramah lingkungan dibandingkan dengan hidrofluorokarbon telah menjadi tuntutan dan isu sentral pada masa yang akan datang baik itu di refrigerator rumah tangga maupun di refrigerator industri seperti air blast freezer. Hal ini disebabkan refrigeran hidrokarbon tidak memiliki potensi penipisan ozon ODP dan potensi pemanasan global GWP minimal. Makalah ini menyajikan studi kinerja teoritis penggunaan R290 dan R600a sebagai pengganti R404A dan R507A. Perangkat lunak CoolPack digunakan untuk mensimulasikan kinerja dan konsumsi energi sistem pada beberapa variasi temperatur evaporasi dengan temperatur kondensasi dipertahankan konstan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pada temperatur evaporator minimum, kinerja sistem yang menggunakan R290 dan R600a rata-rata lebih tinggi ±14% dibandingkan dengan R404A dan R507A. R290 memiliki karakteristik yang lebih dekat pada R404A dan R507A sehingga lebih sesuai menggantikan kedua refrigeran tersebut dibandingkan dengan R600a. Namun, ini adalah analisis teoritis sistem yang dapat mengarah pada kinerja yang lebih tinggi daripada kondisi normal. It will be a central issue in the future, both in household refrigerators and in industrial refrigerators such as air blast freezers. That is because hydrocarbon refrigerants have zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and minimal global warming potential (GWP). This paper presents a theoretical performance study of R290 and R600a as substitutes for R404A and R507A refrigerants. CoolPack software is used to simulate the system's performance and energy consumption at several variations of the evaporation temperature, with the condensation temperature being kept constant. The results show that at the minimum evaporator temperature, the system performance using R290 and R600a is ±14% higher on average compared to R404A and R507A. R290 has closer characteristics to R404A and R507A, so it is more suitable to replace the two refrigerants compared to R600a. However, this is a theoretical analysis of the system that can lead to higher performance than normal conditions.

Abstract

Abstrak Pohon Marungga merupakan salah satu tumbuhan yang memiliki manfaat yang besar. Untuk daunnya sendiri dapat dijakdikan menjadi suplemen gizi dan juga sebagai bahan dasar kosmetik. Daun Marungga sendiri dapat dijadikan bubuk untuk selanjutnya diproses ke dalam berbagai kebutuhan. Sebelum dijadikan bubuk, sebelumnya daun tersebut harus dikeringkan. Pengeringan manual selama ini membutuhkan waktu yang panjang dan tidak higienis. Pada penelitian ini diperoleh hasil, proses pengeringan selama 19 jam diperolehhasil penurunan kelembaban tidak bisa dilakukan secara cepat. Hal ini disebabkan karena temperatur dalam ruangan tidak mampu memanaskan udara sekitar dengan cepat sehingga proses pengeringan cenderung lebih lambat. Dengan beban pengeringan 20 kg daun Marungga mentah, diperoleh sekitar 3 kg daun kering.Kata kunci: marungga; perpindahan panas; lemari Abstract Marungga tree is one of the plants that have great benefits. The leaves themselves can be transformed into nutritional supplements and also as a cosmetic base ingredient. Marungga leaves themselves can be used as a powder for further processing into various needs. Before being made into powder, the leaf must be dried beforehand. Manual drying so far requires a long time and is not hygienic. In this study the results were obtained, the drying process for19 hours obtained the result of humidity reduction could not be done quickly. This is because the temperature in the room is not able to heat the surrounding air quickly so the drying process tends to be slower. With a drying load of 20 kg of raw Marungga leaves, about 3 kg of dried leaves are obtained.Keywords: marungga; heat transfer; cabinets

Abstract

Motor diesel dan motor tempel digunakan oleh kelompok nelayan Kurnia, Oesapa, Kupang sebagai penggerak perahu dan pembangkit listrik di lampara. Kedua motor penggerak ini merupakan mesin yang penting dalam menjalankan aktifitas mereka di laut. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pelatihan kepada para pemuda kelompok nelayan Kurnia tentang cara mendiagnosa, memperbaiki, dan merawat motor diesel dan motor tempel secara baik dan benar sehingga mereka mampu untuk memperbaiki dan merawat sendiri kedua mesin tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah pelatihan dan pendampingan secara intensif selama dua minggu. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan ini adalah para pemuda nelayan telah mampu untuk mendiagnosa gangguan atau kerusakan, memperbaiki dan atau mengganti komponen-komponen yang selalu menjadi sumber kerusakan secara mandiri. Disamping itu, mereka juga memahami metode perawatan yang baik dan benar sehingga mampu diharapkan memperpanjang umur pakai dari kedua mesin tersebut.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini mencoba untuk mengungkapkan manfaat sosial pemasangan pembangkit listrik hibrid dengan lampu hemat energi. Manfaat sosial dimaksudkan untuk membantu keluarga prasejahtera, memperluas layanan listrik di dusun, dan mendorong pembangunan dan pertumbuhan ekonomi serta meningkatkan kesejateraan warga dusun. Manfaat sosial ini berpengaruh secara jangka panjang, antara lain seperti, peningkatan kesempatan membaca dan belajar, dan meningkatkan kesehatan, bahkan dengan adanya listrik mempunyai pengaruh yang baik terhadap keluarga berencana (karena pada waktu malam dapat diisi dengan kegiatan sosial, serta memudahkan dan mempercepat masyarakat dusun memperoleh informasi dari media elektronik). Staf pengajar dan mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Mesin Universitas Nusa Cendana melakukan diseminasi teknologi pembangkit listrik hibrid ini untuk meningkatkan indeks pengembangan manusia di dusun Niskolen. Diseminasi ini tidak hanya memberikan manfaat di atas tetapi juga keamanan. Terakhir, diseminasi ini dapat meningkatkan percaya diri mitra sehingga dapat membuka jalan bagi pengembangan berbagai inovasi dan kewirausahaan dusun.
