Abstract

Abstract

The primary objective of toll roads is to stimulate economic growth. As the pivotal road network on Java Island, the Trans-Java Toll Road has a significant impact on regional development and spatial planning. However, there has been a lack of research focusing on the specific influence of this toll road on spatial planning. Therefore, this study aims to comprehensively examine the spatial and temporal implications of the Trans-Java Toll Road. To achieve this goal, the Normalized Difference Built-Up Index (NDBI) method is employed using satellite imagery. This method is widely recognized for its effectiveness in detecting changes in built-up areas through remote sensing techniques. The calculated NDBI values reveal substantial expansion of built-up areas in the cities and regencies traversed by the Trans-Java Toll Road. Notably, two specific areas with the highest rates of change are investigated: Gresik Regency and Bekasi Regency, where the built-up areas have experienced remarkable growth of over 186.9% and 61.8% respectively over a five-year period. To validate these findings, Google Earth imagery is utilized for two different years, namely 2016 and 2021. The observed changes in these regions are predominantly attributed to the economic growth facilitated by the establishment of industrial areas. Consequently, the expansion of industrial zones and settlements has resulted in a notable reduction in wetland areas and a simultaneous increase in built-up areas.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the spatial-temporal land use changes around Jatibarang Reservoir in Semarang City, Indonesia City from 2012 to 2022, utilizing Google Earth data. The Jatibarang Reservoir and its surrounding areas have been subject to rapid urbanization and land use transformations in recent years, leading to significant environmental and socio-economic implications. The classification accuracy of seven land use categories was validated, demonstrating a high level of accuracy. The analysis reveals a dominance of agricultural land use, with notable shifts observed in forest cover, settlements, and reservoir areas. Population growth, economic development, and policy interventions are identified as the main drivers behind these land use changes. The spatial analysis using Nearest Neighbor Analysis (NNA) indicates a scattered distribution pattern of land use changes, primarily concentrated in the western part of the reservoir area. These land use changes have significant social, economic, and environmental implications, impacting the sustainability of the reservoir and surrounding areas. The study highlights the need for improved data quality, rigorous validation methods, and spatial modeling approaches in future research. By understanding the dynamics of land use changes and their implications, policymakers and stakeholders can make informed decisions for sustainable land management and environmental conservation in similar contexts.

Abstract

Southeast Sulawesi is a province that has become one of the destinations for transmigration and urbanization due to its low population density and abundant natural resources. This area is supported by the existence of supporting sectors such as agriculture, service industry, animal husbandry, fisheries, tourism and culture. This potential can lead to an increase in population and have an impact on increasing the need for residential land. Land suitability analysis is very important and relevant as a basis for reference in regional development to anticipate impacts that will occur in the future. This study aims to analyze and evaluate the suitability of residential areas in Southeast Sulawesi Province based on the RTRW of Southeast Sulawesi Province and the Regional Regulation of Southeast Sulawesi Province No. 2 of 2014. The method used is Spatial Multi Criteria Analysis (SMCA) because it excels in location determination analysis and decision making. The results show that there are 373,598.3 hectares of land in Southeast Sulawesi that are suitable and can be developed for residential areas. The evaluation of the RTRW found deviations in the actualization of spatial planning, especially in the Protected and Cultivated Areas. Therefore, this study can be used as an initial reference in re-evaluating the RTRW of Southeast Sulawesi Province.

Abstract

The new Depati Amir Airport was built in 2013, which can destroy the natural vegetation due to the airport's development and extensive buildings. The research aims to identify and analyze the spatial‐temporal land‐use change characteristics in the new Depati Amir Airport. The land use change detections are in the new Depati Amir Airport by spatial-temporal analysis with three land use maps (2004, 2014, and 2022) on Google Earth Imagery. Google Earth Imagery is analyzed with QGIS to assess spatiotemporal land use changes in the new Depati Amir Airport between 2004, 2014, and 2022. Depati Amir Airport, as the new airport in Bangka Tengah Regency, has influenced land use change in Bangka Tengah Regency. The new Depati Amir Airport land types are buildings, including roads, natural vegetation, tin mining, and open space. The three new Depati Amir Airport Imagery in 2004, 2014, and 2022 on Google Earth Data can examine land use changes that depict red, orange, purple, and green rectangles. The natural vegetation and tin mining decreased due to the development of a new airport, such as roads, open spaces, and extensive buildings with a significant transformation. Hence, understanding the land use changes for local governments, regional planners, and scientific communities require close attention to spatial to reach crucial knowledge.

Abstract

In this study, we focus on the repetitive nature of earthquakes along known fault lines and their potential to create new fault segments. Our primary aim is to enhance our understanding of fault patterns and distribution, facilitating more efficient and accurate earthquake disaster mitigation efforts. Our research specifically targets the vertical deformation resulting from the 2022 Cianjur Earthquake. To achieve this, we employed a sophisticated technique involving data processing from the Sentinel 1A satellites using the Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) method. This method allowed us to derive earthquake-induced displacement values in meters with an impressive level of accuracy, down to the centimeter scale. Our analysis revealed a conspicuous fringe pattern in the interferogram phase data, which did not align with the nearby Cimandiri Fault. This discrepancy led us to suspect the emergence of a new fault or fault segment. By comparing Sentinel 1A satellite images before and after the earthquake, we observed phase differences ranging from -3.112 to 3.117 phases. These recurring phase differences clustered at coordinates 6?48'48" South Latitude and 107?06'05" East Longitude, pinpointing the epicenter of the Cianjur earthquake on November 21, 2022. Furthermore, we calculated line-of-sight (LoS) displacement values ranging from 0 to minus 102 millimeters, indicating vertical subsidence in the vicinity of the 2022 Cianjur earthquake. In conclusion, our research underscores the utility of the DInSAR method for assessing Earth's surface deformation patterns, making it a valuable tool for various earthquake-related analyses.

Abstract

Earthquake events are disasters that cannot be predicted and have the possibility of recurring. The earthquake that hit Cianjur Regency on November 22 2022 provided lessons in dealing with and evaluating affected areas and sectors so that going forward it would be able to reduce victims and damage. Cugenang District is one of the sub-districts affected by the earthquake, plus a fault zone or Cugenang Fault has been identified. One of the sectors affected is the education sector, especially elementary schools in their teaching and learning activities. This study aims to identify the distribution pattern of elementary schools as a trigger factor for evaluating locations with an earthquake risk index level. As for the evaluation, the Nearest Neighbor Analysis (NNA) method and overlay analysis were used so that a random distribution pattern was obtained in Elementary Schools that followed settlements, and Elementary Schools with high levels of damage were obtained in locations with high earthquake indexes so that they were used as basis for consideration of relocation. Abstract

A landslide is a disaster that often occurs in Indonesia, especially in morphology that has rough topography. This disaster is caused by faults, natural factors such as rainfall, topography, soil type, rock type, and human activity factors such as changes in land covered by a land cover or other factors related to landslide triggers. This research is located in the northern part of the Cianjur residency, this area is located between active volcanic mountains which have a distribution of sedimentary rocks and volcanic rocks, which are included in the Bandung physiographic zone, and have the new Cugenang fault. The unit of analysis is districts, which consist of 10 sub-districts. The purpose of this study was to analyze the landslide hazard distribution in the northern part of the Cianjur regency. The study used a sptial approach by using the weight overlay method for all parameters that have previously been analyzed and interpolated. The results of this study are very high Susceptibility covering 0.06%, high Susceptibility 47.49%, moderate Susceptibility 52%, and low Susceptibility 0.01%. The most vulnerable area is Sukaresmi, and the sub-district with moderate Susceptibility is Cikalong Kulon, while the low and high Susceptibility is relatively scattered in all areas with a small percentage. Based on the parameters analyzed, it means that rainfall and slope are the dominant driving factors in landslide Susceptibility in the northern part of the Cianjur regency because they have a large weight. This study provides a classification related to landslide susceptibility mapping in the northern part of Cianjur.
