Abstract

Identification of physical and social potential needs to be done so that it can be developed as an ecotourism object that has a role in improving the economy of a region. Physical and social potential data can be obtained and interpreted from satellite imagery using remote sensing which is then verified through surveys and direct measurements in the field using GPS and digital maps. Data analysis was performed using the overlay method in GIS. Remote sensing methods using satellite imagery have proven to be superior for obtaining information on an area effectively and sustainably. Landsat imagery 8 and 9 are used to periodically monitor changes in the physical condition of the Neglasari Village area so that they can be used for analysis of the carrying capacity of the environment for ecotourism. The use of the NDVI, NDBI and NDWI algorithms produces suitability for developing ecotourism objects. Attractive and interesting physical and social potential to be developed as an ecotourism object are river channels, hilltops, camping grounds, and agricultural land. All these interesting objects have the potential to support sustainable ecotourism in Neglasari Village.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a high potential for disasters such as earthquakes, which usually cause changes in the shape/position of the earth's surface (deformation). The Cianjur area has a seismic vulnerability level value based on maximum ground acceleration, maximum intensity and earthquake return period. On Monday, November 21, 2022 at 13.21 WIB there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 M in the Cianjur area of West Java based on BMKG data, until November 22, 2022 there were 140 aftershocks with magnitudes of 1.2-4.2 and an average depth of approximately 10 km. As a result, causing subsidence, the purpose of this study is to determine the magnitude of subsidence in landslides due to the 2022 Cianjur earthquake using the DInSAR method. Vertical land subsidence (displacement data) due to the earthquake from DInSAR observations on displacement data, which ranged up to -101mm vertically with two soil types andosol and cambisol Overlay analysis of soil type and displacement data showed the highest area of displacement, found a match based on information circulating that Cugenang Sub-district is the most severely affected area (the existence of a new fault "Cugenang").

Abstract

The flow of urbanization is unstoppable as the population grows, which is followed by an increase in the need for built-up land such as housing, commercial centers, public services, industry. Meanwhile, each land has different characteristics to support these human activities. In land suitability studies, the slope is an important factor and is always involved. This study aims to determine the influence of slope on the development of built-up land in Serang Regency, as one of the areas with a high population growth rate and a variety of regional morphologies. Land cover/land use change analysis was used to determine the spatial distribution of additional built-up land in the period 2019-2023 and 2023-2031. 87% of the additional built-up land in 2019-2023 is located in areas with slopes of 2-15%. Then based on the Serang Regency Regional Spatial Plan 2011-2031, as much as 84% of the additional built-up land is in areas with slopes of 2-15%. This shows that the slope aspect has had a significant influence on the development of Serang Regency, where more than 80% of the additional built-up land has been located in zones that are safe from land slide.

Abstract

Spatial multi-criteria analysis (SMCA) has been used by researchers to conduct research in geography. One of them is how to determine protected areas in an area, namely Serang City, Banten. This research aims to review what the determination of the coastal boundary distance variable looks like for the SMCA analysis process. The criteria were determined through a literature review, both in terms of applicable regulations and scientific articles. Based on the results of the review, it was concluded that the coastal boundary variable is measured from the shoreline towards the mainland by 100 - 300 meters. The minimum criterion value is 100 meters, while the criteria values of 200 meters and 300 meters can be adjusted according to the level of hazard risk. The area along the north coast of Serang City bordering the Java Sea is included in the protected area. The area must be preserved and development restricted.

Abstract

In December 2018, the coastal town of Tirtayasa, Banten, suffered severe damage from a tsunami, leaving the area highly vulnerable to future disasters. This research assesses the tsunami’s impact, thoroughly evaluating damage to infrastructure and vegetation using high-resolution satellite imagery. By comparing pre- and post-tsunami images, we quantitatively measure resilience and devastation, documenting significant landscape changes to better understand the extent of damage and identify resilient areas. These insights are critical for developing effective disaster response plans. The study employs advanced geospatial analytic techniques, demonstrating how satellite imagery enhances disaster preparedness and management by enabling prompt and accurate assessments, which are essential for both emergency response and long-term recovery planning. Integrating satellite-based remote monitoring into standard disaster management practices offers substantial advantages, improving the preparedness and response capabilities of vulnerable areas. This research highlights the importance of advanced change detection techniques to improve the accuracy of impact assessments and foster the development of targeted measures to mitigate the effects of future natural disasters.

Abstract

Urbanization is the result of persistent population increase, which turns formerly agrarian areas into industrial and service-based hubs. This change prompts concerns about environmental degradation, including flooding, declining agricultural output, and air pollution, as well as a rise in demand for residential real estate, a limited resource. Goal 11 of the Sustainable Development Agenda, ”Building Inclusive, Safe, Resilient, and Sustainable Cities and Communities” addresses these problems. However, a comprehensive LSA incorporating local climate aspects has not been conducted for Serang Regency, an area with significant population growth and diverse land characteristics. This study aims to map the spatial distribution of suitable residential land in Serang Regency; evaluate the suitability of current residential areas; and assess the alignment of settlement plans with suitability criteria in the spatial plan. Findings reveal that 65.5% of Serang Regency is suitable for residential use, while 32% is unsuitable. Currently, 71.2% of settlements are in suitable areas, and 28.2% are in unsuitable ones. Future settlement plans show 90.7% alignment with suitable areas. These results indicate that, while spatial planning in Serang Regency has generally guided appropriate residential development, some areas still require attention for sustainability. This study provides valuable insights for policymakers aiming to foster sustainable, safe, and comfortable living environments.
