Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the creative thinking skills of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Surabaya students in learning mathematics using an open-ended approach. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with research subjects of class VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Surabaya. The instrument used in this study was a description of questions consisting of 4 questions. The research results obtained from the students' answers in solving the questions showed that as many as 20 out of 30 students had quite high creative thinking skills. The percentage of creative thinking skills is 67%.Keyword: Mathematics Learning, Creative Thinking Ability, Open-Ended Approach

Abstract

Cats are one of the animals that are often kept as pets by humans. However, it turns out that cats can act as hosts for transmitting various types of dangerous diseases, both caused by endoparasites and ectoparasites. Therefore, the role of cat owners is very important in maintaining the health of their pet cats. Remembering that a cat's life depends on the care it provides. This service activity aims to educate cat owners about the dangers, symptoms and ways to prevent endoparasite and ectoparasite infections in their pet cats. Maintaining the health of your pet cat is important, because the cat's health can affect the health of its owner. This is because some diseases in cats can be transmitted to humans. The method used in this service is a presentation and discussion with the cat owner, after which it continues with the activity of examining the cat's hair and distributing shampoo and cat food. To measure the level of understanding of pet cat owners, a pretest (before the activity) and posttest (at the end of the activity) were carried out. This activity was carried out in RW 001, RT 07, RT 08, and RT 11 Tambaksari, Surabaya, and was attended by 32 pet cat owners, namely 14 domestic cats, 8 Angoras, 6 Persians, and 3 Himalayans. The average pre-test score was 54.07 points, while the average post-test score was 73.70 points. This means that there is an increase in pet cat owners' understanding regarding the symptoms, dangers and ways to prevent endoparasite and ectoparasite infections in cats. It is hoped that this educational activity will be sustainable so that cat owners can always look after and pay attention to the health of their pet cats. Abstract

ujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu, mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulisan peserta didik berdasarkan hasil ulangan harian pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar serta mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan peserta didik berdasarkan hasil ulangan harian pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deksriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII B SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Surabaya Tahun Pelajaran 2022/2023. Pengambilan subjek menggunakan purposive sampling dari nilai tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Enam subjek terpilih dengan ketentuan dua subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis tinggi, dua subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis sedang, dan dua subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis rendah. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi, tes dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis untuk subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis tinggi memenuhi lima indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis, subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis sedang memenuhi tiga indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis dan subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis rendah memenuhi dua indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis tulis. (2) Kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan untuk subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi tinggi mampu memenuhi lima indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan, subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi sedang mampu memenuhi empat indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan, dan subjek dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis rendah hanya mampu memenuhi tiga indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT House flies (Musca domestica) are vectors or mechanical transmitters of various infectious diseases through their body parts. The use of chemical insecticides to control houseflies has harmful effects on non-target insects, as well as exposure to humans and the environment. The use of insecticides made from natural ingredients is a solution to overcome the use of synthetic chemical insecticides. Papaya (Carica papaya) is a plant that is easy to grow and contains flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, saponins, papain, calpain, and a number of other secondary metabolic compounds that are anti-mycoorganisms and parasites. This type of experimental research with a post test only group design aims to test the effect of papaya leaf extract on house fly activity. There are 3 treatments, namely P1 (papaya leaf extract), P2 (aquades) and P3 (branded liquid mosquito repellent). Each treatment was repeated 6 times. The research sample was 104 house flies. The results of the Mann Whitney test showed that there was a very significant difference (p<0.01) in the number (presentation) of houseflies that experienced changes in normal activity to abnormal ones between the administration of papaya leaf extract (72%) and the negative control using distilled water (0%). Meanwhile, administering branded liquid mosquito repellent provides 100% of the effect of flies experiencing abnormal activity. Thus, papaya leaf extract has been proven to have potential as a house fly repellent, although the effect is not as great as branded liquid mosquito repellent (p<0.05). Abstract

Tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan memahami sekolah berwawasan lingkungan sebagai upaya pembentukan karakter lingkungan siswa sekolah adiwiyata SD Kota Surabaya, yang di laksanakan pada 3 sekolah yaitu SAIMS, SD M 9 Bahari Surabaya dan SD M 18 Surabaya dengan status kelas mulai kelas 4-6. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini secara kuantitatif. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis regresi linier sederhana dengan tujuan untuk menemukan adanya tidaknya hubungan atau pengaruh antar variable. Hasil analisis korelasi diperoleh angka koefisien korelasi R dengan table model Summary, R2 = sebesar 0.121 dari output tersebut diperoleh koefisien diterminasi 0,016 yang mengandung pengertian bahwa pengaruh variable bebas terhadap variable terikat sebesar 0,16 %. Uji anova dalam outputnya diketahui bahwa nilai F hitung = 4.112 dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,04 < 0,05. Mak uji regresi dapat diapakai untuk memprediksi varibel sekolah berwawasan lingkungan (X) terhadap variable terikat (Y). Dari table ANOVA, nilai F sebesar 14.391 dengan uji signifikan 0,000. Dari Uji t dapat dilihat nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,04 lebih kecil dari 0,05, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima berarti ada pengaruh signifikan antara sekolah berwawasan lingkungan terhadap karakter lingkungan siswa.

Abstract

Background: Pengabdian yang diimplementasikan ini merupakan kegiatan yang dilakukan secara kerjasama dengan SD Muhammadiyah 7 Surabaya sebagai bentuk dari salah satu pembuktian tri dharma perguruan tinggi UMSurabaya. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini melalui pengetahuan tentang mencangkok pada siswa sekolah dasar yang diperoleh secara teoritis pada pembelajaran di kelas. Tempat pengabdian ini lakukan di Kebun Botani FKIP UMSurabaya. Kebun Botani memiliki greenhouse yang menfasilitasi mahasiswa dan dosen melakukan penelitian maupun kegiatan ekstra.  Metode: Metode yang digunakan yaitu melalui persiapan pengabdian, dilanjutkan dengan pelaksanaan pengabdian di Kebun Botani dan Evaluasi Pengabdian. Hasil: Pada kesempatan ini, rombongan belajar siswa melakukan kegiatan praktik di luar kelas dengan materi mencangkok. Prodi Pendidikan Biologi sebagai mitra mampu mewadahi kegiatan yang sudah direncanakan pihak sekolah. Praktik mencangkok yang dilakukan oleh siswa SD Muhammadiyah 7 Surabaya dengan pembimbingan dan pendampingan dari dosen dan mahasiswa Program Studi Biologi di Kebun Botani UMSurabaya memberikan hasil Praktik secara langsung pada lingkungan nyata memberikan efek meningkatnya motivasi siswa untuk belajar. Kesimpulan: Pengetahuan siswa terhadap materi perkembangbiakan vegetative tanaman focus mencangkok mengalami peningkatan. Kebun Botani UMSurabaya menjadi sumber belajar yang menarik dan representative pada kegiatan pembelajaran praktik mencangkok bagi siswa SD Muhammadiyah 7 Surabaya.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia, as a coastal country, possesses abundant biological resources, among which the mangrove ecosystem plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, protecting coastlines, and providing habitats for marine life. However, the younger generation’s understanding of the ecological functions of mangroves remains limited, including in Bulak District, Surabaya City. The Community Empowerment Partnership Programme (PKM) on Mangrove Ecosystem Education based on Virtual Reality (VR) was implemented at SD Muhammadiyah 9 Surabaya with the aim of enhancing students’ environmental literacy and improving teachers’ capacity in utilizing digital learning media. Methods: This programme involved socialization, teacher training, VR media implementation, mentoring, and evaluation through student pre-tests and post-tests. Results: The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ understanding of mangrove ecosystems, as reflected by higher post-test scores compared to pre-test scores. Teachers also demonstrated enhanced skills in operating VR media and designing participatory learning activities. Conclusions: Active collaboration among the community service team, schools, and committees contributed to the programme’s success and ensured the sustained use of VR media as an innovative learning strategy. Overall, the integration of VR in environmental education has proven effective, positively impacting students’ ecological literacy, teacher competency development, and sustainable technology-based learning models in coastal areas.

Abstract

Collaboration skills are one of the 21st-century skills that are important to develop for stu-dents because they are life tools needed when continuing their studies in school, engaging in society, and in the world of work. As a result, teachers must facilitate students' collaboration skills and measure them. Valid, reliable, and effective instruments are needed to measure students' collaboration skills. This study aims to develop an instrument to measure students' collaboration skills. This research uses a 4-D development model of defining, designing, developing, and Disseminating. At the define stage, it was found that many teachers still needed instruments to measure collaboration skills and determine indicators of collaboration skills. The design results obtained are collaboration instruments in learning. These consist of 9 indicators: contribution, time management, problem-solving, working with others, investi-gative techniques, quality of work, focus on tasks, readiness, and monitoring group effecti-veness. Next, scoring is determined. The instrument was validated by experts and tested in 2 trials. The first trial was conducted at SMAM 7 and SMAM 3 Surabaya in class XI. Vali-dity results stated that the instrument was very valid. The results of trials using the IBSC learning model show that the instrument is reliable and considerably effective in measuring collaboration skills. The novelty of this study resulted in a collaborative instrument worthy of use both theoretically and empirically.
