Abstract

Bullying continues to be a serious problem in education, eroding children’s emotional health, pulling down their academic motivation, and distorting the positive atmosphere in their classrooms. Deepening character education by weaving together the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) values and the Emotional-Spiritual Quotient (ESQ) framework helps students master self-control and cultivates a culture of respect to prevent bullying. This study aimed to examine the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening (P5) theme ‘Building Soul and Body’ by integrating the Emotional and Spiritual Quotient (ESQ) approach as a strategy for bullying prevention in elementary schools. Conducted at SDN 224 Cijambe, Bandung, the research adopted a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design involving 84 fourth-grade students over two weeks. The study integrated lectures, group discussions, simulations, and reflective activities to foster empathy, emotional regulation, and social skills. The findings reveal that bullying behaviors, such as verbal teasing, significantly decreased from 40% to 10%, while active participation in group activities increased from 20% to 75%. Students demonstrate a deeper awareness of respecting their peers, fostering a more positive classroom environment. Activities such as collaborative games and discussions allowed students to reflect on their actions and develop emotional intelligence. This research highlights the success of integrating P5 and ESQ in character education, emphasizing the importance of empathy, responsibility, and social harmony in combating bullying. Teachers played a pivotal role as facilitators and role models in program success, though challenges such as time constraints in implementation were noted. This approach offers a scalable model for broader application in other educational settings. Keywords: Bullying prevention, character development, elementary education, ESQ

Abstract

This study analyzes student development programs aimed at strengthening the religious identity of Muslim youth in the digital age, conducted at a modern Islamic boarding school in Subang Regency. It focuses on program effectiveness, the influence of digital technology, the role of educators, and student responses. A phenomenological qualitative approach was applied to explore participants’ lived experiences. Participants included 12 students, 3 boarding school teachers, 1 character-building teacher, 4 Islamic education teachers, and 2 murobbi, selected purposively based on their involvement in the guidance program. Data were collected through structured and open-ended online interviews via Google Form, supported by documentation and behavioral observation. Analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model: data reduction, display, and verification through triangulation and member checking. Findings indicate that the program effectively strengthens religiosity through educator collaboration in activities such as congregational prayer, Qur’an recitation, spiritual studies, and digital ethics, enhancing student discipline and independence. Religious identity was reinforced through modeling, evaluation, and discussion, though digital distractions required close supervision. The roles of character-building teachers, Islamic education staff, and dormitory supervisors complemented one another, including innovations using digital media. Students’ responses were generally positive, influenced by internal and external motivations. Overall, the program fosters adaptive religiosity in the digital era while requiring improved monitoring and flexibility for sustainable outcomes.

Abstract

Teachers hold moral and professional responsibility in guiding student development. Professional competence includes content mastery, pedagogy, technology, and professional growth. Religious teachers must integrate digital literacy to enhance professional performance. Digital literacy helps teachers access, process, and share information effectively. Teachers with strong digital skills improve teaching relevance and student engagement. This study aims to develop a conceptual model for digital literacy enhancement. It focuses on Islamic Religious Education teachers in Indonesian secondary schools. This research used a Research and Development (R&D) approach. The Four-D method was applied: Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate. Data were collected through surveys, interviews, observations, tests, and documentation. Respondents were Islamic Education teachers in West Java. The result is the INSTANT Model for digital literacy training. The model includes: Introduction, Need-based, Scaffolding, Training, Application, Nurturing, and Test. It incorporates constructivism, connectivism, cognitive, social, and experiential learning theories. Experts and users validated the model’s practicality and effectiveness. The model improved teachers' skills with an average N-Gain of 74.4% (high category). Stakeholders positively received the model in various dissemination formats. The INSTANT Model offers a practical framework for teacher digital competence development. Keywords: Digital Literacy; INSTANT Model; Professional Competence.
