Abstract

Critical thinking is one of the most vital competencies demanded by twenty-first-century education. However, a preliminary assessment at SD Negeri 84/II Empelu revealed that only 15% of fourth-grade students met established critical thinking criteria, reflecting persistent teacher-centered instructional practices. This classroom action research aimed to determine whether the implementation of the Guided Discovery Learning model assisted by interactive PowerPoint media could improve students' critical thinking skills. The study followed the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model across two cycles with four instructional meetings, involving 20 fourth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through critical thinking essay tests and structured teacher and student observation sheets, then analyzed descriptively with a predetermined success criterion of at least 80% classical mastery. Results showed a progressive improvement in student mastery from 15% at baseline to 60% in Cycle I and 85% in Cycle II, surpassing the success criterion, with all five critical thinking indicators reaching the very good category by the final cycle. These findings confirm that integrating Guided Discovery Learning with interactive PowerPoint media effectively promotes critical thinking development in elementary school classrooms.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes are determined by science process skills that encourage active involvement of students in learning activities according to the learning outcomes of IPAS. This study aims to improve the learning process, science process skills, and learning outcomes of science class III at SD Negeri 095/II Muara Bungo using the Children Learning In Science model. Low science process skills and the fact that half of the students have not met the Minimum Learning Completeness Criteria (KKTP) are the drivers behind this study. This type of research is classroom action research applied during two learning cycles covering four learning phases, including planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Two meetings are held in each cycle. The data collection tools used are tests and observations. The results of this study show that the average science process skills and learning outcomes in cycle I have increased in cycle II. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the Children Learning In Science model has succeeded in improving students' process skills and social studies learning outcomes. The CLIS model is an effective strategy in encouraging the active participation of students in the learning process so that the skills gained can be used to deal with problems in life.   Abstrak Hasil belajar peserta didik ditentukan oleh keterampilan proses sains yang mendorong keterlibatan aktif peserta didik dalam kegiatan pembelajaran sesuai capaian pembelajaran IPAS. Abstract

This study was motivated by the incomplete learning administration of several teachers at SD IT Quran Darul Ikhlas Al-Islami Tambang Baru, Merangin Regency. Learning administration is an important part of teacher professionalism because it supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of instruction. This study aimed to describe the principal’s efforts to improve teachers’ learning administration and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors. A qualitative case-study approach was employed from 1 to 13 September 2025. The principal served as the main informant, while four homeroom teachers from Grades I, II, IV, and VI served as supporting informants. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data credibility was examined through source and method triangulation, and the data were analyzed through reduction, display, conclusion drawing, and verification. The findings show that the principal’s efforts included classroom supervision, participation in training and workshops, learning communities and teacher working groups (KKG), and motivational seminars. A formal reward-and-consequence policy had not yet been established, although praise and individual coaching were practiced. Supporting factors included the principal’s competence, adequate facilities, and teachers’ motivation and awareness. Inhibiting factors included limited time and workload, fluctuating motivation, and limited understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum. Overall, the principal’s efforts contributed to more orderly learning administration, but continuous monitoring, intensive mentoring, and optimal use of digital technology are still needed.
