Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop learning media for wave ripple tanks with the implementation of guided inquiry models on the conceptualization and creativity of students in physics subjects in class XI with the material of mechanical wave characteristics. The wave ripple tank learning media is used as a tool in the learning process that can improve students' mastery of concepts and creativity. This study uses the Research and Development method with a 4D design (Define, Design, Development, Disseminate). At the defining stage, the initial analysis was carried out, namely examining the background behind the emergence of researchers' ideas. The design stage is carried out by designing the wave ripple tank learning media with the implementation of guided inquiry models. The development stage is a development activity as well as an assessment of the experts which includes the validation test of the development results of the device, media ripple tank learning, and assessment instruments. The last stage is the dissemination stage, where the results of this study are distributed to schools to be used as a model that can be used

Abstract

Nyirih tradition is one of popular traditions in Indonesia, a country with a diverse ethnic groups, cultures, and languages. The traditions are potential to be explored and used as contextual learning materials. This research aims to analyze the relationship between science (physics, biology, and chemistry) on the use of Betel leaf in the Nyirih tradition. This research used an ethnoscience approach, an approach which raises various cultures in a society to become a science learning topic, so that it would be easier for students to integrate various material in science learning with the real-life  contexts. It was a qualitative research using the study literature type which consists of several steps, namely: (1) determining the topic, (2) gathering materials as references, (3) making an introduction, (4) determining the method, (5) discussing the findings, and (6) making a conclusion. The results suggest that the use of Betel leaf in Nyirih tradition could become an interesting topic in explaining several concepts in science.

Abstract

This study aims to the effectiveness of guided inquiry learning tools to improve understanding concepts of students on momentum and impulse materials. The learning device was developed using a 4D model consisting of four steps, namely define, design, develop and disseminate. This research was conducted at SMAN 4 Mataram in the tenth grade of MIPA 1 with a total of 20 people. The data was obtained in the form of pre-test and post-test scores. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro Wilk test and paired sample t-test at a significance level of 5%. The results of the Shapiro Wilk test show that the data are normally distributed and meet the requirements to perform a parametric test. The results of the paired sample t-test show that the t-count (24.347) is greater than the t-table (2.093). This means that there is influence of guided inquiry learning tools improves understanding concepts of students. These results indicate that the guided inquiry learning model is effective to improve understanding concepts of students on momentum and impulse materials

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning devices based on conceptual change model to improve concept mastery of students in the gas kinetic theory material. The learning device was developed with a 4D model which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The tools developed are syllabus, lesson plans, student worksheets, and concept mastery test instruments. The research data was obtained from the results of a limited trial of 27 students of eleventh-grade MIPA 1 at SMAN 1 Kediri. The data analysis technique used in this research is data analysis using n-gain. Based on the results of the n-gain analysis, a score of 0.60 was obtained in the medium category for all students. The n-gain analysis of each student resulted in 18.51% of students experiencing a high level of concept mastery, 70.37% of students experiencing a moderate level of concept mastery, and 11.11% of students experiencing a level of mastery with low criteria. These results indicate that the learning devices based on the conceptual change model are effective to improve concept mastery of students in the gas kinetic theory material

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the content of the magnetic mineral compound of natural iron sand on the beach of Lombok Island. This study uses the experimental method by taking primary data which is carried out in three locations, namely at Ijobalit Beach (East Lombok), Cemara Beach (West Lombok), and Telindung Beach (East Lombok). The study stage begins with a separation of natural iron sand, then a magnetic mineral separation is carried out to obtain Fe3O4 powder. The last stage is testing the Fe content using AAS (atomic absorption spectrophotometry). The research results were obtained by the percentage of magnetic mineral content from Ijobalit beach sand, Cemara Beach, and Telindung Beach respectively 93.56, 72.99, and 87.00%. The results showed that natural iron sand from Ijobalit beach had great potential to be used as a basic material for making microwave absorbers.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the PhET simulation-assisted project-based learning model on students' ability to master the concept of elasticity.  The type of research used in this study was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group design.  The population in this study were all students of class XI IPA at SMAN 1 Wanasaba East Lombok, totaling 142 students.  The research sample was taken using purposive sampling, so that 31 students were selected in class XI IPA 2 as the experimental class and 31 students in XI IPA 1 as the control class.  The independent variable in this study was the PhET simulation-assisted project-based learning model used in the experimental class, while the ability to master the concept became the control variable.  The instrument used to measure the students' mastery of the concept is a test instrument in the form of a description test on the material elasticity of 6 questions.  The results of the pre-test data analysis showed that the students' initial knowledge was almost the same, but after being given treatment, the average post-test score of the experimental class was 79.22 and that of the control class was 72.64.  The results of the t test using the Independent Sample T test on the post-test showed a significance (2 tailed) less than 0.050, so it can be concluded that the project-based learning model assisted by the PhET simulation has an effect on students' ability to master the concept of elasticity.
