Abstract

The economic and ecological objectives in the development of private forest are conflicting, thus led to deforestation. The objectives of the study were to analyze  factors affecting farmers’s decision in determining for the aim (economic or ecological objectives) of their land management by using logistic regession, and  to analyze resources allocation in private forest that gives the best compromise solution between economic and ecological objectives by multi-objective programming approach and scenarios. The result shows that farmers are still economic oriented in determining the aim of their land management, mostly affected by number of farm household, off-farm income, participation in farmer group meeting, participation in extention meeting and farmer’s experiance in farm factors. Land management scenario that the closest to the target value (Rp 39.907 billion per year) is land management with minimum land area requirement, so that the value received by farmers is Rp 21.038 billion per year. Capital is a limitting factor in optimizing the use of available resources.

Abstract

Pasar Modern Plaju is a modern market, which was relocated from the traditional market Pasar Plaju so that there is a change in management of the market. Vegetables are the most widely sold commodity in the market, one of which is potatoes. Potatoes harvested area and production in South Sumatra had fluctuated in the past five years. Producer and consumer prices also fluctuated but have positive trends. Changes in market management and potato prices are always fluctuating, which would affect the market structure. The study aimed at determining the buying and selling activities and the structure of the potato market in Pasar Modern Plaju. The data came from 10 potato retailers. The data collected is daily data from buying and selling activities during January 2020 and was analyzed quantitatively. The analysis used was market concentration ratio (CR) and HHI (Herfindal-Hirschman Index). The result showed the diluent traders bought potatoes from a collector at a maximum of 600 kg per purchase, did not do grading, and the payment system was in cash. The market concentration ratio showed 59,18% CR4 and 93,27% CR8 was indicated that the structure of the potato market in Pasar Modern Plaju was oligopsony. HHI value 1.313 also showed that the potatoes market structure trend to word oligopsony market. These findings imply that the structure market can be influenced by the type of market.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan penurunan pada berbagai sektor usaha termasuk usaha kecil mikro dan menengah. Bahkan banyak UMKM yang tidak lagi beroperasi dikarenakan pemberlakuan pembatasan kegiatan masyarakat sebagai bentuk upaya pengurangan penyebaran Covid-19. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk membantu UMKM pempek di Kota Palembang dalam mengatasi permasalahan usaha selama pandemi. UMKM Pempek yang menjadi mitra pada kegiatan ini adalah UMKM Pempek Eka. Tahapan kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan melalui dua kegiatan. Tahap pertama yakni perencanaan stok bahan baku, sedangkan yang kedua yakni pemasaran produk melalui media elektronik. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa adanya kegiatan tersebut memberikan keterampilan baru bagi UMKM Pempek Eka. Hal ini terlihat pada evaluasi pengetahuan sebelum dilakukan pelatihan yakni sebesar 45%, dan 80% setelah dilakukan pelatihan dan pendampingan. Selain itu, hasil kegiatan juga terlihat dari meningkatnya produksi pempek sebesar 125% dari sebelum dilakukan pelatihan mengenai perencanaan stok bahan baku dan meningkatnya hasil penjualan sebesar 75% setelah dilakukan pemasaran produk melalui media elektronik. Keberlangsungan UMKM diharapkan dapat menjadi salah satu tiang dalam menopang perekonomian daerah maupun nasional. Abstract:  The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a decline in various business sectors, including small, micro, and medium enterprises. Many MSMEs are no longer operating due to the imposition of restrictions on community activities as an effort to reduce the spread of Covid-19. This activity aims to help Pempek SMEs in Palembang City in overcoming business problems during the pandemic. The Pempek SMEs that are partners in this activity are Pempek Eka SMEs. The stages of service activities are carried out through two activities. The first stage is planning the stock of raw materials, while the second is product marketing through electronic media. The results of the activity show that the existence of these activities provides new skills for Pempek Eka SMEs. This can be seen in the evaluation of knowledge before training, which is 45%, and 80% after training and mentoring. In addition, the results of the activity can also be seen from the increase in pempek production by 125% from before training on raw material stock planning and an increase in sales results by 75% after marketing the product through electronic media. The sustainability of MSMEs is expected to be one of the pillars in supporting the regional and national economy.

Abstract

Waste generated by households can have economic value using the 3R method by the TPS. TPS-3R of the Maju Jaya Self-Help Group (KSM) is a pilot TPS in household waste management in Talang Kelapa Village, Alang-alang Lebar Subdistrict. The products produced are compost, liquid organic fertilizer and handicrafts from used goods. The obstacle faced is ineffective and efficient marketing. This is due to not having the correct label and ineffective marketing. So that assistance is needed in making product labels to be attractive and training in making websites to expand the marketing of processed waste products from TPS-3R KSM Maju Jaya. From the results of this activity, TPS-3R KSM Maju Jaya was able to create a logo that presented the values of TPS-3R KSM Maju Jaya and produced a more attractive product label. In addition, TPS-3R Maju Jaya has a website to increase sales of its products.

Abstract

Environmentalism efforts by performing the household waste management that carried out the 4R (reduce, reuse, recycle, and replace), go green, back to nature. Zero waste concepts must continue to be encouraged and disseminated to the broader community. One of those possible efforts is to convert the organic wastes from the household kitchen into multipurpose liquid garbage enzymes. Garbage enzyme is a liquid containing extract from the fermentation process of the vegetable’s dregs and fruit’s peels, with brown sugar/molasses as a substrate and water as a ripening medium. Fermentation processes proceed for three months and are stored in an airtight container. Garbage enzyme is then used as a liquid cleaner and fertilizer for plants. Siring Agung sub-urban district in Kota Palembang is a densely populated area that has faced a problem of many organic wastes that burden the environment as a result of the overloaded work of garbage dumpsites. Through socialization in the form of a presentation and demonstration of making a multipurpose liquid garbage enzyme, the community in Siring Agung of Palembang city could implement the environmentally-friendly organic waste processing concepts and provide solutions to waste problems in this area. The specific purpose of this community service is to determine the level of public understanding regarding the conversion and utilization of household organic waste and assess the program's benefits in solving problems in this target area. Besides, to reduce the burden of landfills in Palembang city, maintain environmental sustainability, and spread the benefits of garbage enzymes. The analysis results of the public understanding of waste management are 76% understanding after the socialization. This activity has offered an advantage to the community as new applicable knowledge. This activity has provided benefits to the community in the form of new knowledge that can be applied and the reduction of household organic waste, which is a problem in this area. --- Upaya pelestarian lingkungan melalui pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga yang mengusung konsep 4R (reduce, reuse, recycle, dan replace), go green, back to nature, dan zero waste harus terus digalakkan dan disosialiasikan ke masyarakat luas. Salah satu upaya yang mungkin dilakukan adalah dengan mengubah sampah organik dari dapur rumah tangga menjadi cairan multiguna Garbage Enzyme. Garbage enzyme adalah cairan yang berisi ekstrak dari proses fermentasi potongan sayuran sisa dan kulit buahan, yang telah ditambahkan dengan substrat gula merah dan air sebagai media pematangannya. Proses fermentasi dilakukan selama 3 bulan dan disimpan didalam wadah kedap udara. Garbage enzyme yang dihasilkan dimanfaatkan menjadi cairan pembersih dan pupuk cair tanaman. Kelurahan Siring Agung Kota Palembang merupakan wilayah yang padat penduduk yang memiliki permasalahan sampah organik yang mengganggu lingkungan dari beban penampungan sampah yang berlebihan. Melalui sosialisasi dalam bentuk pemaparan dan demo pembuatan cairan multiguna garbage enzyme, masyarakat wilayah Siring Agung Kota Palembang dapat menerapkan konsep pengolahan sampah organik yang ramah lingkungan dan mengatasi permsalahan sampah di wilayahnya. Tujuan khusus dari kegiatan PkM ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman masyarakat mengenai pengkonversian dan pemanfaatan sampah organik rumah tangga serta menilai kebermanfaatan program yang dilaksanakan terhadap penyelesaian masalah yang ada diwilayah sasaran. Selain untuk mengurangi beban tempat pembuangan akhir sampah di Kota Palembang, menjaga kelestarian lingkungan, dan menebarkan manfaat garbage enzyme. Dari hasil analisa tingkat pemahaman masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah didapatkan 76% paham setelah dilakukan sosialisasi. Kegiatan ini telah memberikan manfaat kepada masyarakat berupa pengetahuan baru yang dapat diterapkan dan pengurangan sampah organik rumah tangga yang menjadi permasalahan di wilayah ini.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Jorong Subarang, Kanagarian Paninggahan, Junjung Sirih Suburb, Solok, West Sumatera where JIFRO program has been implemented in that area. The research aims to (1) analyze men and women contribution in terms of productive, reproductive and social activity; (2) analyze gender perception on benefit and cost of managing agroforestry in JIFPro program. A case study method is used in this research. The result shows that men are rarely involved in reproductive activities. Men manage most of their productive activities. On the other hand, women are not only spending more time on reproductive activities but also involved in productive activities. In addition, men and women equally spend their time on social activities.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan kelompok tani dengan sasaran Kelompok Tani Cemerlang Desa Panca Mulya, Kecamatan Air Kumbang, Kabupaten Banyuasin, Sumatera Selatan merupakan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang didanai oleh LPPM Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang melalui skema Bina Desa dengan mengatasi permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh kelompok tani Cemerlang yang berada di Desa Panca Mulya, kecamatan Air Kumbang, Kabupaten Banyuasin antara lain masih rendahnya ketrampilan petani dalam membuat pupuk organik cair denga bahan baku kotoran sapi serta terjadinya kelangkaan pupuk anorganik. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menjawab permasalahan kelompok tani tersebut yaitu dengan kegiatan pelatihan pemanfaatan kotoran sapi sebagai bahan baku pembuatan pupuk organik cair. Pupuk organik cair memanfaatkan sumber daya alam sekitar karena bahan baku yang digunakan relatif banyak di desa tersebut. Dengan adanya kegiatan pemberdayaan kelompok tani ini, anggota kelompok tani Cemerlang Desa Panca Mulya menjadi lebih terampil dan mampu membuat pupuk organik cair.

Abstract

Labels are an important factor in marketing a product, especially organic fertilizer products which have the provisions stipulated in the Minister of Agriculture No. 01 of 2019. This activity aims to provide knowledge about labels on organic fertilizer products and provide assistance in designing organic fertilizer labels. The method of implementing this service is in the form of socializing labels on organic fertilizers and assistance in designing organic fertilizer labels produced by Poktan Cemerlang as partners in this activity. The participants involved were 20 people who were members of the Cemerlang Poktan. The evaluation carried out in this activity was in the form of giving pre-test and post-test questionnaires related to understanding the labeling material on organic fertilizers. The results of this activity showed that there was an increase in participants' understanding of the labeling material for organic fertilizer products, from 24% (pre-test) to 77.5% (post-test). And Poktan Cemerlang has been able to design labels for liquid organic fertilizer products to be produced. However, for legality and distribution licenses that have not been completed on the label, it is hoped that there will be assistance for legality registration and distribution permits for organic fertilizer products so that they can be marketed.

Abstract

Organic waste is waste that contains elements of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and is easily degraded by microorganisms. The existence of abundant fruit and vegetable waste is rarely used by the community, even though this organic waste can still be reused as material for making eco-enzymes. Eco-enzyme is a liquid extract produced from the fermentation of leftover vegetables and fruits with brown sugar or molasses as a substrate. The process for making eco-enzymes is in principle similar to how compost is made, but water is added as a growth medium so that the final product is a liquid that is easy to use and has many benefits. This activity aims to provide knowledge and skills to the community about reusing household organic waste by processing it into eco-enzymes. The location of the community service was carried out in one of the houses of the residents of RT.071 RW.016, 16 Ulu Village, Seberang Ulu II District, Palembang City, on September 4 2021. The method used was counseling and training for the community about processing organic waste into eco-enzymes. This activity was attended by 15 participants who actively conducted discussions. The results of this community service show that the method of service in the form of counseling, training and question and answer is very appropriate in providing motivation to the community in processing household organic waste into eco-enzymes.

Abstract

Tilapia is one of the freshwater fish that has been successfully cultivated by the people of Macang Sakti Village. Tilapia is rich in protein, fat, carbohydrates and other micronutrients that are good for growth and health. However, the high production rate of tilapia is not accompanied by the interest of the local community. This is because people prefer to consume wild freshwater fish obtained from rivers or swamps around. To increase consumer interest in tilapia, innovation is needed in the form of processing tilapia into fish nuggets by empowering women's groups as business actors. This effort also aims to increase family economic income. The location of Community Service was carried out in Macang Sakti Village, Sanga Desa District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, on October 22-26, 2023. The methods used were survey methods, counseling, discussions and demonstrations (practices) of processing tilapia into tilapia nuggets. The implementation of the activity was attended by more than 15 participants from among housewives with great enthusiasm. The results of this community service show that community service activities can increase participants' knowledge about the nutrition and benefits of tilapia and motivate them to actively consume and become entrepreneurs in tilapia processed products in the form of tilapia nuggets.
