Abstract

Tumbuhan sungkai (Paronema canescens Jack)  merupakan salah satu tumbuhan obat tradisional yang telah digunakan  untuk pengobatan berbagai penyakit.  Penggunaan suatu tumbuhan obat harus teruji keamanannya, terutama untuk penggunaan jangka panjang.  Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan uji  toksisitas subkronis ekstrak etanol  daun P. canescens menggunakan  30 ekor tikus  putih jantan Rattus noverticus (Wistar strain), Penelitian ini menggunakan 5 kelompok hewan terdiri dari kelompok kontrol, kelompok perlakuan dosis 100, 200, 400, dan 800 mg/kg berat badan (bb) . Percobaan  dilakukan selama 28 hari. Parameter yang diamati meliputi hematologi darah, biokimia darah, makroskopik organ, berat organ relatif dan histopatologi organ hati dan ginjal. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan  tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan (p>0.05) antara kelompok kontrol dengan kelompok perlakuan untuk semua parameter hematologi maupun biokimia darah.  Analisa histopatologi juga menunjukkan tidak terdapat gejala kerusakan pada organ hati dan ginjal.  Hal ini mengindikasikan ekstrak daun sungkai tidak memberikan efek toksik pada hewan uji.

Abstract

Indralaya Mulya is one of the sub-districts in Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra, about 6 KM from the Sriwijaya Indralaya University campus. In modern life, people's lifestyles tend to be unhealthy due to consuming foods that contain high fat, consuming less vegetables and fruit and relatively lacking sports activities. This will trigger high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia). Various complications can be caused by high levels of cholesterol in the blood, including heart disease. Considering that the condition of high cholesterol levels is commonly found in society, the public has been introduced to the prevention of hypercholesterolemia and reducing the risk of heart disease by consuming health drinks. In this activity, socialization was carried out on the use of traditional medicinal plants (curcuma, guava leaves, sweet starfruit and green betel leaves) to prevent hypercholesterolemia. Furthermore, activity participants' cholesterol levels were also checked. The results of the activity show that the public has great curiosity about the use of medicinal plants to lower cholesterol, the public is relatively aware of the impact of hypercholesterolemia. The results of checking cholesterol levels showed that the participants (20 people) had cholesterol levels in normal conditions. Based on this activity, it was concluded that the people of Indralaya Mulya were relatively in good health and had a high level of concern about maintaining their health.

Abstract

A coumarin derivative namely scopoletin (7-hydroxy-6-methoxychromen-2-one) had been isolated from the methanol extract of unripe noni fruits (Morinda citrifolia Linn.). The extraction was conducted by maceration, continuing with separation and purification using several techniques of chromatography. The yellowish isolated compound showed a melting point at 200 – 202 °C. The compound structure was analyzed based on spectral data 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and NOE 1D. The inhibition of methanol extract of noni fruits and scopoletin against murine leukemia P388 cells using MTT assay showed IC50 were > 100 μg/mL and 65.69 μg/mL respectively. These showed that scopoletin was more cytotoxic than methanol extract but weaker than artonin E as a positive control IC50 0.48 μg/mL)

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan memberikan pelatihan kepada masyarakat, khususnya ibu-ibu dan remaja karang taruna di Desa Tanjung Seteko, Kecamatan Indralaya, Kabupaten Ogan Ilir tentang pembuatan salep herbal dari ekstrak daun Kembang bulan sebagai alternatif pengobatan infeksi kulit. Ekstrak daun Kembang bulan diketahui memiliki kandungan bioaktif yang bersifat antibakteri dan antioksidan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu penyuluhan, pelatihan pembuatan salep, dan pengunaan untuk pengobatan serta evaluasi kegiatan. Khalayak sasaran sebanyak 30 orang. Secara umum, masyarakat telah memahami pentingnya menjaga kesehatan kulit, namun masih belum mengetahui pemanfaatan daun Kembang bulan sebagai bahan pengobatan alami. Setelah kegiatan, tingkat pemahaman peserta mengenai salep herbal dari ekstrak daun Kembang bulan meningkat dari 16,67% sebelum pretes menjadi 90 % setelah postes. Produk salep yang dihasilkan juga mendapatkan tanggapan positif dari peserta. Keberhasilan kegiatan ini turut meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya memanfaatkan bahan alami yang aman dan ramah lingkungan sebagai alternatif pengobatan.

Abstract

A series of N2-acyl salicylic hydrazides (S2-S6) and N-(substituted benzylidene) salicylic hydrazides (S7-S9) were synthesized from 2-hydroxybenzohydrazide (S1), using both microwave irradiation and conventional methods, and tested for its in vitro anticancer activity against human lung cancer cell, A549. The salicylic hydrazides were successfully synthesized in good yields (79–98%) and the in-vitro study results indicated that 3,4-dichloro-N'-(2-hydroxybenzoyl)benzohydrazide (S5) was most active among the tested compounds (IC50 value of 68.75 µM). In this work, we applied an integrated approach combining network pharmacology and computational analysis to explore how salicylic hydrazide derivatives affect tyrosine kinase–related pathways. The in-silico findings were in agreement with the in vitro results, indicating that compound S5 produced a docking score of –6.53468 kcal/mol. The findings of this research are expected to support further development toward identifying promising anticancer drug candidates derived from salicylic hydrazide derivatives.
