Abstract

Peat restoration measures are needed to rehabilitate peat ecosystems. The Peat Restoration Agency (BRG) has implemented peat restoration efforts one of them through rewetting activities within the territory of the Peat Hydrological Unity (KHG). The village of Lukun has burnt and degraded peatlands. With the rewetting of the peat, it is expected that the hydrologically disturbed peat will be improved and the peat will remain in wet conditions so that the degradation rate and potential of peat fires can be prevented. Therefore, the analysis of the peatlands wetting area due to the construction of canal blocking using the water level logger was set up in several dipwells around the canal bloking area. The results of water level logger give a reading in the form of hydrostatic pressure and atmospheric pressure then processed into graphs of groundwater fluctuations. This research showed the results that canal blocking has an impact on ground water level fluctuations as an effort to wet peatlands and the wetting radius that results from canal blocking is less than 100 meters. Besides the canal blocking, the increase in groundwater level is also influenced by rainfall. Keywords: water level logger, groundwater level, canal blocking, peat land wetting.

Abstract

One type of renewable energy is a small-scale hydropower, or often referred to as micro or also called micro hydro power plant (MHP). Microhydro get energy from water flow that has a certain height difference and flow velocity. The energy generated by physical model waterwheel is a renewable energy can be measured by using a digital torque tester is connected to the axis windmill models. High rotation speed does not necessarily have a great energy because if given half the load will greatly affect the rotation speed. This research is to develop the technology, materials, mechanical components, electronic component and system design of energy resources, so as to have a strategic impact on the development of technology and can be applied in the community. Wheel rotation measurement using rpm tachometer generates value that affects the value of the energy generated from the windmill. The model used is Undershot wheel.Keyword : PLTMH, Torque Tester, Rpm, Undershot

Abstract

Abrasion and sedimentation are events that usually arise due to the movement and accumulation of material carried by ocean currents. Severe damage occurred in coastal areas such as on Bengkalis Island. Research on the initial motion of grains, especially on peat material, is very interesting to study. This study aims to analyze the relationship between flow velocity and grain diameter at the beginning of the movement of peat material grains. The initial motion of the peat material will be compared with the movement of the sand material. Modeling to analyze the initial motion of the grains on peat soil using Armfield Sediment Transport Demonstration Channel as flume. The flume velocity was varied starting from the lowest and symbolized by U, namely 1-7 (U=0.009890.10112 m/s) speed for peat material, and 4-10 (U=0.03973-0.18900 m/s) speed for sand material. The results showed that peat material experienced easier grain movement than sand material. This is due to the smaller spesific gravity of peat than sand. Proven based on the shield graph, the results of the critical shear stress on the sand sample No. 10 is below the shield graph, and on the peat material No. 10 is above the shield chart. Based on visual observations on peat sediments, it is found that the movement starts from the type of laminar flow, while in the sand sediments there is movement in the type of turbulent flow. Keywords : peat, flow velocity, initial motion, critical shear stress, shield graphic

Abstract

Undershot water wheel is appropriate technologies that raise the water level elevation of the river which was originally low for irrigation purposes with low cost. The water wheel is generally used in agricultural areas that do not get technical irrigation network. Water capacity capable be appointed the waterwheel is relatively low when compared with technical irrigation but the capacity could be increased if the factors affecting debits lifter of water can be optimized. These factors are the blades, the debit of flow, the position of box, the amount and type of box. The purpose of the research determines the dimensions of blade effective and debit of flow optimum which produces a maximum of debits lifter water. Research conducted in the laboratory to do the testing on the model undershot waterwheel. Model waterwheel was created in such a manner resembling a waterwheel in the field without scale models. Testing is done by varying the dimensions of the blade is the blade size of 6 cm × 4.5 cm, 6 cm × 6 cm and 6 cm × 7.5 cm, and then the flow rate is 3.07 l / sec, 3.8 l / sec and 5,99 l / sec and amount of box is 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 as well as the type of box that is type 1 (small size), type 2 (medium size) and type 3 (large size). The results showed the number of boxes 36 with a box type 3 in spoon size of 6 cm × 6 cm to debit of flow 5,99 l / sec produce maximum of debits lifter water that is equal to 38,17 ml /sec. It can be concluded dimention of spoon effective is the size of 6 cm × 6 cm and debit of flow that optimum is 5,99 l / sec. Keywords: undershot water wheel, dimension of blade, debit of flow

Abstract

Peatland fire often occur in Indonesia. One of the causes was because of the ground water level (GWL) decreased due to many canals. Some efforts that can be done are by rehabilitating peat’s ecosystems. The Peat Restoration Agency (BRG) has implemented a peat restoration effort, such as rewetting activities (rewetting of peatlands) by building canal blocks. Dompas village is a peat area and has the potential to experience a fire during the dry season. The installation of canals were expected to increase the peat water level in accordance with the provisions of less or equal to 40 cm from the ground surface. In this study the analysis of the impact of canal blocking was using Deep well media to determine changes in peat water level due to canal blocking. Four deep wells were installed at 4 transects, and each transect had 4 deep wells installed with the provisions of 1 transect downstream and 3 transects upstream. The analysis was carried out before and after the canal was blocked to find out how much influence the canal blocking had on wetting the peat land. The installation of canals in this study was able to raise the GWL by 10 cm to 21 cm with a wetting distance further than 75 meters from the canal. Keywords : peatland fires, rewetting, canal blocking, deep well.
