Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning and function of proverbs (parables) in Surah Al-Baqarah as an instrument for fostering Islamic morals. Proverbs in the Qur’an are one of the communicative and pedagogical methods used to convey moral and spiritual values concretely, so that the moral messages can be understood deeply and applied in daily life. Surah Al-Baqarah was chosen because it contains various parables rich in ethical and theological meanings, such as the parable of the hypocrites, the one who spends wealth ostentatiously, and the parable of the fly, which illustrates human weakness before Allah's power. The approach in this study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with library research through thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that proverbs in Surah Al-Baqarah function as instruments of moral education that guide humans toward the values of sincerity, patience, honesty, trustworthiness, and reliance on God. Proverbs also serve as a means of spiritual reflection that fosters awareness of the relationship between humans and God as well as with others. This study emphasizes that exploring Quranic proverbs has significant relevance in the development of contemporary Islamic character education and can be used as a conceptual model in moral guidance within Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

The science of Munasabah is a branch of Qur'anic jurisprudence that examines the interconnectedness and harmony of meaning between verses and suras in the Quran. This study aims to analyze the contribution of the science of Munasabah to the consistency of the da'wah message in the Makkiyah Surahs, particularly regarding key themes such as monotheism, prophecy, and the Day of Resurrection. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with library research methods. Data were collected through a review of classical and contemporary tafsir books, as well as the latest scientific literature relevant to the concept of munasabah and Qur'anic da'wah. The analysis was conducted thematically to identify patterns of verse relationships and meaning structures that reinforce the da'wah message. The results show that the science of Munasabah plays a crucial role in maintaining the coherence and unity of the da'wah theme in the Makkiyah Surahs. The logical interconnectedness between verses creates a continuous argumentation that reinforces the message of monotheism and the faith of Muslims in the early days of the prophethood. Munasabah also proves that the Qur'anic revelation is systematically structured and free from contradictions, allowing the message of da'wah to be conveyed rationally, persuasively, and contextually. Thus, the science of al-Munasabah not only reveals the miraculous aspects and rhetorical beauty of the Qur'an but also strengthens the effectiveness of Islamic da'wah as a complete and continuous system of theological communication.

Abstract

This study examines the process of Jam‘ul Qur’an during the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions, focusing on the historical context of revelation, the system of collection, and the authenticity of the mushaf. The findings show that the codification of the Al-Qur’an began gradually during the Prophet’s lifetime rather than after his death. This process operated through the institution of revelation, with the Prophet as the authoritative recipient, Gabriel as the transmitter, the kuttāb al-wahy as scribes, and the companions’ collective memorization as guardians of oral transmission. During the era of the Khulafā’ ar-Rāshidīn, codification progressed through two major phases that is the initial compilation of the mushaf under Abu Bakar as-Ṣiddīq and the standardization of the text under ‘Utsmān bin ‘Affān. Using qualitative methods and both classical and contemporary literature, the study affirms the Al-Qur’an’s authenticity through dual transmission channels mutawātir memorization and written documentation. Unlike earlier studies that emphasize a single codification period, this research provides a historical synthesis across phases and connects modern textual criticism with the epistemology of Islamic revelation. It concludes that the Al-Qur’an used today is an authentic continuation of the ‘Utsmānī codex, whose integrity has been preserved throughout history.

Abstract

One form of divine education for humans is realized through the stories told in the Koran. The story of Ashabul Kahf is part of the Qur'anic narrative which is full of values of faith, steadfast principles, and divine protection for a group of young people who maintain monotheism amidst the pressures of an infidel environment. This research aims to reveal the thematic meaning of the story of Ashabul Kahf through a maudhu'i (thematic) tafsir approach, by tracing the verses of the QS. Al-Kahf: 9–26 and examines various interpretations from classical and contemporary scholars such as Ibn Kathir, Al-Maraghi, and M. Quraish Shihab. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive method, with data collection techniques through literature studies that examine various relevant academic literature sources. The research results show that the story of Ashabul Kahf contains the main message about steadfastness of faith (tsabat al-iman), moral courage, and total surrender to Allah as a form of pure monotheism. This story also affirms God's power over time and human life, while also reflecting that God's protection and help will always accompany His faithful and consistent servants. The story's relevance in the contemporary context is evident in efforts to foster the character of the younger generation of Muslims, ensuring they remain steadfast in the values of faith and integrity amidst the challenges of modernity

Abstract

This article examines the systematization of the writing of the Qur’an by analyzing the processes of revelation recording, manuscript compilation, and the standardization of the consonantal text in relation to the stability of the Qur’anic text. The study aims to reconstruct the mechanisms of transmission, verification, and canonization of the Qur’an by integrating classical Islamic accounts with contemporary philological and manuscript studies. This research employs a historical and philological approach through the analysis of classical sources on Qur’anic sciences combined with evidence from early Qur’anic manuscripts and modern paleographic studies. The findings indicate that the systematization of the Qur’an developed through a layered process involving oral and written traditions simultaneously, rather than a single act driven by political motives alone. The standardization of the manuscript during the caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan played a crucial role in maintaining the consistency of the consonantal text and textual structure. This discussion confirms that the stability of the Qur’anic text from the early period to the present is the result of a controlled and verified codification process.
