Abstract

Questioning is a form of communication that supports learning. Questions asked during learning process can be used to evaluate students’ understanding on certain concepts. Through questioning, an educator can direct students to think and get involved in learning activities. However, asking good questions for cognitive functions is difficult. Low response from students discourages the educator to either ask or give more questions during the teaching and learning process. In this writing, types of questions, functions of questions, aims of questions, and questioning techniques are discussed. This article further provides sample questions in learning science.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to create integrated augmented reality learning media in the form of an application that focuses on the acid base material in the F phase or senior high school phase. Along with the development of the world of education, various kinds of new learning media have emerged. One of the interesting technologies that can currently be developed on Android is Augmented Reality (AR). Augmented Reality is considered one of the most advanced technologies in virtual reality research and is effective as a learning medium, especially chemistry. Augemented Reality is a technology that combines the real world with a computer-generated virtual world so that the boundaries between the two worlds are very minimal. Because of its advantages, AR can be used to create learning applications that can support the teaching and learning process. One lesson that can utilize this technology is chemistry learning about acids and bases. This application was created with Blender 3D software to create 3D acid base objects, Easy AR and Unity 3D to build applications. This media design was adopted by the Plomp development media. Where the design of this media is in accordance with the needs of schools which expect learning media to contain animation and be guided by questions that can guide students in discovering concepts. It is hoped that this learning application can be used at school and outside school as a support in learning chemistry, especially acids and bases.

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) technology allows interaction between the real world and objects in the virtual world in a three-dimensional form. With these advantages, AR will be a learning media that can increase students' enthusiasm for learning chemistry, especially on abstract chemistry concepts, and require the right learning media to visualize them. This type of research is Educational Design Research with the Plomp development model. The subjects of this study are UNP chemistry lecturers, chemistry teachers, and students at three senior high schools in Sumatera Barat. The object of this study is an augmented reality integrated learning media. The research instruments used were a needs analysis questionnaire, a validity test questionnaire, and a practicality test questionnaire. The data analysis technique uses the Aiken'V formula. The study results show that the developed learning media is included in the valid and practical categories with the validity values of content, construction, and quality respectively being 0.87; 0,85; and 0.85. Meanwhile, teachers' and students' average practicality score index results were 0.97 and 0.92. Thus, the learning media integrated with augmented reality technology in the chemistry concept for the E phase of SMA/MA chemistry has been successfully developed, validated, and practically used in learning.

Abstract

This research is a follow-up Research and Deevelopment (R&D) using the 4-D as the instructional model. The practicality and effectivity were obtained through research instruments is practicality questionnaire and formative test. Practicality was carried out by 10 students of class XII MIPA and two chemistry teachers at SMAN 5 Tebo, while effectivity was carried out by 28 students of class XI MIPA 3 SMAN 5 Tebo. The results of analysis on practicality data showed value of 90% (for teacher practicality) and 87% (for students practicality) both showing very practical category. The result of analysis on effectivity data showed the N-Gain value of 0,78 which was categorized as high, and the hypothesis test using the paired sample t-test showed that the learning outcomes of students after being given treatment were significantly higher than before being given treatment. Therefore, PowerPoint-iSpring learning media that integrates multiple representation and prompting questions based on guided discovery learning is practical and effective for the learning outcomes of students in class XI MIPA SMAN 5 Tebo.
