Abstract

Processing chocolate from dried cocoa beans to become a ready-to-eat chocolate paste involves a long process, including separating the cocoa oil from the flour. The separation process is mechanized using a press machine with high pressure at a certain temperature level. However, a press machine deals with obstacles prone to failure and damage. This study aims to analyze the causes of the chocolate pressing machine's failure using hydraulic pressure and find alternative repair solutions. The cylinder of the machine press is made of stainless steel material and has a cylindrical geometry with a diameter of 23 mm and a tube length of 30 cm. Failure analysis is carried out by observing the machine's operating conditions, the procedure for its use, and the load imposed on the machine, including, in this case, the service life to date. Observations were also made on the form of failure, the type of damage, and each component's function. Thus, based on the data obtained and relates to the theoretical theory, the conditions that should occur are obtained. The study results showed that the damages occurred, such as press tube damage, deformed fins, clogged gaps between fins, worn support rods, corroded threads, worn and stiff seals, and bearing damage to rupture. More damage was caused by the tilted position of the machine so that it didn't move the flashlight anymore. The part of the machine must be repaired flat based on standard procedures operation and carry out periodic checks on machine components.

Abstract

Mesin penyuir daging dirancang dan dibuat dengan skala UMKM untuk diimplementasikan di salah satu UMKM pembuatan abon ikan. Ketersedian ikan dalam jumlah banyak hasil tangkapan pelayan berpotensi dikembangkan untuk produksi abom. Rancangan dibuat menggunakan aplikasi Autodesk untuk memudahkan dalam marakit komponen-komponen mesin penyuir daging ikan. Sedangkan pembuatan dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan kegunaan dan funggsi. Rangka dibuat menggunakan besi hollow untuk mempertimbangak kekuatan sedangkan bak penampungan dibuat menggunakan pelat aluminium agar terhindar dari kontaminasi bahan terhadap daging ikat. Hasil rancangan dan pembuatan menunjukan bahwa mesin penyuir daging ikan dapat berfungsi dengan baik, dimana daya motor adalah sebesar ½ hp dan kecepatan putaran 1400 rpm. Hasil suwiran dating ikan menunjukan ukuran yang seragam sehingga dapat dikatakan lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pembuatan dilakukan secara manual.

Abstract

Desa Suka Agung Barat merupakan salah satu Desa yang memiliki potensi ekonomi yang besar di Kecamatan Bulok Kabupaten Tanggamus. Beberapa komoditas yang dihasilkan diantaranya adalah pepaya, pisang, dan kakao. Disamping sebagai petani, sebagian besar penduduk berternak kambing sebagai salah satu sumber penghasilan keluarga. Kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat menyebabkan mereka belum mampu menciptakan ketahanan ekonomi Desa. Tujuan dari program pemberdayaan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pengurus Bumdes dan wirausaha baru dalam mengelola usaha. Program pemberdayaan ini mencakup kegiatan penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan pendampingan selama selama bulan Agustus dan September 2020. Materi yang diberikan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi manajemen usaha usaha kecil, manajemen keuangan, manajemen pemasaran dan manajemen usaha ternak kambing. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pemberdayaan telah berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta sebesar 94,96% dan terdapat 3 (tiga) peserta yang sudah menerapkan pembukuan dalam usahanya.

Abstract

Fossil energy is running low, causing an increase in the selling price of fossil fuels. This causes the global community to become aware and consider using renewable fuels which are more environmentally friendly. Utilizing nutmeg refining waste into biopellets can be a solution for managing waste and producing alternative fuel. This research focuses on utilizing nutmeg refining waste into biopellets with a mixture of 0%, 3% and 5% tapioca flour using an extruder machine with engine rotation speeds of 1700 RPM and 2800 RPM. The aim of this research is to determine the composition of the adhesive mixture and the engine rotation speed to obtain optimal heating value. The materials in this research were solid waste from nutmeg distillation and tapioca as adhesive. Making biopellets uses 2 treatments, namely 3 variations of adhesive mixture (0 gram, 90 grams, 150 grams) and 2 variations of machine rotation speed (1700 RPM and 2800 RPM). Meanwhile, the tools used are a pellet printing machine, tachometer, digital balance and caloribomb. The results obtained from testing the calorific value in this study were sample A 5,094.27 cal/g, Sample B 5,603.14 cal/g, Sample C 5,346.24 cal/g, Sample D 5,604.85, Sample E 5,789.10 cal/g, Sample F 5,571.65. So it can be concluded that the addition of adhesive and the engine rotation speed on the extruder machine affect the heating value obtained. Abstract

Mie aci tepung singkong merupakan olahan makanan yang terbuat dari saripati umbi tanaman singkong. Salah satu proses pembuatannya adalah proses pencetakan Mie dengan  sistem press. Proses pengepresan Mie yang dilakukan kebanyakan menggunakan cara tradisional yang dinilai sangatlah sulit dan juga tidak efektif. Oleh karena itu dibuatlah inovasi alat pencetak Mie aci dengan menggunakan sistem press hidrolik, yang diharapkan dapat membuat proses pencetakan Mie lebih mudah dan efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji kinerja serta mengetahui cara kerja dari alat pencetak Mie aci singkong hidrolik yang digunakan sebagai inovasi untuk mengoptimalkan proses pencetakan pada pembuatan Mie aci singkong. Pengujian ini dilakukan di Tiyuh Pulung Kencana, Kecamatan Tulang Bawang Tengah, Kabupaten Tulang Bawang Barat, Provinsi Lampung. Proses pengujian dari performa alat pencetak Mie aci singkong hidrolik dimulai dengan menyiapkan alat dan bahan yang akan dibutuhkan dalam pengujian, kemudian melakukan proses pengujian dan pengambilan data. Pada proses selanjutnya yaitu proses menganalisa data sekaligus membandingkan kinerja alat pencetak Mie aci singkong dengan sistem press hidrolik dan alat pencetak Mie aci singkong dengan sistem manual. Alat pencetak Mie aci singkong dengan sistem press hidrolik meMieliki ukuran dimensi yang lebih kecil dan tidak memakan tempat dimana tinggi dari alat pencetak hidrolik sebesar 130,7 cm dan lebarnya yaitu 100 cm. Selanjutnya kapasitas produksi  alat pencetak Mie hidrolik sebesar 6 gg dalam setiap kal pencetakan Mie.  Waktu cetak yang dibutuhkan alat lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan konvensional, dimana  hasil cetakannya lebih seragam.

Abstract

Abstrak         Pada komponen medis harus memiliki bentuk presisi, produk presisi pada dunia medis harus memiliki ketahan korosi dan kuat, salah satu jenis material yang digunakan dalam pembuatan komponen medis adalah titanium. Titanium dan paduannya merupakan jenis material yang digunakan dalam implan tulang dikarenakan memiliki sifat biocompatible dan resistensi korosi yang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari pengaruh dari polishing terhadap kepresisian dan kehalusan permukaan ulir kortikal. Polishing merupakan jenis metode pemolesan yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini dan material yang digunakan adalah Ti-6Al-4V ELI. Parameter pemolesan yang digunakan adalah putaran spindel 1000, 1200, dan 1400 rpm, waktu sebesar 90, 100, dan 110 menit, dan serbuk yaitu porang, pasir silika,  dan abu gosok. Kepresisian geometri ulir dapat dilihat melalui pengukuran kesalahan sudut α dan kesalahan sudut β menggunakan profile projector dan kehalusan permukaan ulir dapat dilihat melalui scanning electron microscope. Pada penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa  polishing berpengaruh pada parameter putaran spindel terhadap kesalahan sudut β dan serbuk berpengaruh terhadap kesalahan sudut α. Hasil scanning electron microscope menampilkan bahwa polishing dapat meningkatkan kehalusan permukaan ulir serta pengurangan dimensi pada baut ulir. Penggunaan serbuk dengan kesalahan terkecil dalam penelitian ini adalah abu gosok, abu gosok terbukti memiliki pengaruh kecil terhadap pemolesan. Selain itu abu gosok lebih ekonomis dibandingkan dengan porang dan pasir silika.

Abstract

Titanium alloy material Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Extra Low Interstitial) is a type of alloy that has very similar properties to Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) alloy, which is the most widely used material, but only differs in terms of properties. his tenacity. Ti-6Al-4V ELI has higher ductility and better fracture toughness. In addition, this material also has a good ability to work at high temperatures without losing its main properties. The main properties of this material are corrosion toughness at high temperatures and excellent weight to strength ratio. Referring to these advantages, the alloy material of the Ti-6Al-4V ELI type has been developed in many fields including the field of planting materials in the medical field, the aircraft industry, applications in the field of military weapons, the manufacture of racing vehicle components and also high pressure vessels for storing materials. low-temperature (cryogenic) liquid nitrogen [16].. During the machining process of titanium alloy, many things become obstacles because this material is a material that is difficult to machine. This is because the titanium alloy has high hardness, there is often a reaction between the cutting tool and the workpiece material during the cutting process, and there is an accumulation of high temperatures in the cutting area. Factors cutting speed and feed rate are the two dominant factors on the formation of cutting tool wear, both wear on the face or crater side. Damage to the cutting tool is also followed by damage to the surface of the workpiece being machined or the surface quality of the workpiece. The dominant wear that occurs in the rib face area is wear due to adhesion, notch wear, while wear in the crater area is diffusion that occurs during the machining process. Meanwhile, the cutting temperature has a direct impact on the surface quality of the workpiece being machined. The factor of high cutting speed with low feed rate is a combination of factors that provide good cutting force. Meanwhile, insert type cutting tools that have a hard coating, such as TiN, TiAlN and TiCrN play a significant role in the formation of tool wear. Likewise, hard coated tools provide better performance compared to uncoated insert tools. Machining with the Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) method gives better results compared to dry machining and machining using flooded cooling.Keywords: machining, Ti-6Al-4V ELI, cutting tool, materials.

Abstract

Porang tubers contain glucomannan, which has health benefits for the human body. However, glucomannan also contains calcium oxalate, which is toxic. A Hammer-Disc mill (HDM) machine was used to separate glucomannan and calcium oxalate, categorized as a mechanical process. This study aims to optimize the parameters of the Hammer-Disc Mill machine for producing glucomannan flour by using the Taguchi Method. The selected parameters are the mass of the porang chip, motor rotation speed, and the distance of the hammer blades. The Taguchi Method was used to design an experiment using the Orthogonal Array L9 (3 factors, 3 levels). In this study, statistical analysis was carried out using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine each parameter's effect on glucomannan production. The glucomannan granules were taken using a screener of 60-80 mesh. The results show that the input mass parameter of porang chips significantly affects the glucomannan produced, which, F calculating 10,91 was more than f Table 5,41. The contribution of mass input of porang chips in percentage is 85.36%. Based on the results of the best response, the optimal condition for the production of glucomannan flour is to use a mass of 1 kg of porang chip input (level 3), motor rotation speed of 3000 rpm (level 3), and hammer spacing of 1 cm (level 3). By optimizing this parameter it is expected to increase the yield of glucomannan produced by the Hammer-Disc Mill machine.

Abstract

The cutting of magnesium alloy by using a single cutting method as known by turning process. In the machining process, the cutting tool used in long time will experience wear and damage. The tool wear on the cutting edge was caused by cutting force that took place during cutting process. The cutting force depend one tool geometry, workpiece material, tool material and cutting condition. The objective of this research is to analyze the cutting force during turning process using the cutting force measurement. In this experiment, the cutting tool used of High Speed Steel, workpiece material of magnesium alloy and strain gauge sensor to measure cutting force. The results show that the spindle speed and cutting speed influenced on cutting force, in which increasing in spindle speed and cutting speed produced low cutting force. Whereas, increasing in feed rate and depth of cut significant effect on increasing the cutting.force

Abstract

Cassava flour or tapioca flour is one of the types of cassava products that has been widely developed as the main raw material for producing wet tapioca noodles. The village of Pulung Kencana in West Tulang Bawang Regency has local wisdom in the form of processed food products, such as tapioca noodles produced from cassava flour. Cassava flour is obtained from the result of tapioca or the sediment of grated cassava, which is dried for some time until it reaches a moisture content of 12%. The drying process is done naturally and highly depends on sunlight, sometimes hindered during periods without heat. Therefore, a drying tool is created using a homemade heater fueled by gas or firewood. The hot air in the pipe is blown into the drying chamber, which functions to dry the flour placed in tiers. The air moves from the bottom to the higher racks, allowing the heat to be used gradually. The drying chamber's capacity can dry 30 kg in one drying session, within 8 hours, achieving a moisture content of 12%. When using LPG, it requires 8 hours. The drying results show that the moisture content is 12%, meeting the required conditions
