Abstract

Introduction: The implementation of the Indonesian National Nursing Competency Test (INNCT) has faced several challenges, especially related to the low pass rate. The pass rate has decreased over time, but the number of examinees has increased. The aim of this study was to evaluate the nursing schools’ performance in INNCT using the Context Input Process Product (CIPP) evaluation model.Methods: A quantitative description was used in this study. The Performance Evaluation of Nursing Program Questionnaire based on CIPP was developed and used to collect the data.  The participants in this study were faculty members and alumni from the nursing schools that were a member of AINEC within region V. The variables of this study were the nursing school pass rate and the school’s performance.Results: 320 participants were involved in this study. The passing rate of the nursing school in INNCT was in the moderate category. The CIPP evaluation shows that out of the four aspects, there were two (2) aspects, namely “context and input” that were in the category of having met the requirements and two (2) aspects, namely “process and product”, were in the category exceeding the requirements.Conclusion: Nursing schools have fulfilled the government regulation based on the CIPP evaluation and the nursing schools need to make a strategic plan to improve their performance and to increase their pass rate in INNCT.

Abstract

  Evaluation in the first semester showed that there are 51 students of ETP batch 2013 who have to follow the matriculation program, seven students quitted the program, and five students from ETP batch 2014 were dropped out for violating academic rules. The mentorship program started in the Academic Year of 2013/2014 on its Even Semester. The evaluation for mentorship program has not been done within the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Pelita Harapan. Objective: to identify the mentor’s and mentee’s perception about the mentorship program. Methods: The study design is descriptive quantitative study. The samples are 52 mentors and 314 mentees. The instrument is questionnaires in the form of self-report questionnaire. The data analyzed using the univariate method. Results: 38 mentors (73.08%) and 208 mentees (66.24%) that mentorship program can increase knowledge in learning, 29 mentors (55.77%) and 165 mentees (52.55%) agree that improve collaboration with others. 20 mentors (83.33%) and 85 mentees (88.54%) from 24 mentors and 96 mentees that intend to leave campus agree that mentorship program can increase influence to remain in on-campus accommodation. Discussions: It is expected that the mentorship program can be developed better, specifically for the mentor recruitment program and the ongoing training for mentors.

Abstract

The implementation of the Indonesian National Nursing Competency Test faces several challenges, especially those associated with low passing rates. Low passing rates are a concern of all nursing schools because they reflect the quality of the institution. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors predicting success on the Indonesia National Nursing Competency Test. The research design was descriptive correlational. Participants in the study were 201 alumni of the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Indonesia. Statistical tests showed a significant correlation between academic achievement (academic stage GPA, professional stage GPA, English proficiency score, and tryout) and the national competency test, while demographic data showed no significant correlation. Academic achievement plays a significant role in success on the Indonesian National Nursing Competency Test.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Pelaksanaan Uji Kompetensi Nasional Perawat Indonesia menghadapi banyak tantangan terutama berakitan dengan rendahnya tingkat kelulusan. Tingkat kelulusan yang rendah menjadi perhatian dari semua institusi pendidikan keperawatan karena hal ini menjadi potret dari institusi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menjelaskan faktor-faktor prediksi keberhasilan dalam Uji Kompetensi Nasional Perawat Indonesia. Design penelitian menggunakan deskripsi korelasi. Partisipan penelitian adalah alumni Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Pelita Harapan Indonesia sejumlah 201. Uji statistic menunjukan korelasi yang signifikan antara hasil bidang akademik (IPK tahap akademik, IPK tahap profesi, nilai kemampuan bahasa Inggris, dan try out) dengan  uji kompetensi test, sedangkan data demografi tidak menunjukan korelasi yang signifikan. Pencapaian bidang akademik memiliki peran signifikan didalam keberhasilan pada Uji Kompetensi Nasional Perawat Indonesia.

Abstract

Mentoring is a relationship between someone who has more experience and someone who has less. The literature shows that a mentoring program can enhance the academic success and character development of an individual. A mentoring program started in the school of nursing at UPH in 2013-2014 and it was a new experience for the students. The purpose of this study is to describe the benefits of the mentoring program. The research design is a qualitative descriptive study. The number of participants in the study were 17 mentors and 34 mentees. Narrative qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. The results of the mentors content analysis of the benefits of the program revealed three themes: joint learning, effective communication skills, and caring for others. The results of the narrative data analysis of the mentees produced three themes: mutual respect, kinship, and effective academic learning. Based on this research, it is hoped that the mentoring program can be further developed, especially in the areas of ongoing recruitment and training of mentors.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Mentoring adalah suatu hubungan antara seseorang yang lebih berpengalaman dengan seseorang yang kurang pengalamannya. Literatur menunjukkan bahwa program mentoring akan memberikan dukungan untuk kesuksesan akademik dan pengembangan karakter diri. Program mentoring mulai dilaksanakan pada semester genap 2013-2014 dan merupakan hal yang baru untuk mahasiswa. Perlu untuk mengetahui gambaran program mentoring dalam bentuk data naratif. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menggambarkan manfaat dari program mentoring. Desain penelitian adalah studi deskriptif kualitatif. Jumlah partisipan dalam penelitian adalah 17 mentor dan 34 mentee. Data kualitatif naratif dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis isi. Hasil analisis data naratif dari mentor tentang manfaat program mentoring menghasilkan tiga tema yaitu belajar bersama, keterampilan komunikasi yang efektif, dan rasa peduli kepada orang lain. Hasil analisis data naratif dari mentee tentang manfaat program mentoring menghasilkan tiga tema yaitu saling menghormati, rasa kekeluargaan, dan pembelajaran akademik yang efektif. Diharapkan program mentoring dapat dikembangkan lebih baik lagi khususnya untuk program perekrutan dan pelatihan yang berkelanjutan bagi mentor.

Abstract

These days, things are developing rapidly, especially in the field of education. One of developments is in the use of technology in education. Online learning is one of important technology-based learning methods in today's world that requires people to do learning activities from home through online learning. The Covid-19 pandemic requires all fields including Education to implement online learning to prevent transmission. The objective of the study was to determine the relationship between online learning satisfaction level on Nursing Theory and Practice course and nursing student academic achievement. This study employed quantitative correlation. The research population is 335 active students Faculty of Nursing Universitas Pelita Harapan batch 2019. Purposive sampling technique and Solvin’s formula were used in this study which involved 185 students. The results show that there is a significant and unidirectional relationship between the level of online learning satisfaction and student learning outcomes (p=0,001). Most students have a level of satisfaction of Nursing Theory and Practice online subjects (68%), with an average learning achievement (final grade) of 81.40. Student satisfaction with online learning methods is related to academic achievement, the higher the level of student learning satisfaction the better students’ academic achievement.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Belakangan ini, banyak hal berkembang dengan pesat, terutama di bidang pendidikan. Salah satu perkembangan tersebut adalah dalam hal penggunaan teknologi dalam pendidikan. Online learning merupakan salah satu metode belajar berbasis teknologi yang penting dalam keadaan dunia sekarang yang mengharuskan kegiatan pembelajaran dilakukan dari rumah melalui pembelajaran online. Pandemi Covid-19 menuntut semua bidang termasuk pendidikan untuk menerapkan pembelajaran online untuk mencegah penularan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat kepuasaan pembelajaran online pada mata kuliah Nursing Theory and Practice dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa keperawatan. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuantitatif korelasional. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa aktif Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Pelita Harapan angkatan 2019 berjumlah 335 mahasiswa. Tehnik purposive sampling dan rumus Slovin diterapkan dalam penelitian ini dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 185 mahasiswa. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan dan searah antara tingkat kepuasan pembelajaran online dengan hasil belajar mahasiswa (p=0,001). Sebagian besar mahasiswa memiliki tingkat kepuasan terhadap pembelajaran Nursing Theory and Practice online (68%), dengan rata-rata prestasi belajar (nilai akhir) 81,40. Kepuasan mahasiswa akan metode pembelajaran online berhubungan dengan prestasi akademik, semakin tinggi tingkat kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran menunjukkan semakin baik prestasi akademik yang dicapai mahasiswa.

Abstract

Population of elderly worldwide is growing rapidly include ing in Indonesia. This triggers increased health issues such as depression. But, the literature is lacking on more evidence on age as the risk factors of elderly depression. Hence the study aimed to investigate age as one of the risk factors for elderly depression. The purpose of this study was to compare depression levels between two life-stage subgroups: young-old (65-74 years old) and old-old (75-84 years old) group at nursing home in Banten area. This was a quantitative study with comparative cross-sectional design, which included a total of 40 elderly respondents. Data was analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test The study results showed that there was no significant difference on depression level between the two life-stage subgroups (p-value= 0.381).One possible factors which effected the study results may be protective factors such as family supports, socioeconomics status, engeagement in social activities and religious or spiritula involvement. The further research needed to explore more on the risk factors and protective factors related to elderly depression.

Abstract

Remaja merupakan masa dimana terjadinya pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang pesat baik secara fisik, psikologis maupun intelektual. Remaja merupakan salah satu kelompok vulnerable dalam tatanan masyarakat. Mereka memiliki aktivitas yang dinamis, namun kadang tidak diimbangi dengan istirahat serta pola makan yang teratur. Upacara bendera merupakan kegiatan wajib dilaksanakan guna meningkatkan rasa nasionalisme sejak dini dan di mulai di lingkungan sekolah. Akan tetapi masalah yang cukup sering terjadi saat upacara bendera di sekolah adalah ada siswa/i yang jatuh pingsan. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan upaya pencegahan dan penanganan awal pada siswa/i yang pingsan kepada guru pembina UKS, OSIS, Pramuka dan para siswa/i. Permasalahan mitra kegiatan ini adalah adanya siswa/i yang pingsan saat upacara bendera. Solusi untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dengan melakukan edukasi dan pelatihan mengenai pertolongan pertama pada siswa/i pingsan di sekolah tersebut. Kegiatan PKM ini dilaksanakan di SMP Binong Permai, Tangerang pada tanggal 15 November 2017 dalam bentuk pemberian edukasi kesehatan bagi siswa/i dengan metode ceramah dan pelatihan pertolongan pertama bagi guru, siswa pengurus OSIS dan Pramuka dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 161 partisipan yang terdiri dari guru 2,48%, siswa kelas VII 45,34%, siswa kelas VIII 29,81%,siswa kelas IX 22,36%. Hasil kegiatan ini didapatkan nilai rata-rata (mean) pretest pengetahuan mengenai pertolongan pertama pada kondisi pingsan sebelum pelatihan adalah 66,77 dan rata-rata posttest adalah 80,87. Maka dapat disimpulkan, secara statistik ada perbedaan yang bermakna antara rata-rata pengetahuan para peserta sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan (p value 0,001). Data hasil pretest dan posttest terevaluasi adanya peningkatan nilai rata-rata namun dari perhitungan selisih nilai posttest dan pretest, terdapat 9 orang yang nilai posttest lebih rendah daripada pretest.

Abstract

Remaja merupakan masa dimana terjadinya pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang pesat baik secara fisik, psikologis maupun intelektual. Remaja merupakan salah satu kelompok vulnerable dalam tatanan masyarakat, mereka memiliki aktivitas yang dinamis, namun kadang tidak diimbangi dengan istirahat serta pola makan yang teratur. Banyaknya aktifitas yang dilakukan oleh siswa/i di sekolah membuat mereka mudah mengalami jatuh sakit dan cidera. Hal yang paling sering dilakukan oleh anak usia remaja saat di sekolah adalah olah raga, upacara bendera, dan aktifitas lainnya. Masalah yang dihadapai Unit Kesehatan Sekolah (UKS) SMP Pahoa Terpadu Gading Serpong Tangerang adalah jatuh, fraktur, trauma kepala, dan pingsan. PkM FoN meningkatkan pemahaman dan ketrampilan dalam pertolongan pertama tanggap darurat pada anggota PMR di sekolah tersebut. Tujuan PKM ini agar ada pencegahan dan penanganan awal yang dapat dilakukan anggota PMR pada siswa/I. SMP Pahoa dipilih sebagai partner dalam PKM ini karena dilihat dari aksesabilitas adalah mudah dijangkau selain itu FoN UPH ingin menjangkau dari lingkungan dekat supaya mereka juga merasakan keberadaan FoN. Kegiatan PKM ini meliputi pretest, pemberian materi, demonstrasi, redemonstrasi dan posttest. Jumlah siswa yang hadir dalam kegiatan tersebut sebanyak 64 orang. Hasil dari kegiatan ini didapatkan terjadi peningkatan nilai rerata yang signifikan pengetahuan sebelum dan setelah dilakukan edukasi first aid dengan selisih rerata sebanyak 26,56 (p value =0,000)

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Older adults are those entering the age of 60.  Life expectancy among elderly has been a valuable indicator for the overall health of inhabitant. Older adults commonly experience a decline in health, due to aging or diseases. Several programs to increase the life expectancy of elderly population are hence of urgency. The direct survey revealed that there are 100 older adults in Bina Bhakti foundation, of which 66 people are able to walk and use wheelchairs, while 34 people are on complete bed rest. Furthermore, many of them had chronic diseases such as joint disease, hypertension, and heart disease. The Management of Bina Bhakti Foundation conducts periodic health examination once a month for those who are on total bed rest, and once a year for those who are still physically active. It is all carried out by nurses and general practitioners at the Bina Bhakti Foundation. Objective: This community service aims to provide hypertension education and gymnastics with the theme of “being healthy and independent elderly”. Method: The target is all elderly people being detected to have an increase in blood pressure. The program encompasses lecturing session, health screening, and hypertension gymnastics. Screening test of glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure was conducted at the end of program. To ensure that each process went well, the team held discussion, practice and assistance to the elderly during gymnastics. Result: In a nutshell, all activities under this program went well. As many as 66 elderly people underwent health checks which included blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol. It was found that among 66 respondents, 19 elderly had increased blood pressure,1 person had an increased in blood sugar and 13 people had a high cholesterol without high blood pressure from 66 respondents. Conclusion: The survey showed that many older adults in Bina Bhakti were diagnosed with hypertension, joint disease, heart disease, and diabetes mellitus. Respondents and nurses of the Bina Bhakti Foundation said that this educational activity and hypertension gymnastic were the first at Bina Bhakti Foundation. We expected that the program could be carried out with different topics about the effect of self-acupressure on reducing blood pressure. Keywords: Older adults, Hypertension education, Hypertension Gymnastics

Abstract

Motivation can be a driving force for learning that is manifested by the attention of students in blended learning. Blended learning is a combination of online learning and face-to-face learning models.  Faculty of Nursing at one private university in Tangerang, is currently developing a blended learning model. The learning is applied to several subjects including Emergency and Critical Care and Disaster Management courses. When the pandemic hit Indonesia, the education system suddenly shifted to online learning. It then pushed students and teachers to master the use of technology, in order to ensure the effectiveness of its implementation. It is indeed significant, given that there are several challenges with a blended learning model, such as internet connection, inadequate facilities or devices, and students’ tendency to procrastinate. It is also important to know students’ perception toward blended learning for the better implementation in the future. This study sought  to explore the motivation of nursing students at one private university in Tangerang toward blended learning. To achieve the objective, a descriptive quantitative research method was utilized. The sample consisted of 207 third year nursing students who learned with a blended learning method. The data were collected using The Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) in May 2020 by online survey form. The data were then analyzed using univariate analysis. It showed that 70% students had high learning motivation while the remaining 30% had  low learning motivation.  Hence, blended learning was assumed to be effective and worth keeping for nursing education.
