Abstract

Occupational stress has become a major concern for both employees and employers globally. Stress leads to a loss of interest among workers as well as unproductive and valueless outputs if not managed well. The education sector is one work setting dominated by stress. This comparative cross-sectional study aimed to determine the levels of depression, anxiety, and stress among academicians as well as their work-related stressors and coping strategies between a selected public university in Malaysia and a private university in Indonesia. A total of 82 academicians from universities in Malaysia and 52 from Indonesia were recruited using convenience sampling. Data was collected using a validated self-reported questionnaire via Google Forms. The prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress among Malaysian academicians was 19.5%, 29.5%, and 12.2%, respectively. In contrast, the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and stress among Indonesian academicians was 15.7%, 33.3%, and 9.8%. Career development, research, teaching, and interpersonal relationships significantly contributed to stress at both universities (p-value<0.05). Participants from both universities reported using active coping, planning, venting, self-distraction, positive reframing, acceptance, and religion as coping strategies. In conclusion, determining depression, anxiety, and stress prevalence; major work-related stressors; and coping strategies are essential to maintaining the safety, health, and well-being of academicians, which eventually can encourage university administrators to provide support in enhancing their quality of life.

Abstract

Delivery insurance (Jampersal) was designed to increase pregnant woman to access health care fasility that contributed to reduce maternal death. The study aimed to describe Jampersal coverage for delivery. It utilized Bogor District health profile and maternal and child health report 2011. Coverage of Jampersal was about 2,67-12,56%, for antenatal care, delivery care, and postnatal care, the highest coverage was for delivery (12,56%). Analysis of variance test showed the significance among the coverage in west (25,05%), central (9,43%), and east (11,08%) area (p = 0,012). Multiple comparison analysis then showed that difference coverage was significance between west and central area (p = 0,011; 95% CI = 3,12–29,60). Different coverage might be associated with the intensity of Jampersal promotion done by both health workers and communities. Promotion will be essential for the success of program due to its abili ty to increase the community recognition, particularly for lower socioeconomic group, to Jampersal. It also might be influenced by discrepancy of other health insurances coverage. Those who already had health insurance would not be eligible for Jampersal. It is recommended to increase the Jampersal promotion focused to the poor groups that have not been covered by any other health insurance.

Abstract

Physical activity and sedentary behavior are two key factors influencing children’s nutritional status, particularly in relation to overweight and obesity. Measuring these aspects requires instruments that are both valid and reliable within the Indonesian cultural context. Objective: This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Indonesian versions of the Physical Activity Questionnaire for Older Children (PAQ-C) and the Adolescent Sedentary Activities Questionnaire (ASAQ) among elementary school students. Methods: The study involved 96 fifth-grade students from a private elementary school in Jakarta using translated versions of PAQ-C and ASAQ. Validity was tested using the Pearson Product Moment correlation, while reliability was examined using Cronbach’s Alpha. Results: Of the nine PAQ-C items, eight were found to be valid (r = 0.212–0.666 > r-table = 0.1689), while one item was invalid (r = 0.042). The Cronbach’s Alpha value of 0.718 indicated good internal reliability. For ASAQ, six out of eleven items were valid, with a relatively low reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.413). Recommendation: It is recommended to modify the PAQ-C with minor adjustments to the types of sports activities to better reflect the local context of Indonesian children, and to revise the ASAQ through cultural and technological adaptation, simplification of overlapping items, and improvement of the administration procedure to better capture the sedentary behavior of Indonesian children today.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition where a child's growth and development are disrupted due to chronic malnutrition. Stunting is a failure of ideal growth caused by a lack of nutrition that lasts for a long time. One of the factors that influences the incidence of stunting is the status of dental caries. Many efforts have been made to prevent stunting, one of which is preventing dental caries. This requires research on the relationship between primary dental caries and the incidence of stunting in toddlers. This study used a sampling method with a random sampling technique and involved 53 respondents. The instrument used was the def-t index to measure dental caries and stunting status based on the TB/U z-score. Statistical analysis was carried out using the chi square test to assess the relationship between dental caries and the incidence of stunting. The results of the study showed that the incidence of very short stunting was less in children with high dental caries, namely 20.8% compared to those with moderate dental caries, namely 55.2%. This means that the incidence of stunting in the very short category has a lower risk in toddlers with high dental caries compared to the moderate category. This study emphasizes the importance of the role of parents in increasing knowledge related to children's health and nutritional status. In addition, parental education and utilization of health service access are important aspects that need to be considered. Health centers, health workers, and the Health Office play an important role in encouraging efforts to control stunting in toddlers.

Abstract

Currently, the use of Long-Term Contraceptive Methods (MKJP) in Indonesia is still very low despite its high level of effectiveness in reducing birth rates and increasing the success of the Family Planning (KB) program. The low use of MKJP indicates differences in perception, knowledge, and social acceptance among women of childbearing age, especially housewives. This study aims to determine the perceptions of housewives towards the use of MKJP in Cikahuripan Village, Klapanunggal District, Bogor Regency. This study used a qualitative approach with an exploratory design through in-depth interviews with seven informants selected purposively on January 13–15, 2025. Data analysis was carried out using thematic analysis techniques according to Braun & Clarke (2006) using source triangulation to increase data validity. The results of the study indicate that housewives' perceptions of MKJP are influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors include the level of knowledge, previous experience, and motivation from husbands and health workers to minimize side effects. External factors include the influence of the social environment, user testimonials, ease of access to consultations, and the role of social media in promotion. It was concluded that comprehensive education, a persuasive approach, and cross-sector support were able to increase the trust and participation of housewives in choosing MKJP. One of the factors influencing the low use of MKJP is the perception of housewives towards this method.
