Abstract

The mudflow disaster has made the surrounding community's residential areas vulnerable, so efforts are needed to strengthen the communitys adaptive capacity to reduce vulnerability. This study aims to develop strategies to minimize settlements vulnerability based on communities adaptive capacity in areas impacted by the Lapindo mudflow disaster in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. The research method used is the explanatory sequential mixed methods approach with quantitative primary data obtained from structured questionnaires and qualitative data from field surveys and interviews, with analysis in the form of integrating the two databases. The research results showed that the level of community adaptive capacity was moderate, slightly above the average score (3.19). The lowest score was on education level (1.78), and the highest score was on social relations (4,36). The strategies to reduce vulnerability are increasing public education, empowering the community's economy, increasing the availability and capacity of disaster infrastructure, conducting massive reforestation, providing technical assistance, access to banking facilities, clean water networks and distillation, and supporting community activities in social, cultural, and religious fields, as well as strengthening village institutions. This study concludes that social, cultural, and religious variables play a role and become important capital in increasing the community's adaptive capacity, which can later reduce vulnerability in an area towards a disaster-resilient area.

Abstract

Neo-vernacular architecture is a postmodern architectural style that is a combination of two different concepts, namely modern and vernacular architecture to express a more contemporary vernacular architecture. Recreational commercial buildings are buildings used for business or recreational commercial activities that are usually uniquely designed to be attractive and comfortable for visitors who apply the expression of neo-vernacular architectural concepts in their design. This research aims to find out the character of neo-vernacular architecture in recreational commercial buildings and how it is applied so that it can be used as a reference for the community or the government in designing recreational commercial buildings with this concept. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method that is expected to describe the character of neo-vernacular architecture and its application to buildings. The research locations include the Semarang-Surabaya toll road, namely Pendopo kilometers four, five, six, Salatiga, ono joglo and Jepara resorts, as well as the Asasuka Japan Tourist Information Center. The analysis in this study uses neo-vernacular architectural theory. The results of this study conclude that the expression of the neo-vernacular architectural concept in the three case studies of recreational commercial buildings appears to be very strong in the design of the roof shape that adopts local icons (vernacular) of ridge roof types such as joglo, limasan, saddle, baked pe.

Abstract

Green roofs are generally applied to concrete roofed buildings. This study compares the thermal performance of green roofs that occur in corrugated concrete and zinc to expand green roof innovation. The study experimented on a method using the 2011 Ecotect computer simulation. The results showed that the difference in temperature reduction in corrugated zinc was higher than in concrete. Changes in heat outside the roof space on both have a number that has a relatively small difference, but the difference in heat is visible in the inner space. Based on the thermal performance of the roof, the use of corrugated zinc roofs as the base of the green roof in the building could be an alternative green roof material besides concrete.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Courtyard merupakan komponen bangunan sejak lampau yang memiliki fungsi sebagai elemen estetika di dalam bangunan juga berperan dalam usaha menciptakan sistem pengkondisian udara dan pencahayaan alami. Sebagai bukaan tentunya penetrasi radiasi matahari langsung ke dalam bangunan tidak dapat di hindari akan tetapi dengan bentuk struktur yang khas dari courtyard ditambah dengan ketersediaan elemen vegetasi akan membentuk bidang-bidang bayangan. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pemaparan hasil penelitian mengenai sejauh mana peranan pembayangan pada courtyard dalam mereduksi peningkatan suhu permukaan akibat dari penetrasi radiasi matahari. Metode yang digunakan pada penilitan ini adalah analisis secara kualitatif terhadap data kuantitatif hasil observasi dan pengukuran langsung terhadap obyek studi. Dari hasil analisis dapat diketahui bahwa variasi bidang pembayangan dan durasi pembayangan pada area courtyard gedung Widya Puraya Universitas Diponego dapat mengendalikan peningkatan suhu permukaan yang dipengaruhi oleh durasi puncak peningkatan suhu permukaan. Abstract

The transmigrants of Balinese ethnic living in Basarang Jaya Village, Kapuas, Central Kalimantan live harmoniously with the local ethnics (Dayak Ngaju) even though the area ever experienced ethnic riots that took thousands of lives and properties. The objective of this research is to find out the form of the cultural acculturation occurring between Balinese transmigrants with the Dayak Ngaju in Basarang Jaya Village. This research used phenomenology approach. The data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observations. The sources of research data are the local chiefs of Balinese and banjar Bali in Basarang Jaya Village and the first group of transmigrants coming to Basarang Jaya Village. The subject of the research was the Balinese transmigrants in Basarang Jaya Village. The object of the research is the way of life, the way of speaking, the food and the religious activities of Bali transmigrants. The research reveals some facts. First, the Balinese transmigrants have made adaptation by imitating how the ethnics of Dayak Ngaju lives. Second, there are changes in the language, way of life, food and religious activities of transmigrants. Third, the harmony between the two ethnics can be maintained by using the religion as the medium of integration.

Abstract

Dalam perkembanganya kota telah mengalami perubahan struktur ruang fisik maupun aktivitas sosial budaya pada masyarakatnya, akan tetapi ada beberapa bagian tertentu dalam kawasan yang memiliki latar belakang sejarahyang tidak lekang oleh waktu. Kawasan Pecinan Meester Jatinegara dalam kajian ini merupakan sebuah gambaran kondisi masa lalu dan perkembangannya saat ini. Kajian penelitian ini memfokuskan mengenai pentingnya ruang dalam dimensi waktu yang dilihat dari perubahan sosial budaya. Sebagai sebuah bentuk peninggalan sejarah sebuah kota, kawasan Pecinan juga memiliki karakteristik aktivitas ekonomi, sosial dan budaya sesuai dengan ciri-cirinya sebagai daerahperdagangan. Kajian ini dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif danpemikiran berdasarkan fenomena empiris di Kawasan Pecinan Meester Jatinegara dengan strategi penelitian induktif yang dilakukan untuk mengembangkan pengetahuan konseptual dan kaitannya dengan pemanfaatan ruang kawasan Pecinan yang berdasarkan aktivitas ekonomi. Hasil dari kajjian ini adalah temuan mengenai pemanfaatan ruang kawasan Pecinan Meester jatinegara yang berdasarkan pada aktivitas ekonomi.
