Abstract

This paper discusses the transformation trend of Javanese songs that can represent postmodernism following the development of the internet, social media, and other digital technologies. This phenomenon is interesting to study because the Vuca posture (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) is characterized by conditions full of uncertainty, chaos, ambiguity, and complexity that touch almost all aspects of life, including the world of music. This paper aims to a. inventory the singers as representatives of Javanese music characterized by dialects; and b. discuss the transformative contextualization of the trend of Javanese songs with Vuca conditions. Through a qualitative descriptive approach, this study produces a. inventory of Javanese singers as a transformative form of postmodernity in Vuca conditions; b. transformative trend of Javanese songs with East Javanese and Yogya-Soloan dialects, which successfully provide options in the context of maintaining culture, especially Javanese, in the Vuca era which is full of uncertainty over the identity and representation of the country's culture due to the unstoppable rise of other popular music, both foreign and local. This transformation can potentially be a model for other regional language music.

Abstract

This paper explores the representation of cross-border and cross-ideological narratives in literary and dramatic works from the Dutch East Indies era. It focuses on five categories: Dutch, Indies, Peranakan-Tionghoa, Balai Pustaka, and non-Balai Pustaka Bumiputera literature. The study aims to: (1) classify these works based on racial and ideological markers; (2) analyze how identity and ideology are represented within each category; and (3) examine how counter-knowledge and resistance to colonial discourse are articulated in the texts. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research involves close reading of texts to identify identity representations, gathering contextual data on authorship, and analyzing ideological patterns across categories. Findings reveal that Dutch and Indies authors often construct Native characters through a Western, objectifying lens, reinforcing colonial hierarchies. In contrast, non-Balai Pustaka Bumiputera writers frequently resist these narratives, offering critical perspectives on racism and colonial subjectivity through localized, spiritual, and humanistic views. The study further identifies how Western literary discourse relegates Native works to the “Batjaan Liar” (wild reading) category, while Eastern narratives challenge imperialist classifications. While authorial ideology often aligns with racial or institutional affiliation, some texts reveal ideological divergence. Ultimately, this research contributes a decolonial perspective that critiques Western modernity’s portrayal of the Native, going beyond conventional postcolonial approaches that focus primarily on colonial impact. It emphasizes the importance of Indigenous resistance and epistemology in shaping literary discourse during the colonial period.

Abstract

The rise of hypertext fiction has transformed narrative structures, challenging traditional reading behaviors and comprehension strategies. This study aims to investigate how readers navigate and engage with Patchwork Girl, a seminal work in hypertext fiction, focusing on navigation patterns, motivations, and their impact on comprehension and engagement. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research involved 110 undergraduate English majors, using observations, interviews, and thematic analysis to uncover patterns and insights. Findings revealed three dominant navigation strategies—linear, exploratory, and random—each influenced by motivations such as curiosity, thematic alignment, and a desire for agency. Linear navigation resulted in higher comprehension, while exploratory navigation fostered moderate engagement, and random navigation led to cognitive overload and fragmented understanding. These findings underscore the importance of balancing narrative complexity with user guidance in hypertext design, offering valuable implications for digital storytelling and educational applications.

Abstract

The wound healing process requires an environment that can maintain moisture, absorb excess exudate, and is biodegradable. Conventional wound dressings such as cotton, gauze, and bandages cause wound dehydration. Bacterial cellulose derived from the fermentation of coconut water by Acetobacter xylinum bacteria has unique characteristics that have the potential to be an ideal wound dressing because it can provide a moist environment. It also has good mechanical properties, biodegradability, high biocompatibility, and is non-toxic. Bacterial cellulose produces fine fibres forming a thin layer of extracellular polysaccharides. Such fibre makes it possible to bind to the molecules of the drug. This research will study the mechanical properties and efficiency of drug mass transfer from bacterial cellulose membranes with different carbon sources, namely glucose and fructose, with fermentation time variations of 3, 5, and 7 days. The results showed that the characteristic value of the fructose carbon source was superior to that of glucose. The glucose carbon source has a membrane thickness of 0.81; 6,93; 10.61 mm; fructose is 2.80; 8,41; 13.40 mm. The highest absorption capacity, stress, elongation and drug mass efficiency value is obtained by a fructose carbon source with a fermentation time of 7 days, and for absorption capacity obtained at 1.1640 g/g, stress value 105.9 N with elongation 19.90 mm and drug mass efficiency 4.085%

Abstract

Acyl glycerol derivatives from oleic acid, especially monoacylglycerol (MAG) and diacylglycerol (DAG), are products that is widely used in the food, lubricant, and cosmetic industries. Acyl glycerol can be obtained through esterification reaction of glycerol with fatty acids.  This study aims to determine the effect of temperature on the conversion and amount of acyl glycerol produced. This research was conducted using a batch system with temperature variations of 80°C, 100°C, and 120°C with HCl 1%wt as catalyst and 1:1 reactant mole ratio (glycerol: oleic acid) for 2 hours reaction time. Samples were taken every 10 minutes, then the samples were analyzed using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) to determine the fraction of the product produced. The experimental results showed that increasing the temperature will produce higher conversions and acyl glycerols. The highest conversion of oleic acid occurred at 120°C (43.016%), with mole percentage of 1,796% monoacylglycerol (MAG), 3,820% diacylglycerol (DAG), and 5,813% triacylglycerol (TAG).

Abstract

Esterification of glycerol using the fatty acids is one of methods that is widely used in the conversion of glycerol to synthesize products containing monoacylglycerol (MAG) and diacylglycerol (DAG). Among the various types of surfactants, monoacylglycerol (MAG) and diacylglycerol (DAG) are the most widely used of non-ionic surfactants in many industries such as food, pharmacy and cosmetic. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature on the conversion of palmitic acid and the concentration fraction of products. This research was conducted in a batch system with the temperature variations of 80°C, 100°C and 120°C; using 1% HCl catalyst concentration of palmitic acid mass, and reactant mole ratio of 1:1 (glycerol: palmitic acid). Samples were taken every 10 min during 120 min of reaction, to be analyzed by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) to determine the concentration fraction of products. The experimental results showed that increasing temperature enhanced the products formation, thus, increased the fraction concentration of products. However, the highest conversion of palmitic acid (80.14%) was obtained at 120°C, with concentration fraction of 1.67% monoacylglycerol (MAG), 10.96% diacylglycerol (DAG) and 6.01% triacylglycerol (TAG).
