Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of counseling on the stress coping of HIV/AIDS patients during antiretroviral treatment (ARV). Using a quasi-experimental design of one-group pretest-posttest, this study involved 30 respondents of adults diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. The results showed that counseling interventions significantly increased the use of problem-focused coping strategies and reduced emotion-focused strategies among respondents. The results of the analysis showed that counseling interventions had a significant influence on the coping strategies used by patients. The mean problem-focused coping score increased from 15.00 (SD = 3.50) before counseling to 25.00 (SD = 4.00) after the intervention, indicating a significant improvement in the use of more adaptive coping strategies. In contrast, the average emotion-focused coping score decreased from 22.00 (SD = 5.00) to 15.00 (SD = 4.50), indicating that counseling was effective in reducing the use of emotion-based strategies. Counseling has an important role in helping patients manage stress and motivate adherence to medication. This research is expected to contribute to the understanding and management of stress in people with HIV/AIDS through appropriate interventions.

Abstract

In the implementation of education, each university has learning outcomes that must be achieved by students graduating from the institution. To find out the predetermined learning outcomes have been achieved or not, measurable indicators are needed. One of the indicators used to measure the quality of university graduates is the achievement index achieved by students. In academic settings, many studies show that there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy and academic achievement. In addition, student academic achievement is also influenced by another aspect, namely resilience. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim of knowing the relationship between the level of self-efficacy and resilience with academic achievement in 2nd semester students of Politeknik Negeri Indramayu. The method used in this research is a quantitative method. The sampling technique in this study was random sampling technique, with a total sample of 213 students. The results of data analysis showed that the significance score obtained was below 0.05. This means that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and resilience with academic achievement in 2nd semester students of Politeknik Negeri Indramayu. The higher the self-efficacy and resilience, the higher the academic achievement achieved. Conversely, the lower the level of self-efficacy and resilience, the lower the academic achievement.

Abstract

Hypertension, characterized by diastolic pressure exceeding 90 mmHg and systolic pressure surpassing 140 mmHg, poses a significant health challenge often addressed through pharmacological antihypertensive therapy. This research endeavors to evaluate the impact of complementary interventions, specifically deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation, on reducing blood pressure among hypertensive patients within the operational domain of the Kertasemaya Community Health Center in the Indramayu Regency in 2023. Adopting a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Pretest-Posttest and Control Group paradigm, the study engaged a cohort of 70 respondents stratified into intervention and control groups. The intervention group underwent a combined therapy of deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation, followed by a meticulous post-test for final observations. Meanwhile, the control group underwent an initial blood pressure measurement (pre-test), a relaxation period of 15-30 minutes, and concluded with a post-test for final measurements. The study revealed a statistically significant influence (p=0.013) on average blood pressure within the intervention group compared to the control group. This disparity was observed both before and after the implementation of deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation techniques among hypertensive respondents. These findings underscore the potential efficacy of non-pharmacological interventions in mitigating hypertension and enhancing patient well-being. The combination of deep breathing relaxation and progressive muscle relaxation emerges as a highly effective strategy in reducing blood pressure among hypertensive individuals. This integrative therapeutic approach showcases promising potential for promoting cardiovascular well-being, offering a valuable non-pharmacological avenue for hypertension management
