The term surveillance is used in two rather different ways. First, surveillance can mean the continuous security of the factors that determine the occurrence and distribution of disease and other conditions of ill health The second use of the term refers to a special reporting system which is set u for a particularly important health problem or disease, for example the spread of communicable diseases in an epidemic like Avian Influenza (AI) or ( H5N1 ). Such a surveillance system like AI aim to provide quickly information which can be analyzed to determine frequency and to answer like questions: who, where and when.AI epidemiological surveillance has a number of major steps: (I) to identify and confirm outbreaks to ensure that effective action to control the disease is being taken (2) to investigate diseases by clinics and laboratory (3) to investigate and confirm the cases (4) Data collection and public health consolidation (5) Data analysis (6) Feedback (7) Following step is taken . District health officer (DHO) and District veterinary officer (DVO) can use integrated AI surveillance epidemiological to collect such information to support the management and evaluation health activities to prevent community from AI disease. Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of neonatal visits is to re-examine newborns, review counseling and anticipation guidelines with parents, identify symptoms of illness, and educate and support parents. The purpose of neonatal visits is to improve neonatal access to basic health services and to find out as early as possible if there are abnormalities in the baby or if there are problems. One important indicator to describe the level of public health is the infant mortality rate. Objective to find out more about the perspectives on neonatal visit coverage in Serdang Bedagai District, Indonesia. The study was a qualitative with phenomenology approach. Twenty-five informants were applied in this study using purposive sampling. Data were collected using in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using content analysis by the collaizi method. The study emerged nine themes, namely: 1) knowledge about neonatal visits; 2) neonatal visit quantity standards; 3) neonatal visit quality standards; 4) health care workers providing neonatal visiting services; 5) purpose of neonatal visits; 6) relationship between education and neonatal visit compliance; 7) relationship between husband/family support and neonatal visit compliance; 8) reasons for non-compliance with neonatal visits; and 9) culture in support of public health. Abstract

A person's food preferences can be influenced by various factors, including individual characteristics, food characteristics, and environmental characteristics. The study conducted aimed to determine the relationship between several factors, such as money allowance, food expenditure, parents' occupation, nutrition knowledge, food availability, and sensory appeal, and the food preferences of students in the Public Health Faculty at Andalas University. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted from June to July 2023. The sample consisted of 100 students who were selected using proportional stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires on money allowance, food expenditure, nutritional knowledge, food availability, sensory appeal, and food preferences. The chi-square test was used for data analysis. The study found that money allowance (p-value=0.030), food expenditure (p-value=0.001), and nutrition knowledge (p-value=0.009) were significantly related to students' food preferences. The father’s occupation (p=1,000), mother’s occupation (p=0.549), food availability (p=0,643), and sensory appeal (p=0.643) had no significant relationship with students' food preferences. It is recommended that students consider rational factors when making decisions about their food preferences. Keywords: food expenditure, food preferences, pocket money, sensory appeal.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition characterized by blood pressure rising above normal levels, commonly referred to as high blood pressure. Hypertension is defined as a systolic blood pressure of ≥140 mmHg and diastolic pressure of >90 mmHg. It is a disease with a high prevalence of disability and mortality rates each year and is often referred to as “the silent killer.” This study aimed to determine the relationship between physical activity and nitric oxide levels with the incidence of hypertension among the elderly at Nanggalo Public Health Center. Methods: This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 137 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling technique. The research was conducted from March to April 2025. Data analysis was performed using Chi-square and Pearson Correlation tests. Results: The Chi-square test showed a significant relationship between physical activity and the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.006) at Nanggalo Public Health Center, indicating that physical activity is associated with hypertension among the elderly. Meanwhile, the Pearson Correlation analysis revealed no significant relationship between nitric oxide intake and hypertension (p = 0.146; p > 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between physical activity and the incidence of hypertension among the elderly. However, there is no significant relationship between nitric oxide intake and the incidence of hypertension.
