Abstract

Inclusive higher education is essential for ensuring equitable access to learning, particularly for students with disabilities. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides a flexible instructional framework that accommodates diverse learning needs and promotes inclusion. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA model, using the Watase Uake application to identify and analyze scholarly works related to UDL implementation in Indonesian universities. Findings reveal that UDL positively impacts the academic experience of students with disabilities. Notable benefits include improved engagement and academic outcomes, with some cases reporting up to a 20% increase in student achievement. Effective strategies identified include flexible content delivery, adaptive assessment methods, and technology-enhanced instruction. However, several barriers persist, including limited faculty training, inadequate infrastructure, and high implementation costs. These were highlighted through qualitative insights and quantitative staff surveys. The results underscore the need for targeted interventions to overcome implementation challenges. The study proposes strategic measures such as comprehensive lecturer training, investment in multimodal learning tools, and more inclusive evaluation systems. This review offers practical recommendations to enhance UDL adoption in Indonesian higher education. By addressing current challenges, institutions can create a more inclusive academic environment that supports all learners, especially students with disabilities.

Abstract

The problem-based learning (PBL) model consists of five steps: orienting students to the problem, organizing work, guiding investigations, compiling work and presenting it, and evaluating the process and results. However, many teachers have not implemented the first and second steps properly, so that the goal of developing students' critical and creative thinking is not achieved. This study aims to develop a problem orientation and work organization model in PBL. This study uses the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation, and Evaluation). The results of the analysis show that teachers still have difficulty in implementing PBL steps and need more operational guidance. The model developed includes systematic steps to formulate problems and organize student work to be more effective. The validation results show that this model is valid and has been tested practically, with positive responses from teachers to its implementation. This guide can improve the effectiveness of PBL teaching, ensure its implementation is in accordance with the correct concept, and minimize errors in learning practices.

Abstract

The 21st-century competencies—particularly creative thinking and collaborative skills—among junior high school students in Indonesia was underdevelopment. Science-Biology learning is still dominated by conventional, teacher-centered methods that limit student engagement and higher-order thinking. Although the Kurikulum Merdeka promotes the use of Project-Based Learning (PjBL), many teachers lack sufficient training and face challenges in aligning learning objectives with real-world contexts. These obstacles result in students showing fair to below-average levels in collaboration and creativity. To address this gap, this study aims to develop and validate the “REPROKOPIKREATIF” model to enhance collaborative skills and creative thinking in Natural Science-Biology education through a structured PjBL approach. Grounded in the ADDIE framework, the model focuses on improving the planning stage of PjBL by offering systematic procedures for formulating essential questions and designing project plans. It integrates concept maps, group heterogeneity, and scaffolding strategies as practical tools for teachers and learners. The implementation results demonstrate high model validity, improved teacher performance, and increased student engagement. Quantitative data from pretest and posttest comparisons show significant gains in students’ creative dimensions—fluency, originality, elaboration—and collaborative aspects like respect and responsibility. The REPROKOPIKREATIF model provides a validated, practical solution to strengthen key competencies in line with Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PjBL) is a learning model that aims to improve students' critical and creative thinking skills. However, the implementation of PjBL in the field still experiences obstacles, especially in the stages of determining basic questions and planning projects. This study aims to develop a procedural model for both stages and analyze teacher performance in implementing it. This study uses a development method (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The results of the needs analysis show that teachers still do not understand the steps of PjBL and require comprehensive procedural guidance and adequate training. The model developed consists of systematic procedures in determining basic questions and planning projects. The results of the development are stated in a guidebook that is validated by learning experts. The implementation of the model is carried out through teacher training and trials on a small and large scale. Evaluation is carried out by testing the consistency of implementation. The results of the study show that this model can improve teacher understanding and performance in implementing PjBL effectively. Student responses to the developed model were also positive, indicating that this approach supports more meaningful learning.

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) is a cutting-edge educational tool that effectively visualizes invisible or abstract objects, such as internal human organs or plant anatomy. However, developing AR media requires specific skills and knowledge, which many teachers lack. This community service project aimed to assist science teachers at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Kota Batu in designing and utilizing AR media to enhance students' critical and creative thinking. The method involved a series of activities including awareness sessions, workshops, mentoring, implementation, and evaluation. As a result, participating teachers gained knowledge and skills in AR development, produced simple AR media, and successfully integrated it into the learning process. The project significantly contributed to the teachers’ professional development and supported the digital school program. The main outputs include AR media prototypes, published articles, and broader media dissemination.

Abstract

Background: Jackbean (Canavalia ensiformis) contains protein and secondary metabolite compounds, such as phenolics and flavonoids that can have potential as antioxidants, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antiviral. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of giving jackbean flour as an immunostimulant on non-specific immunity of mice in-vitro and in-silico. Methods: This type of research is double methods research with a comparative method and uses an experimental design in the form of a Randomized Group Design and in-silico testing with the NCBI website. Mice with a total of 16 heads were divided into 4 treatment groups, namely the Negative Control group (P0), Dose 1 (P1) with a solution of jackbean flour as much as 2.3 g, Dose 2 (P2) as much as 4.6 g, Dose 3 (P3) as much as 9.2 g. The hemagglutination test was carried out on mice with a total of 16 mice. The hemagglutination test was carried out on the 15th day after giving the flour solution, then tested the content of active compounds in koro pedang in silico according to the literature review of previous research from the website which contains active compounds, namely canavanine, concanavalin A and B. Results: The results of in-vitro research show that the most influential dose for hemagglutination is P1 with a dose of 2.3 grams, characterized by almost all wells on the microplate there is concentrated clotting, and there is significance (p < 0.05) which means there is a difference in the effectiveness of jackbean flour solution as an immunostimulant from each dose. Conclusion: This study concluded that jack bean flour, especially at a dose of 2.3 grams, effectively enhanced non-specific immunity in mice, as evidenced by significant hemagglutination results. Therefore, jack bean flour has the potential to be a natural immunostimulant in improving immune health and fighting infections.

Abstract

Background: Preparations are used as learning resources in histology practicum, for this reason, it is necessary to seek various ways to improve the quality, one of which is the manufacture of femoral and antebrachium preparations of Oryctolagus cuniculus. The rubbing preparations were obtained through the microtechnical method by boiling and rubbing the bones as thinly as possible. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the histological structure of the femur and antebrachium tissue of Oryctolagus cuniculus which could be observed microscopically through bone rub preparations. Methods: This research method is descriptive. The research sample is taken from the femur and antebrachium Oryctolagus cuniculus. The data collection method was by direct observation of the preparations using a microscope and documented using an HP Realme camera directly from the microscope. The data analysis technique was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner. The research was conducted at the Biology Laboratory of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang Results: Unstained femur and antebrachium preparations of Oryctolagus cuniculus show parts of the haversian system, namely Canalis havers, Osteocytes, Lacunae, Canaliculi, Lamella, and Canalis Volkmann. Conclusion: The research results can be used as learning resources or histology practicum media.

Abstract

Background: Maceration is a microtechnique used to examine xylem vessel anatomy by softening plant tissues in specific solutions so that tracheary elements can be observed clearly. However, the optimal ratio of acid solutions for producing durable and well-stained maceration slides is still rarely reported for Piper betle. Objectives: This study compared two ratios (1:1 and 1:5) of 10% nitric acid and 10% chromic acid to evaluate their effects on the quality of maceration preparations from green betel (Piper betle) stems. Methods: An experimental design was applied. Stem and petiole samples were processed through boiling, acid soaking, staining with safranin and methylene blue, graded alcohol dehydration, and fixation/clearing using xylol. Observations were conducted under 400× magnification, and findings were summarized descriptively Results: The 1:1 ratio produced more uniform staining and more resilient preparations than the 1:5 ratio. Slides prepared with the 1:5 ratio tended to be more fragile and exhibited less optimal staining, likely due to excessive chromic acid. Methylene blue staining was weak in both treatments, consistent with the dye’s high water solubility and possible incomplete rinsing after acid treatment. Conclusion: Maceration was effective for observing xylem anatomical structures in P. betle. A 1:1 ratio of 10% nitric acid to 10% chromic acid is recommended to obtain better slide quality and durability for microscopic observation.

Abstract

Making intact preparations to observe the anatomical structure of plants and animals in biological practicum activities requires effective dyes. Synthetic dyes such as safranin are commonly used, but they are relatively expensive, carcinogenic, and less environmentally friendly. This study aimed to examine the effect of variations in concentration and duration of staining using telang flower extract (Clitoria ternatea) on the quality of the whole plant preparation Hydrocotyle umbellata. The study was conducted experimentally with a combination of concentration treatment (70%, 80%, and 90%) and duration of staining (15 and 30 minutes). The quality of the preparations was assessed using assessment parameters which included clarity of anatomical structure, colour contrast and colour distribution. The data obtained were analyzed to determine the best treatment combination, as well as compared with safranin-stained and no-staining control preparations. Results showed that increasing concentration and duration of staining had an effect on the quality of the preparation results. The combination of concentrations of 80% of the 15-minute duration of staining gave the best results with the identification of trichomes, strong color contrast and even color. Based on these results, telang flower extract has the potential to be used as a natural dye alternative to safranin which is safer, more economical and more environmentally friendly.
