Abstract

Inquiry-based learning in science education at the elementary level holds significant potential to enhance teaching quality, yet its developmental trends remain insufficiently mapped. This article aims to analyze the research trends of inquiry-based learning in elementary science education using a bibliometric approach. The study was conducted through four stages of analysis: identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database using the keywords “inquiry-based learning,” “science,” and “elementary school,” yielding 43 selected documents from 2014 to 2023, all in English. The analysis reveals three key terms that frequently appear in these studies: “inquiry-based learning” (22 occurrences, link strength 76), “students” (14 occurrences, link strength 76, links 35), and “elementary school” (7 occurrences, link strength 37). The highest number of publications was recorded in 2023 with eight documents, while the lowest numbers occurred in 2017 and 2021, with only one document each. The study concludes that inquiry-based learning approaches in elementary science education have received limited attention from international researchers. Thus, further studies are needed to expand the scope of this topic and enhance its contributions to primary education.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed the field of education, including the approach to teaching Indonesian language in elementary schools. A key challenge in Indonesian language learning is the low level of student interest and motivation, often caused by conventional and less engaging instructional methods. This study aims to critically analyze the effectiveness of using interactive PowerPoint media in enhancing the quality of Indonesian language learning processes and outcomes. The research employed a systematic literature review method, analyzing a selection of relevant scholarly articles published within the last five years. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively using thematic synthesis to identify recurring patterns and the impact of PowerPoint media on various learning aspects. The findings reveal that interactive PowerPoint media positively influence students’ learning motivation, conceptual understanding, and overall academic performance. Visual elements such as images, animations, and interactive transitions were found to effectively capture students’ attention and encourage active participation in the learning process. The study concludes that interactive PowerPoint is an effective instructional tool to support more meaningful and student-centered Indonesian language learning. These findings imply the importance of technological innovation in instructional design to enhance student engagement and optimize learning outcomes.

Abstract

The paradigm shift in education due to digital transformation requires prospective elementary school teachers to have adequate digital pedagogical competencies in order to create relevant learning experiences. However, various findings show that teacher education programs are still limited in integrating innovative approaches, resulting in a gap between graduates' abilities and the needs of 21st-century learning practices. This study aims to critically analyze, evaluate the effectiveness, and synthesize various models and strategies for integrating Game-Based Learning (GBL) in strengthening the digital literacy pedagogical competencies of elementary school teacher education students. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with PRISMA guidelines, through a review of ten empirical articles published in the 2020–2024 period. The results of the analysis show that GBL and gamification can increase motivation, positive attitudes, and mastery of techno-pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) among prospective teachers. Student involvement as game designers proved to be more effective than theory-based learning alone. The main obstacles to the implementation of GBL include limited resources, infrastructure, and training. The implications of this research emphasize the need for a shift in teacher education curricula towards more practical, participatory, and design-oriented learning models, while encouraging policymakers to strengthen institutional support for teacher competency development in the digital age.
