Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the use of black cumin and antibiotics on carcassweight and abdominal fat of broilers during summer seasons. The material in this study were used 100 individuals unsex one-day old broiler strain CP 707, and the ration of broiler were added black cumin powder (BCP). The ration consisted of yellow corn, rice brand, soybean meal,palm oil, fish meal, calsium and top mix. The diet was protein energy with 22.91% protein and 2,994 kcal/kg for starter and 20,01% protein and 3.054kcal/kg for finisher. Experiment was conducted as a completely randomized design with 5 treatments (control, antibiotic without BCP, 2% BCP, 4%BCP and 6% BCP). Carcas weight and abdominal fat was measured on at 28 day of age. The resulted data was analysed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with F test to know the effect of treatment, and when there were significant continous to Duncan multiple range test. The results showed that addition of black cumin (Nigella sativa) and antibiotics as a feed additive in ration cannot increase carcass weight and peesentase abdominal fat of broilers during summer seasons. level of black cumin 2-6% in the feed has the same ability to antibiotics against carcass weight and percentage of abdominal fat of broilers.Key words: Broiler, antibiotic, carcass weigth, abdominal fat

Abstract

Ayam broiler dikenal mempunyai lemak tubuh tinggi, sehingga perlu upaya penurunan lemak dengan menggunakan bahan alami (herbal) sebagai pakan tambahan. Penggunaan daun jati belanda diharapkan mampu menurunkan lemak ayam broiler. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji khasiat tepung daun jati belanda dalam menurunkan kadar trigliserida darah dan persentase lemak abdominal ayam broiler. Penelitian ini menggunakan 100 ekor DOC (day old chicks) betina. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratorium dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) menggunakan 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan pada setiap perlakuan dan jika ada beda nyata antar perlakuan dilakukan uji lanjut dengan uji beda nyata terkecil  (BNT) dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95 %. Pengujian pengaruh penurunan kadar trigliserida darah dan lemak abdominal dilakukan selama 28 hari perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian tepung daun jati belanda (Guazuma ulmifolia Lamk.) pada dosis 5g, 10g, 15 g dan 20 g dalam 1 kg pakan komplit mampu menurunkan kadar trigliserida darah dan lemak abdominal ayam broiler ((P<0.05) dibanding dengan kontrol. Kata kunci :  daun jati belanda; ayam broiler; trigliserida darah; lemak abdominal

Abstract

This research aims to determine the amount of erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels and hematocrit levels of laying hens which are given additional herbal medicine in feed by adding herbs. Jamu consists of a mixture of temulawak, lempuyang, ginger, bitter and turmeric, each in the same portion of 20%. A total of 40 laying hens aged 35 weeks are kept for one month. The experimental design uses a completely randomized design (CRD), with 4 treatments and 5 replications so that there are 20 units of experiment, each unit contains 2 chickens with additional feed, namely T0 (basal feed), T1 (basal feed plus 0.5% herbal medicine), T2 (basal feed plus 1% herbal medicine), T3 (basal feed plus 1.5% herbal medicine). Blood sampling was done at the end of the research to calculate the amount of erythrocytes, hemoglobin levels and hematocrit levels. The results showed hematocrit levels in chickens that were added additional herbs in the ration both at T1, T2 and T3 were different (P <0.05) with chickens that were not given additional herbs in the ration. The conclusion from the research conducted is the addition of herbal medicine can increase the profile of red blood in laying hens.Keywords: Blood profile, herbs, laying hens.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of two-stage fermented cassava pulp (FCP) on growth, blood parameters, intestinal microbiology and carcass characteristics of broilers. Two hundreds Lohmann broiler chicks were used from days 22 to 38 and allotted to CONT (maize-soybean-meal-based finisher diet), FCP-10 (finisher diet containing 10% FCP), FCP-15 (15% FCP) and FCP-20 (20% FCP). FCP was included into finisher diet at the expense of maize. On day 38, one bird per replicate was blood sampled and slaughtered. Ileal and caecal digesta and duodenal, jejunal and ileal segments were obtained for intestinal microbiology and villi height measurements. Breast muscle was obtained for meat colour determination. FCP-10 had a higher (p≤0.05) body weight gain than CONT. Feed intake was highest (p≤0.05) in FCP-15 and the lowest (p≤0.05) in CONT. Feed conversion ratio was lowest and highest in FCP-10 and FCP-15, respectively (p≤0.05). FCP-20 had a lower (p≤0.05) abdominal fat than CONT and FCP-10. CONT had lower (p≤0.05) serum total triglycerides than FCP-15 and FCP-20. Duodenal villi height for FCP-20 was higher (p≤0.05) than that for CONT and FCP-15. The ileal villi height for FCP-20 was lower (p≤0.05) than that for CONT and FCP-15. The wings relative weight was higher (p≤0.05) in FCP-20 than in FCP-10 and FCP-15. FCP-15 and FCP-20 had higher (p≤0.05) L* (lightness) values than CONT. In conclusion, feeding two-stage FCP up to 20% had no deleterious effect on growth, haematological parameters, intestinal microbiology and carcass characteristics. Feeding two-stage FCP at a level of 20% reduced the abdominal fat content and increased duodenal villi height of broilers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh air kunyit rebus terhadap daya tahan dan produksi karkas ayam broiler. Penelitian menggunakan 200 ekor DOC (day old chicken) ayam broiler dengan berat awal 41,48 ± 0,99 g/ekor. Pakan yang digunakan adalah pakan komersial dengan kode B-11S untuk fase starter dan BR-1AJ untuk fase finisher. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan yang masing masing terdiri dari 8 ekor. Perlakuan terdiri dari T0 (100% air), T1 (75% air + 25% air rebusan kunyit), T2 (50% air + 50% air rebusan kunyit), T3 (25% air + 75% air rebusan kunyit), T4 (100% air rebusan kunyit). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa air kunyit rebus memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan (P<0,05) terhadap rasio jumlah heterofil : limfosit dan porsi potongan karkas bagian dada, namun tidak berpengaruh terhadap jumlah sel limfosit, dan neutrophil serta bobot badan akhir, bobot karkas dan potongan karkas (sayap, femur, betis dan punggung). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa penggunaan air kunyit rebus dalam air minum ayam pedaging mampu memperbaiki derajat kesehatan ayam dan meningkatkan performans potongan karkas ayam broiler.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to improve the relative weight, relative length and dietary of the broilers’ small intestine (duodenum, jejunum, ileum) with the slight squeeze of the lime as acidifier. The research was conducted according to completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 6 replications (each experimental unit consisted of 5-6 broilers). Treatments were T0 (normal), T1 (5mL lime + 1000mL water), and T2 (10mL + 1000 mL water). Relative weight and relative length of the small intestine were not affected by the addiction of the lime, either dietary was not significantly affected by the addiction of the lime on the water as acidifier.
