Abstract

Abstract

21st-century learning emphasises the importance of creative thinking skills through the STEAM approach, including developing STEAM-based learning models and tools. This study aims to develop a STEAM-integrated assessment instrument to measure students' creative thinking skills, as well as to determine students’ perceptions of the assessment instrument. The research and development (R&D) method produces effective and efficient educational products through improvement, development, and evaluation. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Jambi City and SMA Adhyaksa 1 Jambi City, involving 40 students in class XI. The instrument was developed in the form of description questions on static fluid material. The results showed that students' perception was very positive, with an average assessment of 83.15% for the category ‘Very Feasible’. Validation consists of 3 aspects, namely material, language, and evaluation aspects, which show most aspects of the instrument are in the ‘very feasible’ to ‘feasible’ category. Nine of the 11 questions tested were declared valid, while 2 needed revision. The difficulty level of the questions varied from ‘moderate’ to ‘difficult’. These findings indicate that the instrument developed is feasible for measuring students' creative thinking skills in static fluid material with the STEAM approach. The novelty of this research lies in integrating STEAM components into assessment instruments that assess concept understanding and encourage the development of students' creativity.

Abstract

Learning about magnetic fields in physics is often challenging because of their abstract nature and difficulty in observing them directly. This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of using an Arduino Uno-based teslameter with a Hall Effect sensor as a technology-based learning medium for magnetic field concepts. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the participation of three 11th grade MIPA students at SMAN 1 Kota Jambi. Data were collected through in-depth interviews validated by physics education experts and analyzed using thematic analysis based on Braun and Clarke's framework. The results of the study indicate that the use of Arduino-based teslameters enhances students' engagement and conceptual understanding of magnetic field phenomena. Additionally, students demonstrated high interest in technology-based learning and provided positive feedback on the development of the device. This study also suggests that integrating the teslameter with a wireless communication module (such as ESP8266) has the potential to connect the device to a cloud system or mobile application, thereby expanding its functionality toward the Internet of Things (IoT). This integration enables real-time and remote observation and measurement of magnetic fields, as well as enhancing the digitalization dimension in 21st-century physics education.

Abstract

Teachers reveal that they have not implemented STEM-based learning because teachers do not have sufficient insights and they do not have the skills to develop STEM-based learning. Therefore, the effort made to over come these problems are providing training on science learning using a STEM approach to improve the competence of science teachers in conducting STEM-based learning in order to improve the quality of learning in the classroom. The training participants are science teachers at SMPN 1 Sungai Penuh City and the place of service at SMPN 1 Sungai Penuh, Kerinci. Through this activity, it is hoped that teachers can get to know the current developments of the 21st century and of course science teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Kota Sungai Penuh can apply a STEM approach in science learning. The impact is for classroom learning to be more active and teachers are able to develop very effective learning tools in accordance with the demands of basic competencies for 21st century skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the needs of teachers for the development of teaching materials in the form of STEM-based electronic modules. Development using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementatin, Evaluation). The data obtained through interviews with one of the physics teachers in Kerinci district, the results of the interviews are that in the learning process teachers have not used electronic modules with the STEM approach and require electronic modules with the STEM approach because the STEM approach focuses more on real-world problems or problems in everyday life. based on a combination of four aspects, namely  Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, making it easier for students to understand the material, besides that it can also improve students' scientific literacy. So that researchers will carry out the development of STEM-based electronic modules.

Abstract

One of the goals of physics learning is to help students develop collaboration skills. A preliminary study conducted showed that resulting in less than optimal learning outcomes. Such a learning process causes the development of students' collaboration skills to be less stimulated properly. This study aims to determine the effect of web-based worksheets based on STEM integrated problems on students' collaboration skills. The research method uses a quasi-experimental technique with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling strategy. The samples involved were 36 students in class F7 of SMA Negeri 1 Kota Jambi. The test was conducted to collect data on students' collaboration skills and student learning outcomes. The research data were collected using a questionnaire of ten questions and a ten-item multiple-choice test that was valid with a reliability coefficient of 0.70. That there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes of students in the pretest and posttest with a sig. (2-tailed) <0.05, which indicates that the STEM-integrated Elasticity and Hooke's Law worksheet has a positive effect on students' critical thinking skills. With an N-Gain score of 0.76 in the high category, the STEM-integrated physics web worksheet on the Elasticity and Hooke's Law material can improve students' collaboration skills.
